Why do things need to be complicated in order for them to be right? Sure, some things do. But not everything.

So I've been brought up with the idea that, one day, I'm going to marry a woman with whom I'm going to share the rest of my life...

So if that's what you're going to do, why can't others do what they want? In addition, you still haven't answered my previous question, so I'll ask again...

Alright, I'm only going to say this. If you don't feel that your beliefs make you "happy", then why hold onto them?

You can't even explain what makes it right though! Based on what? How? According to what authority??

Yeah, man, shut down that little bitch's lemonade stand.

When life hands you lemons, legalize gay marriage.

You make it sound like I'm the only one who holds that belief? Prop 8 was passed, wasn't it?

And I didn't see your question. I know that I can change my beliefs, but, if I do, it doesn't feel like I'll be any happier than I already am. And, when I said "wasn't happy", I didn't mean I was inordinately contrite or sad or whatever, because I'm quite content.

Tradition?

What tradition? Who's tradition?

The traditional view of marriage?

Oh nevermind, I know.

The South had a lovely tradition called slavery. Don't know if you've heard of it.

Calling something tradition does not excuse anything.

I've said, time and again, that some traditions ought to be kept.

According to WHO? How did the traditional view of marriage come to be? God you fucking suck at this. I bet you fail every time you write an essay.

FUCK YOU, JENNIFER. FUCK YOU.

No, I completely understand that many people hold the same beliefs as you do. However, that sentence was worded in a truly self-centered manner and you made it sound like, "Well, I was told I would do this, so everybody else should, too."

Well that's what it came off as. You desperately need to work on the way you word your posts, because you're failing hard right now.

Even if they are discriminatory and unjust?

Why should we hold on to them?

But I've already explicitly said that I wasn't asserting anything beyond my own belief.

'Cos fags make me want to puke my fucking guts out. Jesus Christ, Lews, is it really that hard to understand?

No, I understand, Hal.

Besides, if they legalize gay marriage, then

You can call it discriminatory. But unjust? How is it unjust if I've said that gay unions should be allowed and they should receive the same benefits?
