yeah i do my best mate, specially recently. when i first started releasing music i happened to like the sound that was popular at the time, i didnt know much about electronic music. while being unique is important to me its not the only thing that i give a fuck about. i often enjoy music of a particular style that maybe popular. at the end of the day although alot of trance especially sounds the same to most people (including me) there is still good trance and piss poortrance. Anergy - Rivers Place, is the most typical sounding trance track ever, its pure trance, nothing unique at all, but its AMAZING. the production is great, the melody is absolutely mind blowing and it works well in that style. so i like it. you still need to accept that people like what they like man. its not because they are too narrow minded to listen to anything else its because they enjoy it more than everything else. not everyone is the same as you.

Yeah, but it's usually because they don't know any better. I'd probably still be listening to trance if I didn't go out LOOKING for different music. The trance was good, but hey, I'm inquisitive by nature. It's all down to whether they want to put effort into finding better music, or if they want to stick to something they *think* they like best (but how would they know?).

well why do you care so much? if the music is really that much better then it would be more popular. give me some links to samples of music that you consider superiour so that i can see exactly what stuff ur on about.

Is it any wonder myself and Az we're the only 2 people you gave as an example? We're really the only 2 who openly call your productions shit. You really are one bitter fuck.

Well a thread full of people claim my mix is okay so I don't know, you tell me. I think I am ok, but then again everyone is their own worst critic. Don't you think it seems a little bit odd that the only person calling me shit is the only one with an obvious vendetta against me. You can deny being bothered all you like from me saying you're shit, but taking the time to pm me, for example....

what did you mean by that? have you heard any of my music recently?

mike

.... obviously suggests otherwise. I don't think you're fooling anyone son.

Like I said, you're not fooling anyone son. I wouldn't even be suprised if you hadn't even downloaded it, yet alone listened to it. You are a fool, and an obvious one at that.

No, because it couldn't be anymore obvious what you are doing here. Your whole train of thought is there for all to see:

- Oh no, Mike and Az have called my productions shit.
- Ah and opportunity to save face...
- You and Az are shit DJ's

It's painfully shit to read. This is getting boring.

what? so u think that i actually think that ur good djs but im just saying ur shit because im bitter? plenty of people dont like my music, it doesnt really bother me because there are also people who do. the difference is, i know that i possess a certain degree of skill, whereas you have none. lol. anyway im bored of this thread and im satisfied that ive made my point.

No, i'm not thinking that at all. For all I know, yes that might be the case, or no you might genuinely not have enjoyed it at all. But what I do know is that if you really did listen to that mix, there is no way anyone can claim I am 'shit.' The mixing was of a decent standard, and the playlist flowed well. Whether that style of music is your cup of tea or not certainly does not warrant the comment 'you are a shit dj.' There is only so many times I can see this now before I have to start drawing you pictures to explain. You havn't really made any point in this thread other than you are a bitter cunt.

he doesn't in the full sense, he's just of the opinion that the filth being released now is not upto the quality of tracks such as Aria - Dido, Gaia - 4 Elements and Alibi - Eternity to name 3.

Because I think he plays to please the masses. He plays middle of the road, offensively unoffensive, boring (imo) music. Okay, so this style of music might appeal to you. The point is, the fact that it's a little bit on the trancey side and a little bit on the proggy side means it's going to take to quite a number of people who are into their prog, and also to a lot of people who listen to their trance. Hence, music for the masses. Now what particulary sickens me about this is in the past I have seen Armin play sets like this for example:

46. V-One - Dead Cities (Force Mass Motion Remix)
47. Silvio Ecomo - No Dip (Mac Zimms Remix)
48. DHS - House Of God (Azzido Da Bass Remix)
49. underworld - Born Slippy (Original Mix)
50. Marco V - Milla
51. D-Factor - The Wrong Shake (Jamie Anderson Remix)
52. Umek - Gatex (Armin Van Buuren Remix)
53. Taiko - Silence (The Joker Remix)

This to me is shit hot. There is thought put into that little segment of his set, and it's pleasing to hear. I refuse to believe that his shift in playlist has been due to anything other than trying to please the masses and become popular. That is a shit attitude to me.

spot on mate, sadly this 'change' has pleased all of the americans plus people who missed the 1997-2002 era. It doesn't seem to be about the music for many of these guys anymore, they can't honestly think they're making progress by releasing watered down pap

Posted by DOOMBOT on Jul-26-2005 16:13:

But he has openly admitted to the fact that he doesn't like all of the songs that he plays on ASOT. He is just giving producers AND listeners a chance. To me, that is absolutely wonderful and how anyone can knock that, well... that just doesn't make sense to me. But, from my personal experience of seeing Armin live, it is a completely different ballgame from listening to his ASOT mixes. Armin live is truley a wonderful experience that almost all can agree with.
