so you wanna buy equipment?? how can producers use this equipment?? i guess the equipment won't be just around the corner... how do you wanna solve that??

Robert

This is the UK part of the TA label we ae talkin about mostly here.. in which case wherever we put the equipmenteveryting its no more than 3 hours train ride from anywhere.. i think the best idea for deciding where all the stuff is gonna be is simple, we look for places to hire out, and we pick the one that looks most suitable..

I think it would probably be better if we looked for the studio to hire instead of buyin the equipment... so look for that kind of thing i know of one place close to me but i will have to inquire about pricage

Peace

i think the studio would be a good idea..
in london.. theres loads of them.. but i dunno how willing ppl are to travel to london just for the studio ya know..

Posted by tu_face on Apr-26-2001 14:14:

see dis is the problem... we need bodies all in one place to get this thin6g off its knees, i'd be willing to spend a week or two in london.. fuck, i'd live there if it wasnt so damn expensive and so damn far from gatecrasher...

Posted by Robert on Apr-26-2001 22:35:

man screw the studio... we need to spend less time worrying about all this stuff. we're spending to much time trying to get a studio/vinylcutter/etc and not enough time producing. all this studio stuff will be very unlikely for the moment now anyway.

less talk, more rock (so to speak)

robert

Posted by tu_face on Apr-27-2001 08:10:

Smile all fine and dandy.. but...

the whole point in this label is to get the producers/dj's on here heard and played... how r we gonna do that without the use of a vinyl cutter? And u say we need more producing to be done.. on what? pirated versions of reason? hehh thats major league illegal... now normally i wouldnt give a shit but if we want to release stuff its all gotta be kosha unfortunatly

peace

Posted by breakdown on Apr-27-2001 10:21:

i agree with tuface..
without studio /production capabilities, we're back where we started...
thats the thing we need

Posted by Robert on Apr-27-2001 10:21:

who's gonna know what that we made it with an illegal version of reason?? and as far as i can see we don't need a cutter. it's probably cheaper to the stuff cut/pressed for you somewhere.

robert

No one has to know what you use to produce a track... it's your business and your business only...

I'd say the best way to get started is to look for some good trance artists and start to promote them... it could start with just a website and expand from there...

Smoking ..umm..something

if u want to look for some studios around the Midlands or London, theres some good ones in DJ magazine if u like I can give u the address and numbers just give me a shout! Count me in for definate I've been really productive at the moment trying to create some trancey basslines, and synths, i've also been trying to create a track with some major breakdowns! All time consuming but I enjoy it!

you can do that.. get it cut/pressed somewhere.. but then this should be established as a PROPER label.. we need our own stuff.
I have not contributed much in this thread mainly coz i feel i can't help in any way due to my busy time with studies but I agree with tu_face that we DO need to get a FULL studio.. that includes having our OWN vinyl cutter

Posted by breakdown on Apr-27-2001 22:37:

ok.. lets get things straight here...

1) we aren't using artists from outside TA - reason is that that kinda defeats the idea of the TA label
2) we do need equipment / studio of somesort.. or access to a cutter
3) we need contacts
4) we aren't gonna have anything to do with www.mp3.com
5) thats all i have to say =p

Posted by Dj O'Callaghan on Apr-27-2001 23:03:

Smile

That sounds all cool to me! I've been working on some tracks I made a good track on e jay (I know its really basic) But its good it just needs the synths and breakdowns speeding up

Tell me if you want any addresses for studios in London or the Midlands I've got shit loads of numbers. And so be it I will travel to London to record materialif needed

well let me put it this way. a studio in london or the midlands won't do me any good over here. i think all we need is one or two good track to get this whole thing started...

robert

Posted by DjTS-NeXiLe on Apr-28-2001 10:21:

Yeh, i agree. I think everyones taking this hypothetical (at this stage) label too far. You only have to think.. what is a label and realise all you need is some good music/djs/producers and an audience. Well youve certainly got both but your all going around looking for vinyl cutters and studios which isnt needed really.
You can contract people to do vinyl cutting.
You can do the same for cd's.
You can hire out studios...
or many people have home studios...
but do you really need one ?

I dont know but thats my thoughts of the situation.
Peace... Repect... and *bump*

They have a subliminal message in the background saying "This Dj Cracked Reason. Call 555-3458704 and report them now" which can only be heard in a frenquency higher than the human ear can recognise...

mmm

Thats what we are looking for if u had read and trancenation... ill say it again, this what we are talking about is mainly the UK side of the label. Its not up to us in the UK to sort shit out in Holland is it?

We want to make this label work, and we want this label to be big. We may well start off hiring and borrowing equipment, but we still need to cost the equipment for the time when we come to buy it...so we have an idea of how much cash we will need to be self sufficient

Peace

Posted by DjTS-NeXiLe on Apr-28-2001 10:38:

Hmmm... u make US sound so inferior... mmm. Well lets lynx do it anywayz... he'd kick my ass @ it anyway. Besides i dont have much time so...

l8erz

Posted by breakdown on Apr-28-2001 11:34:

inferior?
no..
we are just saying that the UK probably has a better base for starting up.. because everyone is accessible within a few hours, unlike the US where contacts are scattered around..
studios and contacts here are around london and probably a few other places around UK.. so it would make things a lot easier... and i personally think, trance is easier to promote in europe than US due to the market

Posted by DjTS-NeXiLe on Apr-28-2001 11:37:

Hmmm better market = yes !
Hey everyone... dont count yemen out of the picture tho... still a very useful country !
