OkiDokie, leave your school and join us in identifying tracks in different sets. We need you!

Posted by OkiDokie on Sep-25-2009 19:29:

I'd love to...but Im not very good in identifying tracks....I can try but really, Im not that good....plus Im a tranceaddict in training lol

Posted by djash on Sep-25-2009 20:18:

everybody was tranceaddict in training. I still live in fucking Ukraine, so when i had no internet, i just could buy illegal copies of Dream Dance or Club Rotation compilations and just record videoclips from VIVA (German music channel). So when i got internet at home first somewhere at the end of 2003, i was so impressed that so many tracks released, but i didn't know about artists. In the middle of 90ies i knew many artists and tracks but later it become very hard to find some new tracks. So i started from 56K modem. I had to spend 2 night to download my first set Ferry Corsten Retrospective Mix. From that set i started to collect livesets and search for tracklists, or for unknown tracks. You just have to start. I even just listen different radioshows and search for some unknown tracks in livesets.

You are right, everyone was a TA in training but you seem to be into edm for a long time now wow!

29. Faithless - Insomnia (Dean Newton and Huggy 2009 Remix)

Me, I've been into it for one year now, since I moved to Canada, that's why I dont think i would be really helpful with tracklist from back in 2000-2007. Anyway, that's why Im getting live sets and checking TLs so that I know for future sets

BTW, thanks for the advice and support, I really appreciate it

paca

you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice if you don't go and download old sets and buy old compilations. oakenfold's '99 essential mixes, tiesto's first isos compilations, sasha & digweed's communicate and northern exposure compilations, armin's basic instinct, markus' old stuff...the list is endless. the music now is good but i don't think i could listen to most of it like i can to the old stuff. on the other hand '99 was when i started clubbing so i have a nostalgic feeling when i think back to the beginning...

Posted by djash on Sep-27-2009 16:36:

You're right. I found website with old (very old) house sets, actually where house came from. So i downloaded livesets of Frankie Knuckles and other house DJ's from even end of 70ies, many 80ies sets. It's very interesting for me to listen old sets. I collected all sets, different styles as i like electronic music, not only trance. SO in my collection i can find sets of Westbam from 1990, some hardcore Carl Cox sets from the beggining of 90ies, Paul van Dyk sets from 1992, nowadays hardstyle guru The Prophet when he started from hardcore and his recorded sets since 1992. That list almost countless. So i can folow every DJ, what he did in last century, what he does in present time, and what to expect in the future from him. It's really very interesting. Tracks from sets of one DJ can be found in other sets of other DJ, so titles goes from one tracklist to another, as fans of Carl Cox can know some tracks from Tomcraft sets for example, so i just download different sets, listen them and search, if there are some matches with unknown tracks in different sets. A lot of work, but you will be glad, when find some title. As you can see in my signature, i tried to compile tracklist for those DJs, but don't have time sometimes to update it recently.

Woow!! It's very good to have the advice of some oldschool TA!
I've also heard that PVD's sets from 99-01 were pretty good too. I'll check out some old sets (specially the old Markus got my attention)

I hope you're right, i was thinking that the track was a total ID & unreleased one. Do you remember the name of the compilation? I'll look for the track if you tell me the comp name.

Ah, by the way, 24.Skytech - Comet

No sorry, dont remember.
But I think/have the feeling that its an ID of which one doesnt has to look into the (lets say) 'standard' playlist of
Markus w/ respect to producer/remixer (allthough usually Markus has a very wide/open-minded perspective on that).

This ID is really something spectacular.
The track lasts for almost 10 mins, is very repetitive, but sooo hypnotizing.
Very good track to build up the set.

I know that Markus posted in TA, maybe we could ask him by the IDs, just an idea...

And yes, the ID is amazing, is more trancier/hypnotizing than most of the supersaw "Trance" crap made by a lot of uplifting producers, for instance, Paul Miller.

Posted by chimera66 on Nov-25-2009 02:45:

he doesn't post but i know he's a lurker on occasion

Posted by OkiDokie on Nov-25-2009 02:54:

That would be awesome if someone can get that track.

Btw, the first 40 mins of that set are dope!!

It's the best part of the set, i made a rip containing just the first hour Markus should play more of these dark and deep tracks, would be totally amazing.

Also, i guess we could get help to ID these tracks from non-usual Markus listeners. As TheMaestro said about the ID "heard it before, but in a completely different setting some deephouse mix comp cd or something like that" . Unfortunately, i can't help because i don't use to hear this kind of stuff

PS: Tyr to remember, TheMaestro, we need that ID

I know, some of those tracks was the first time I heard them. Again, Im not really into the deep dark house. as you say, maybe other type of listeners could help us out here

To my feelings there's (luckily) no trance in it at all. BPM is way too low,
I think it sounds more like deep house, progressive house, almost ambient-like.
But then again, I think its even way too slow for deep house.

Posted by djash on Nov-25-2009 09:41:

sounds more like Sasha/Digweed progressive staff.

Posted by chimera66 on Nov-26-2009 01:26:

i concur not trancey at all

The first track really lasts for 22, it's 1 complete track. Hence ID#2 starts @ approx. 22 mins

That leaves me the question: has anyone ever found an ID for that track @ 22 mins?

Unfortunately not. I listen that part of the set almost everyday. I ran out of ideas, but if someone comes up with some new ones...I've time to do it because I'm on holidays.

And about that Remix for Cass & Slide I'm 99% sure it's a private remix made by Markus, I think I read it on his blog before he decided to ruin it creating that horrid version featuring Justine Suissa. I don't remember very well Markus' EM, but the tracklist says "Perception (Remix)" too and based on what I found on his blog "I had the instrumental done with bootlegged samples from the original for around a year" I think we could call it as Markus Schulz Bootleg or something like that. Anyway, here it's the link where I found the info http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?...logId=534006182

Posted by chimera66 on Jul-14-2010 02:00:

it's not a bootleg, he redid it using another singer so it's even more than a remix markus schulz ft justine suissa - perception.
