For some WIERD reason,

The KH parties I ALWAYS enjoy (and enjoy the MOST) are the ones where the stage is set up where it was today - on the left-hand side!

I NEVER seem to enjoy NEARLY as much the parties when it's on the right-hand side. The flow seems off, my "vibe" gets thrown for some reason.

Even when it's situated at the front area of KH, it's better than the rigth-hand side, but still NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD as when it's on the left-hand side!

+100 for Kool Haus setting up the stage there! I LOVED IT!

ok mofos.. im home in Tampa now....

its past midnight and still no sleep... i was king of the sketch after leaving the club...

ok about the night though
KH:
porter: dunno
junkie: too much like Sander but i liked his energy (was that him doing the stage dives at the end of B&J's set?)
picotto: bah.. techno.. but it was exactly what i expected... and truthfully appreceiated his lull in the middle of his set... it cleared out the KH and allowed people to talk without yelling... and blown away that he played Komodo and Iguana... that is what made me love the old picotto... now techno.. blaha
b&j: the main reason why i came to Toronto... but that was about when i proceed start pulling face so all i remember is that it was good trance and when mel was like OMG so and so track im like "umm sure i have no idea what you said"...

Guv:
Second Sun: listened for 1min and heard too much vocals so back to KH

as for the TOTAs..

crazy bunch... you know you are... and ya.. id fail the name game if i was tested today... after about an hour i stopped introducing myself to people as Brent anymore... i was just like im Zewad

ok im done... spent and need sleep...

wish the night was more trance and less of the variety pack...

see you at LOL bitches!!

Nice, someone who actually enjoyed it like I did. Cheers!

His first hour or so was banging tech, so I don't understand how anyone can fall asleep. But yea like I said..most people don't get or appreciate the minimal stuff. They're definately missing out

YES, mine as well..not really a fun thing to witness and I already wasn't enjoying the night either.. I had my moments in the night but I have had much better nights out and if I had missed this party, the only DJ I would have regretted not seeing would have been Porter!!!

Porter had an amazing vibe, so full of energy and was just banging out the tunes.. had the crowd rockin and jumpin! He was definitely the highlight of the night and I personally think he stole the show in both KH and Gallery Completely underrated.. this guy deserves more recognition.

Picotto started off his set with banging techno beats.. I was actually excited when he first started and was completely pumped.. then I found myself getting a little bored with it and minimal.. yeah, no thank you! I don't want to go to a club to hear minimal techno.. Although this was my first time seeing him I didn't really know what to expect.. but I ended up leaving through the set to see Porter again in the Gallery.. when I returned he was still on..cutting into B&J's set as well.. either way, he should have stuck with what he started with and I would have been more interested.

Junkie XL.. highlights only.. Beauty Never Fades and his remix of Fight for Your Right.. that is it, that is all!

Blank and Jones.. I danced very little.. was dancing at the back when Perfect Silence came on and near the end for a little while. Other than that I spent the rest of the time sitting on a couch. I didn't enjoy their set.. I heard so many small flaws in their set. It is funny when you really sit back and just listen instead of being wrapped up in your surroundings the little things you hear
I just wasn't in the mood for them and I really didn't like any of the trance sets played last night.. It was more fun to sit and watch everyone else having a good time

There are way too many shoutouts.. but I had a wicked time coming out with everyone since it has been awhile since I have seen most of you anyhow..haha..saw a few people I haven't seen in awhile and my good times were had only cuz you guys were there

and to my PTA mofos representin.. w00t w00t!!!
It was soo good to have the crew back and in full effect lastnight.. it has been way to long and this is not to happen again.. Guv 9 yr until now is too long!!! LOL. Nada & Ali..I <3 you! Thanks again for everything..

Awesome time!

Both Porter and Junkie XL played good sets. But I was really there to hear 2 other acts on this night. The first one came on at 2am and they were awesome. Second Sun peformed some very predictable tracks - but it's all good. I enjoyed it. Great show put on by the Canadian boys!

Headed over to The Gallery at 3:30 to listen to some house music (and more importantly - avoid Mauro "oh so boring" Picotto) and rest my feet. Then headed over to KH at about 4:15 to hear the last few minutes of Picotto before the 2nd act i've been waiting for on this night was to step up to the decks.

Blank & Jones came on at 5 started off a bit slowly but then they hit their stride after about 2 or 3 tracks. Awesome stuff! Kept me going for rest of the night and had be begging to get them off the stage so I could go home. But I couldn't forgive myself if I left early. We may have even got another extra half hour from them if Picotto had gotten off then we was supposed to.

Overall it was great night. The TA vibe was outstanding!

Bigups to John Tang and Ben - thank you both

Margaret - sorry for spilling your drink.
Ryan - thank you for buying me a drink.

It was a wierd night. A good one though. haha

See you all next week!

SOOOOOOOOO.....what a f****ing party u guys! It's 2 am and im still wired ! Besides the fact that it took us three and a half hours to get to TO from London...driving in the worst possible conditions, we made it!
Tyler and Max...you boys are gold! Thanks so much for taking care of things! I owe u big!
So after a much needed shot of rye, the night begins.
The Pre-meet was a success, finally got to meet Eric (Vivid), it was an honour! As well as another TA, Eric's sidekick whose name i don't remember...my apologies. After that it was off to the Guv...after a nice cold wait to get in through guestlist we are in and welcomed with free booze by Smirnoff...that was cool. Steve Porter played a great warmup set. Junkie XL was awesome! Talk is one amazing track! We cut his set short to go see Second Sun in the Guv. They killed it what an outstanding performance! They opened with Staring at the Sun, then dropped The Spell, He Said She Said, I'm Free, Crush, Playground, just to name a few. Went back to KoolHaus to see what Picotto was up to...and it wasnt much except Komodo , it was just as well as it gve me a chance to sit down and rest before Blank and Jones took over....and did they ever!!!! Every track was amazing! I was going nuts! Ended the whole experience with an awesome mini afterparty with Second Sun and their wickedly cool friends at the Pantages Hotel !

Jem, I was so freaking happy to see you! SOOOOOOO glad u came, it ws such a wonderful surprise.
Vlad it was great to see u finally! But next time u owe me double singalongs seeing as u took off on me for all the good songs , luckily i found some other crazy dudes to scream along with...i have no idea who they were but they were loving the set as much as me which is all that counts lol
Bobby, so good u came out...it's been ages since we partied! U need to come out more!
Andrew, Kelly, Jody, Dan, Jay, Barry, Spitty, Nada, Lisa, Cale, Cono_Sur(cant remember your real name), Sasha, Alex (Tyler's sis), Paula, Laura, Shanny, Roman, Mahan, IvanTa + crew, and anyone else who i ran into, it was great to see u all and I can't wait till next time...u guys make these parties 100% better with ur presence
Mr.Smith and London_TA it was nice to meet you, u were giving it all the way till morning....it's what i love to see!

To all my London geeks that came out....it was AWESOME to see your happy faces there, the more of you the better!
And my very special geeks - Natty, Steph, Monia, and Maja...I love u girls with all my heart..i can't imagine id have fun anywhere without u girls by my side...we make the best party team! And shoutouts to some new friends Greg and Ryan....it was a pleasure partying with u boys, we'll definately be seeing more of you!

And Josh...your presence was greatly missed! As if all night something was missing...hurry back u geek!

+1

I for one...looooooooooove Techno.. and Picotto wasn't going anywhere with that set. The only downer of the night for me. Porter killed it both places, Deko-ze too, all the other dj's as well were good incl. B&J So glad to see sooooooo many TA's old and new who I haven't seen in a while, incl. the FLTA's. I guess the whole experience was a bit overwhelming, especially meeting so many new online "friends". Appologies to anyone trying to talk with me late in the night.. I wasn't quite in my normal state of mind.

Overall, good night!

Posted by starsearcher on Feb-06-2006 07:31:

I personally didn't think Picotto was THAT bad really...but then again I haven't seen him much before, only once. Possibly if he was on before Junkie XL it would've been a different story because Junkie just blew the roof off the place

for my review of the other dj's, we shall play a little game. match the dj names to the corresponding images that give a visual description of each respective dj's performance.

1. junkie xl
2. mauro picotto
3. second sun

good luck.

Steve was ready to pass out by the time he went on... then i brought brought him a red bull & vodka with a good 4 or 5 ounces of vodka in in it... woke him a bit

i thought you're not supposed to mix redbull and alcohol.

it says right on the can... apparently it's lethal. But i think it might just be a coincedence.

sadly enough, the government was about to ban redbull from canada because people mix it with alcohol

OMFG I know exactly what you're talking about. I had abit of space in front of me that I was fully using for dancing in KH, and I see this one fat guy moving through, so I step back to let him pass, and he fucking stands right in front of me. I went down from having a good 3 feet around me of space to almost none! WTF, you bastard!

Anyway, review:

Got in at like 12:30 or so.

Mark Oliver (I think it was him) was opening up with a great set in the Guv. Upbeat House or Housey Trance or something. Whatever it was, I liked it a lot. Went to see Junkie XL at like 1:30 or something.

He was awesome. Hightlight of the night for me for suuuuuuure. Fucking sick mix of guitars and Trance. Coldplay - Talk was stuck in my head on the ride home. Liked his whole set, and stuck around till he closed.

Then Picotto opened with some high pitched noise. I thought maybe something was wrong technically - it was way too loud, and no way that noise could be what he wanted, right? So I gave him like 25 mins to get better. He didn't. More noise overlaid with a bassline. I left for Guv.

Yay for Second Sun. Saw them for the first time on Halloween, and they were great then, and were just as great now. Always awesome to hear them perform "Crush", as well as that last song they dropped to close - wtf was that, cause it was siiiiick. And the energy just overflows from these guys.

Heard Mark Oliver start up with another great set. This one was pure Trance, and sick Trance as well. At this point it was 4:15am and I was debating whether or not to stick around to hear B&J open, as I had work the following day. I'm glad I decided against it as they came on late (and their set looked a lot like the one they played at LOL, or at least worse).

I dunno what it was, but the vibe was just off for me in the Guv. Suddenly all the things that usually don't bother me started to really irritate me. The pushy people. The lack of space to move. The cracked out old Asians. The people smoking weed or cigs on the dancefloor. I wasn't enjoying Second Sun's set as much as I should have been.

Bah! So it was Starsearcher who was in front of me for the whole Junkie XL set. Feel kinda bad about not saying anything to you now - but I didn't want to have another one of those "Hey, are you a TA" "No, I'm on E" conversations.

LOL too bad I missed that...I felt like the defender of justice that night... I guess I was at Second Sun during that time...

Speaking of fights, other than the one that was about to go down in the lineup, I found that the old pervs were in full effect last night! On two occasions (2 different guys) with Adrenalina and one other guy Dani (kamiko) THAT'S THREE OF THEM!!!, there were these pervs that were trying to rub up against our TOTA hotties . I know they can easily take care of themselves, but I just can't tolerate that shit so I had to step in. I shoved 2 of them back, but luckily no fights were started.

they say that because it intensifies the effects of both the alcohol and the caffiene in the redbull.. ones and upper and the other a downer. Everyone still drinks them together though, and it's still better then what most people in the building were putting in their bodies
