no offense, but im not an idiot. been listening to dance music for 7 years, thanks, and ive been following paul van dyk for 3+.
and if you had ever seen him in new york (and im sure our fellow-fans in berlin will attest to the same thing), it is a fact that he plays techno tracks in his sets, among others.
there is a fucking reason he doesnt call himself a trance dj. despite whatever you think he is, he plays a lot more than that.... that is why shorter sets are not the whole pvd experience, there is a lot more to him. and he has always played techno in new york, just has not played as much as he did since the twilo days. he uses it to drive the energy level through the roof... and no, i would not compare the techno he plays to mauro.... techno pvd plays is just insanely loud energetic beats and yes it always leads to banging trance.... maybe it wasnt really a quarter of his set, but that is what it seemed like to me. back in twilo, his set always had a lot of techno.
by the way, what would you think tracks by people like chris leibing are? well, normally a pvd set might include one or two songs like this.... a 6 hour set like last nights includes many many songs like this. driving hard edge.... mind you, he also played a little hard house and some hard trance as well is a short progressive break in there too.
Who the fuck is Chris Liebing? And if PvDs ever spun techno in a set, I couldn't tell. And I have never seen PvD up in NY. I don't have anything left to go back to. And where the fuck is Twilo?
alright dude, dont worry about it. my point in posting at this forum was that pvd was off da hook last night, and hopefully a mindblowing performance is coming your way. i dont mean that rhetorically, he really did blow us away last night.
twilo, was the best club the USA has ever seen (maybe ever will see). yes, better than 34....and about three times the size. it was shut down in new york in may 2001. before that, they had the best residencies with sasha and digweed coming every month and pvd every two months and the big name techno dudes like richie hawtin etc etc. it was the best club i have ever been to....because i have yet to party in europe.
Why'd they shut Twilo down? And who? Was it the bureaucrat dickheads, smiliar to the shitfuck down here that tried to get Space to get shut down? As for me, I've never gone clubbing in NY. I had no reason to. I doubt Twilo existed in '98, which was the very last time I was ever in NY.
Oh, and I'm sure it was a great show...He almost always delivers. I'm sure 11/22 will be fantastic.
it was shutdown by the city of new york. they got them on legal technicalities or something but the motivation behind it was related to drug use.... but twilo was an amazing club about bringing good music to the US. one thing was when people OD'd they wouldnt report it, they used their own private ambulances and i guess it was shit like that the caused the City to be a bastard and shut it down.

You know.. it was pretty cool; when I was in NY for the first time this summer I was taken on a tour after seein Tenaglia at ARC by a NY TA known as HIGHMAY on these boards heh and he showed me where Twilo used to be. Man I wish I could have had the experience of partyin at that club. I have heard so many amazing things about that place. It was a weird feeling to see it all vacant with freakin tumbleweeds blowing by it at 8am after partying all night Nah jk but I when we stopped i just imagined the craziness that went on in there.
