Since Metro seem to have no idea, any of you guys have a rough idea about the cost of tickets on the door?

Cheers

Damn didn't know about the set changes till they'd already happened, had alot of fun.

Main highlights were meeting ALOT of new people big hello to any of those who can remember me.

also julian playing habersham - dryspell
and virgina opening with around the world

Posted by minski on Dec-27-2006 01:34:

fuckin sweet nice, very much loving the gatecrasher right now. Restored my faith in trance to get me goin.

j00f's opener was amazing, as well as a track like 3 or 4 in that Id love to get my hands on. Anyone got the ID's for those?
GTR imo standout of the night, brilliant work.

Posted by sunrise3500 on Dec-27-2006 02:57:

I was dissapointed, especially with GTR. Dissapointment meal. First 45 minutes were terrible. It picked up for a bit, then crap again, then was alright with some classics at the end, but by then was way over it. Seems to prefer to play what pays. His set 2 years ago was brilliant, it was very different, he only played trance then.

Also again, too bad with what happend to the side room - times being pushed back +++++. *shakes head*

Posted by vman83 on Dec-27-2006 03:35:

what a fun night that was... meet so many friendly people was awesome

J00f's set was fekin mongorific!

GTRs wasnt bad either but i was feeling way too drunk too enjoy it, had to let the guts settle... music was sweet

Bens set was my favorite. Started off UBER vocal uplifting. Like, how many vocal tracks where in there ? oh, fekkin awesome then he banged it up for a bit in prep for Smurf. I would have loved to see ben play for longer then an hour... ben tracklist please. i remember hearing should have known and yahel - behind silence in there somewhere.

mongn @ work is not teh fun !

Posted by Deeman on Dec-27-2006 05:43:

Farkin awesome night loved every minute of it. So many of us rocked up and it was just a buzz to be there. J00F cained it, man he was fucking spesh and Benny rocked on straight after, top set mate.

Hehe I'm at work right now, no sleep and still feeling the effects of munt, man this shit hurts! lol

Set changes were definitely a disappointment but what can you do?

Nice to finally meet you Rysh, next time I will not be so tired and we can have a more humane conversation

Julian Reynolds playing Habersham? Do you have proof?

I really enjoyed Dave Lee, has been so long since I listened to trance and he kept me awake

What happened to the decor? and why was the top room closed while Jeremy K was playing?

Looked like all the TA's were having a blast. Good to see you all out, even is I was half asleep and under the weather.

Posted by DJ_StEviE on Dec-27-2006 10:09:

Overall a disappointing night for me.

Poor turnout caused half the place to be closed (or closed off early). Therefore resulting in DJ's being cancelled or having there set times reduced significantly.

Drinks seemed to increase during the night. I paid $7.50 for scotch and coke at the start of the night. By the end it was $8.50. Reminded me of the fuel price changes from Tuesday to Wednesday. Questioning this with the bar staff got me no where (surprise surprise). Cloke room was $5, thats the most I have ever paid to put my jacket away for 3hrs. Sound quality in metro is shit. I thought it was refurbed? The setup is now worse coz the boothes at the back are gone so you can't sit down. There is no point having that back area opened up to dance when you can barely hear the music properly.

GTR: Played some good tunes. Couldnt work out where his set was going. Playing some 2001 hard cheese then some new ferry and uplifting stuff. Seemed up and down. Then again that could have been me not be able to hear it properly.

J00F: First time I have heard him play. Solid mixing, psy-style, thumping basslines. Shows he's is a veteran with the transitions and set building. Some cool tunes. Wouldnt mind hearing him play again at a better venue.

Not sure Ill be going back to metro again for a party. Or maybe I am just getting old. :-(

cj bolland - the prophet

that is all

Dancing Dude

GATECRASHER!!!

What a fun night!!! I don't even really know where to begin.
I met so many friendly people, and a few more TA's as well, which is always nice

GTR played good! Some fantastic tracks, and hearing Mistral was definately the highlight of the night!!!

JOOF, hell, what can I say? I've seen him roughly 7-8 times now and this was probably one of the weakest I've heard from him.... But... that doesn' mean he still rocked my fucking socks off!!!
JOOF proves time and time again that he is the man! He doesn't just go up there to play a few tunes, the man puts on a fucking show!
Soon I will upload a 7 minute video of Joof's intro! I've watched it several times now, and it doesn't get any less exciting! As Philby said CJ Bolland - The Prophet... where the fuck did that come from??? Pure awesomness!

Ben Evans... King of Vocal Trance!!!!!!! LOL
Fucken quality set though mate! You had me on the floor, and following JOOF is NO easy task! Nice tracks mate, and mixing was super tight as well. Good job mate, well worth some Gatecrasher status

Metro...
Honestly, probably the nicest club I've seen in Melbourne! I really liked the Queensbridge Hotel, but there's something about Metro that I really really liked! Maybe it was the insane laser set-up, but the over feel of the club was awesome. You can enjoy the party from every spot in there, and even if the sound quality wasn't the best,
it was nice to hear the sound at a good volume, while not having to ask the person next to me to repeat, and scream in my ear everytime they said something.

Fucking great night! Melbourne does it to me again! You're making it harder and harder for me to leave!

More to come later. Wish I was still there
very good party

Posted by G`Dave on Dec-27-2006 18:11:

I thought the sound quality was rather good. Or perhaps it was just that it wasn't so ear bleedingly loud that after a while all I can hear is pain and distortion.

I thought it was good to have a back section there where the music wasn't as loud, gave the opportunity to actually have a conversation with people, without having to yell in their ear and use a complicated array of hand signals to get your misinterpreted message across and really if you wanted a dance, it wasn't too packed to find a nice space down the front. Granted it was a little under utilized, I've never been before the renovations, but the idea of some booths back there sounds good, but the lack of lighting on the steps almost caught me out, twice, buildings inspector might have something to say about those.

Lighting was good, but it seemed to me that all the action was happening up in the roof space, and the floor itself was left quite dark. Might have been what they were going for, but I'd have preferred some more light on the floor.

Spent a fair amount of time upstairs over the bar, just watching how that particular bar operates, and I tell you if I was manager (I'm a manager or another bar) some people would be put in training, or fired. Sloppiest operating I've seen in a bar, I don't know where to start abusing.

Turnout wasn't great, but what can you do, it was boxing day, not the greatest of nights to go out I'd have thought, I myself wasn't going to go until a spare ticket popped up at the last minute. But there were enough in attendance so that it didn't feel dead at least and a good crowd too, after this years two tribes, which would have had to have been my worst event being sandwiched in between a thousand drug fucked idiots I haven't been out to any medium to large events, but it the crowd was taking it easy and those that were on whatever (face it there's always some) weren't irresponsible and problematic.

Finally, what matters most, the music, I thought was very up and down. Patches of real quality followed by patches of rubbish. Was difficult to get into it for any longer than 10 minutes. Dave lee was doing a great job when I rocked up, good starting music. GTR is mainly where I'm getting this from, thought it was a bit all over the place. Joof was playing some great stuff, but by that time I wasn't in the mood for it and left about an hour in.

All in all, the venue has great potential, the lineup also had great potential, but it didn't come together in my mind which is a shame. Still, I look forward to seeing some photos that were taken.

no shit huh?

of course its no shed 14 but then again i wasn't expecting anything except heaps of good times completely unrelated to the music in any way, shape or form

well worth the $30 i paid for, and then some!

Yes the proof was that i i had a back cramp after it finished and i basically just sat down and watched sets for the rest of the night, i wish more prog house like that was played Dryspell was my find of 2006...

Where they kicking everyone out during jeremy K's set? because i realised with an artist tag i didn't get kicked out But then they opened for sammy and chable.

In retrospect the only thing that got to me was the music a bit, wasn't my thing i guess, GTR also now that i think about it, was very good, another you another me was wicked, made me dance and LOL at me and mortyman when he played playmo, took ages to ID it.

Although i wasnt paying attention to it all, i really liked strangis's set. lamb chopz remix of ABIC ftw And damn pap smurf and his channel fading started with jules trying to break the flanger and papa breaking the channel fader lol

ben did a good job as well. behind silence ftw.

bit of a shame with what happened upstairs, i was really looking forward to scotty and steves set
