Originally posted by wienerschnitzel there's a lot of bullshit in this thread. i understand some people choose not to have children because of their career or they like to spend their life traveling ect. but not because kids are brats that shit themselves and have public temper tantrums. that cannot be the only reasons you do not want to have a kid. I don't know what kind of kids some of you idiots have been watching but if you actually raise your child with respect, disapline, consistancy and a shit load of love, they actually turn out pretty decent. It doesn't take rocket science to do this. I have seen some horrific parents, and some pretty ridiculous children as a result, but for every fucked up family i know 10 families that were able to parent and raise their kids sucessfully. yukki it sounds like your big fear of children is you're afraid they will turn out like you. and i suppose that is legitimate.
and pretty much agree with this whole post.
P.S. I want wiener to be my mom.
i want weiner's daughter lol
Perfect, you take little wiener, and then big wiener can be my mom.

thanks! and i'm keeping the pregnancy on the down-low.. i'm only 7 weeks along and i could still loose it (probably not) so don't write anything on my facebook! i should also maybe mention that before i had my first kid i was pretty selfish and immature, but i made a decision to be a good parent and so i put myself second to her and i've grown up alot in the process.
i'm sure everything will be fine but i wont say anything. i hope you get a boy!
Sure, but not just yet. My girlfriend is bugging me about it all the time though, "when are we gonna have children, huh huh huh+?"?". I'm 25, I don't wanna be a dad yet. But I'm thinking before I'm 30.

no arbiter it's more like
1. someone she is very close with got pregnant so she got to see firsthand the experience of being pregnant
2. new experience and liking it
3. maturing

Thanks Slylee but I already understood her underlying rationalizations from her earlier post.
As for your other ideas: I'm a person who can't take orders. My reaction to being bossed around is generally to play along and then betray the would-be boss at the most sensitive possible moment. I'm pretty sure that makes me a bad fit for the military.
Hitman isn't a bad choice, though. I could see myself doing that.

I think the way kids turn out has more to do with genes than anything else, assuming the parents don't screw up in a really extreme way (malnourishment, abuse, etc.).

Originally posted by Lira I'm not sure. Kids love me, and I like them too. But, is life something I'd wish to someone else? Would I want to raise a child? I think I may end up adopting a child that is already in this mess we call world, rather than spawning a couple of brats to replace myself. /QUOTE] [QUOTE]Originally posted by SuspicionVandit I'd rather much adopt a needy child.

Originally posted by The17sss All children are needy... why not have one with your own genes rather than some creepy outsider when you have little to no knowledge of their genetic and medical family history? Shit man... last thing you want is to end up with one that has the retard gene or a family history of mental illness.... or something crazy.

Originally posted by Lira Because an adopted child is already alive - it's already here. It's different than bringing someone else to this world because you're not adding one more needy kid to the context. As for my genes, we're not that much different to begin with. I don't think there are "outsiders" to begin with, unless you can prove me the child was brought to Earth by sneaky aliens that want to know what a human family is like. Unlikely as it is (the alien origin, that is), I can't see a reason not to adopt a child.

Evolutionary lag? That sounds so condescending. You're making it seem like it's somehow wrong to want your own offspring. Guess what? It's not.
