Not trying to be negative nancy but compared to last year I felt like this afterparty was a big big let down sonically. I had so much fun though simply because of the people, friends, etc. but I think there were some major musical hang ups. It was too loud when the first DJ was on, big time ear ringing. All in all the lineup just wasn't good. Deadmau5 was probably one of the best of the night and I by far not his biggest fan. Fischerspooner was also up there but the fact that they didn't play ANY of their famous songs was a really big blow. There wasn't the hands in the air moment when a producer plays their big songs or classic tunes... (eg. Smells like teen spirit, or In and out of love from last years...). The trance in the side room was pretty good though. Unfortunately I didn't get to see Haliwell but I did hear he tore it up. I felt like Groove Armada really ruined the mood. The entire night I felt like I was listening to the same sound except for fischerspooner and Deadmau5 but even then it was just nothing special. Best song of the night was Touring in NY by Maybb. Lights and lasers were awesome. I wish for color lasers in the main room. Other than that all good. I had such a blast though, way way better than Pop. Significantly worse than Lovefest 08 though, but you can't always be expected to have the best set. For the price I don't feel like the lineup delivered but the crowd is what makes lovefest what it is and I don't regret dropping for a second on that.
well thats interesting, its sunday night and the score is 1 positive review and 1 semi-negative review.
I want to see some pics and vids and more reviews of this night. The price of entry was very high IMO per person, so im curious about what people got out of this night...
furthermore it sucks that there was no color laser in the main room, what happened, did someone cheapen out? lets see some pics and vids!

Ill put it this way I guess. I went to Lovefest 08, Monster Massive 08, Amore 09 in Italy, Love 09, Pop 09, Ultra Miami 09, EDC 09, and probably a few other massives as well as countless electronic events/clubs within this past year. I plus or minus know what a good crowd reaction is and what it looks like and feels like when someone is "rockin it". So I stand by what I said before. You may not like when someone plays smells like teen spirit, but it may come as a surprise that others do. Not only did ATB play it last year which resulted in the crowd essentially screaming the lyrics, but then Armin, in a faux pas, played it once again that very same night. I don't think the song should be played twice, but if you're really going to be that dense about the selection then that pretty much explains why the lineup and music selection came out the way it did. What do you suggest was better...? Deadmau5 playing the Zelda theme song last night? Yea.....

I have zero to do with the lineup or any say in it.
Anyhow, it seems like it's just a differnce in tasts largely.
And yeah, I thought the Zelda thing was a bit cheesy too (and I worked in videogame media industry from 1996 - Dec 2008...and might even stay/get back in it). But that's just me. I've already said I'm not a big fan of his sets these days (though I have heard him play very well in the past and am not afraid to say I do like smoe o his productios), just not the style I'm really into right now. Not hating on him at all. A lot of people obviously love the guy. Just the style isn't me...right now.
And the whole SLTS to get crowds pumped up is played out,that's my issue. It pops up every two years or so like clockwork it seems. So yeah. First couple times it popped up back in the day yeah it was awesome. But it's just gotten old to me personally (that said, I've been to more events than 99% of that crowd Iam sure) I'm personally not a fan of that stuff, and just speaking my opinion on that. Again, a personal thing. And I would have puke both times when Armin and ATB played 
I want to a remember a night for the sets and the energy. Not because one or two key tracks were played to get the crowd going. If a track or two (like SLTS) is what people remember about the night (like people do about last year)...personally, that's not what makes a night memorable to me.
I just though the music last night worked out well across the board. I personally though Fischerpooner stood out, even w/o the classics....mainly because I was surprised by their set. Other than that, true...there was not necessarily an epic point in the night, but from beginning to end the room was hopping or grooving. There was no dead period which you just seem to get with a lot of DJs except for those few key tracks and/or anthems at these big events.
Again, all an IMO.
And you going to all these major festivals and stuff...that's going to make you easily more jaded. Which is fine. I'm hella jaded, especially with club events. My coming out pleased considering my jadedness is prob what drove me to make this post. Everyone should always want to see better....to the more jaded ones, that's more difficult, of course.
I dunno if I saw "better" last night, but I just came away with happy about the music and how it all progressed throughout the night (as I'm a huge huge person an progression, and really frown up when lineups just don't make sense in the end)
And trance music (like last year in the main room) brings out a different vibe than house music (other than Halliwell this year). It's just different. To expect the same type of energy...well, ya shouldn't. But it doesn't mean it's not as much energy. It's just different. But it doesn't mean one is better than the other...unless you strongly prefer one style, one type over the other. I can go to Armin or Markus and go absolutely insane all night jumping up and down then go to a prog house DJ the next week and love the set just as much as I loved Armin or Markus' from the week before and do little to no jumping around at all and come out oft he night just as happy..and all I really did all night was groove to the music. It's just different.
Geeze, did I just say "it's just different" three times in there? lack of sleep and my feet still in pain must be getting to me. :-p
Again, just personal tastes difference. Nothing more, nothing to beat the bush about. I respect your opinion, hope you can respect mine.
Wow, this post has a lot of broken record tidbits in it....should stop using the world "different" or "difference".

(Just a reminder that this post is of my own accord. Again, I'd usually stay quiet about this type of thing because of the whole "bias" argument I'm sure smoe peeps wil l bring up, but I just like how everything flowed - considering the lineuip in the mainroom itself) overall.)

Overall, I was very pleased by the whole night.
Being more of a house head these days, I was already stoked about the line up.
I thought Dan tore it up, actually...one of the better sets I've seen him play in awhile. (What happend to Donald???...travel plans?)
FSPNR: My first experience with them and was impressed. Not blown away, but I was really pleased to see the crowd into the set.
Deadmau5: Again, I loved how the crowd stayed into the music, the production, etc.
GA: Stayed true to their style, while again keeping the party's flow going in the same line.
Again, really happy with the vibe change from last year...and while I know the lineup took some major hits on these boards...I think Spundae/Skills/Ultra did an excellent job keeping this party going.
Thought the production was great and 2 rooms better than 3. Will Call was easy as hell to get through.
Can't wait for 2010 lineup to be announced.

So I have finally recovered from this amazing event. All I can say is that Skills and Spundae both did an amazing job booking the trance room. I�m still bewildered of why they used the side room instead of the main room, but I guess trying to sell the show to other house/non trance LoveEvo attendees. I mean the trance headliner was there if they wanted to use him as one (Eddie Halliwell).
Anyway back to the trance room in which I spent all-night except for the last hour. The sound was great, the lasers were amazing and the people there mostly fellow trance heads that knew the melodies and lyrics of tracks being played. It was awesome not having to deal with the epuddles or idiots just walking back and forth just because. Does anyone know who opened the Trance room? I don�t think it was Blix Cannon or maybe �?
Jon O�Bir definitely and John O�Callaghan both played awesome sets from start to finish. There was never a dull moment on there sets. Tracks I remember that where played by Jon O�Bir where �Never Fade Away (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) �, �Prophase�, �PvD - Cast Away�, �PvD � Home (Cosmic Gate)�, �Giuseppe Ottaviani - Changing Ways�, �Ways and Means�, �Jochen Miller - Brace Yourself �, �Ben Gold feat Senadee � Today� plus many many others, definitely a hard hitting, uplifting banging set.
Menno de Jong had an awesome set but definitely slower tempo than Jon O�Bir. He quickly picked it up though, which was good. Unfortunately for Andy Moor, he was playing at the same time that Deadmau5 was playing causing half of the room to empty out and head on over to the main stage. That did not matter, because Andy played a great set, the type of set and sound that he is known for. Tracks I remember from him were �Faces�, �Love Story�. It was funny to see the room get back within 30 � 40 minutes. I guess the deadmau5 was not playing the style people left to hear in the main room.
John O�Callaghan MY GOD!!! What a set!! There was soo many good tracks played during his set that made everyone go insane. The room got packed and all the trance heads moved to the front of the stage to cheer the man on. It was incredible to see the amount of people that really knew the music and where not just there to �be there�. Tracks I remember from John: Find Yourself, Giuseppe Ottaviani & John O'Callaghan - Our Dimension, Simon Patterson - Always Original Mix, John O'Callaghan - Don't Look Back, Talla 2XLC vs. Robert Burian - D�j� vu, John O'Callaghan feat. Josie - Out Of Nowhere (Stoneface & Terminal Remix), The Doppler Effect - Beauty Hides In The Deep (John O'Callaghan Remix), Ram � Ramsterdam, Armin Van Buuren feat. Audrey Gallagher - Hold On To Me, For me the best track PLAYED Claudia Cazacu feat Audrey Gallagher - Free Fallin!!! MY GOD THIS TRACK IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would had been awesome to have all this guys in the main room, but in the end, for whatever reason that did not happen, I�m Happy that you guys put all these guys together.
When we came in during Groove Armada we were in shock how the last 15 minutes sounded. Nothing against house music but damn, I usually go out to party and dance my ass off not to hear some boring stuff. Highlight from those last minutes was that 80�s track they played. Heheh
Eddie Halliwell in the main room as a closure gave this whole night a special vibe to it. He played a very Paul van Dykish sounding set, that pretty much set that room on fire. His mixing was on point and the energy from the crowd made him played a bunch of tracks� toooooo many actually he was sampling like 2 minutes of each track� heheh fast paced set.
Some random people told me �finally we get good music in this room�.
Anyway this EVENT gets a 10 from me. AWESOME JOB SKILLS & SPUNDAE!
The bigger draw acts were the house acts.
As much as we love Menno, O'Bir, etc....people know Deadmau5, Fischerspooner, DJ Dan, Groove Armada, and even Halliwell more than all those acts on the side room.
And if the main room was mixed with house and trance (and remember, not matter what you think the order should be in, when you deal with the rooms you can't have an act like Deadmau5 play early when he's prob the biggest draw of all the acts....so it wouldn't have been smart to put trance before him...like what happened at etd.POP, which everyone complained about afterwords.
ANd yeah, it'd be hard to go from the fast trance on the side room into Groove Armada. It just kills the progression in your mind...it comes down. Groove Armada made you ...w ell, groove, more than any other DJs. It wasn't about bouncing around or anything. The crowd was moving like you'd see a crowd move to a good Sasha or Digweed set.

the side room was great because you could enjoy the music without dealing with the thousand of other people, but but less of a vibe can build in a small room. It's not quite a club, and not quite a massive... Kinda weird....

Andy, well, it's Andy. Amazing set, finally some vocals, still not as high energy as I hoped but he did an amazing job. Other than a few times when he just kinda turned one track off to go to another. Lime just trainwrecking faces over another song suddenly. Overall he was great (maybe drunk)
JOC was amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect from him, but he was the best set I think. It was like, 2am and my friends and I danced more to him than any of the other artists!
Dyloot and whoever was with him just wasn't a good flow, killed it fast, everyone walked out. We tried to wait but we were tired and the vibe was dead by the time Eddie came on so we left, I'm sad I didn't see him play, JOC just made me dance toooooo hard

Think of it as a bonus, you got to hear the same DeadMau5 LovEvolution Parade set 3 more times at the after party. Guessing he had 30 min on the float and 1 1/2 at the AfterParty; I avoided him at both events but when I passed by the float w/ him on I was thinking, how does he stretch this one track out for a complete set...seems like it is the same track I always hear from him.
Here is my mini-review:
LoveParade - Loved it, but too many people being wheeled out from injuries; I didn't see any OD but plenty of puking and cracked open heads.
Event needs to be moved, it has out grown Civic Center, think GG Park is a must, the parking lot by the AT&T Park is too COLD.
Official AfterParty:
- Line was crazy long, it got better last year and so much worse this year. Over an hour to get in is ridiculous; why wasn't there two entrances like in the past?
- Production was sub-par for a Skills/Spundae production. Given that, it was still well done, just less than what you would expect from them. That is for the main room, side room is side room...I don't expect much.
- Music in the main room was not my style, I walked in and out to check out the artist because I have only heard most of the artists on MySpace. If you like it I guess you do, if you don't then so be it... The trance room is another story.
Jon O'Bir - Saw him at 1015, he was better and thought he did a good job.
Menno de Jung - Last saw him at 1015 and they had sound issues. Thought he was great, spun what I had expected.
Andy Moor - HUGE SURPRISE, I walked out of his set at Ruby because he was playing slow boring tracks but he brought it to the afterparty.
John O'Callahan - TORE IT UP!! that is all...
DJ Fei Fei and Gil LA - Nice surprise, never got to hear them before. It was obvious when Fei Fei threw down her tracks, she was rocking it and dancing hard.
Vibe died out and finished off w/ Eddie in the main room...wasn't too impressed...but thought he was better than his 6am set at WMC. Then again, I didn't stay long for 6am set to see if he progressed though the morning...
I would have went to the afterparty, but Billy forgot to tell me I was on the guest list

Any real music fan will eventually realize he is a fake. He has a few ver solid track. Ones that are in my iTunes "most played", the rest are ok at best....
But how can a dj play the same set so many times in a row?!?!? It's like it's pre recorded and he just messes with effects.....
Stop trying to dj, and work harder at being a producer....
It's just my opinion...
I think it may be prerecorded honestly. I THOUGHT he just used Ableton before hand or something. I don't know though. Been saying he was just a fad for the past year. Ha. I much rather would of seen David Guetta despite not really liking his new hip-hopish tracks he is a very skilled DJ.
one more bitch from me,
Deadmau5's biggest song, his closer every time, is actually only half him, its a Kaskade song.... More Kaskde then it is a D5 song too, the beat is not even his style.... BUT thats what he grew in popularity from more than any other track

i had a great time too. joc threw down! by far the best dj there. everything was cool except:
-they poured water into cups...wtf?
-they didnt allow backpacks...seriously tho that was retarded, expect people to bring backpacks to the day parade so let them in with them after a search. (my backpack got stolen cause i had to leave it outside...assholes)
-NOT WORTH THE MONEY FOR THE TICKET TO THE AFTERPARTY
...although i did have a good time, the event was not good enough to charge as much as they did for tickets.
when it all comes down to it, this is the sickest parade ive ever been to. i mean they closed down the biggest street in SF to have floats play electronic music...thats pretty fuckin epic. but the afterparty needs a lot of work to be compared to LA partys put on by insomniac.
You are comparing the production of a party that holds 9,000 vs a parties in LA that hold 40,000-70,000.
Dunno why the rule with the backpack, but I wouldn't be amazed if that was required to receive the permit to throw the event because of people getting drugs inside in the past.
Water into cups thing is a venue thing. They had signs everywhere that no bottles woudl be given out. Even whe nyou got soda, they poured it into a cup.

i wish you culd have heard and seen the water bottles at Nocturnal.... CRAZY sound as people shuffled out... it was kinda dangerous for slipping even on pavement, cant imagine what it would do on that floor
