I don't find "attempting suicide" and actual suicide on the same playing field. |
That's actually not true. People who really want to end it just do it. They generally don't offer much explanation or give any hints about it. That doesn't mean that all suicide threats shouldn't be taken seriously...but there IS a difference between one who really needs to end it, and one who just needs attention.
agreed with idoru. Mel its the same thing.

| Originally posted by idoru It was out of context with Jay, which is why many of us decided to take it seriously. Also, how is attempting suicide not "on the same playing field"? In both scenarios, the individual goes in with the intent of ending their life. The only difference is the outcome; one person succeeds by making the trigger go click (and really, they're only attempting to kill themselves until the bullet hits the right part of the body), the other person fails by taking the wrong dose or not tying the noose tight enough. At the end of the day, each individual chose to end their life and acted accordingly. |

It's a cry for help. Even when I was receiving texts messages in Miami about this - during WMC.. and I did truly believe it because of what I am STILL going through....... when I found out it was through pills I had a feeling it was more of a cry for help then an actual suicide. I guess that's where we differ. I won't get into it anymore. |
or you just really want to nit pick with what I say because maybe I didn't say it the same way Jenny did - but I agree with what Jenny said.
Oh well, who cares. Let's all get back to making fun of the OP. We were doing that, right?

I am prob not even one of the ppl Omega is talking about but I just get irked that he needs to even be brought up or compared with Jay because now that we do know the outcomes.. they are not the same.

What the fuck are you talking about? That's common knowledge, right out of my psych nursing text AND as witnessed working in the mental hospital. Call me a moron all you want, but any person in the mental health field will tell you the same thing. My post has nothing to do with Jay, idiot. Get fucked.

| Originally posted by Lews Yeah, you're completely right. That's why attempted murder and murder are so different. Trying to do something but failing is sooo different then trying and succeeding. Clearly not as depressed. People who just attempt should try harder or stop crying. |
A buddy of mine shot himself last summer. He was experiencing psychosis for quite some time and didn't want to take meds...but he just couldn't take it anymore and killed himself.
Then there was my friend's room mate who had a massive gambling addiction and owed a bunch of people money and shit. He took off for three or so days and left behind all of these elaborate envelopes with notes addressed to people in his life apologizing for everything and being very cryptic. The envelopes had pictures, cards, videotapes, other personal trinkets...
The police caught him before he had the chance to get where he was going - which was a plane to Las Vegas.
He was charged with all kinds of counts of fraud. Turns out he had been showing their apartment for months and just keeping the deposit money.
Lol.
