Do you seriously think Jean Fred made too much money and thats the reason why aria is closing? wtf?
Secondly, the techno friday night stoped because Preach moved to Czech Republic to pursue his career.

The Afterhour scene shifted, more afterhours opened up, people grow up and less wanna stay out and party extended hours into the night.

As for the staff, i had no problems with them, but thats maybe because i wasn't on 10 es and 10 speeds and was actually able to communicate with them.

IMO Aria went after the wrong crowd after Circus was such a success. People grew up and migrated to Circus and Stereo but as for the ARia crow, Aria was no longer Aria when Eddy J came in and tried to use the "Circus formula" at Aria. To me Aria had always had the friendlier raver crowd where Circus was the St-Laurent crowd.

I will always remember Aria for it's crazy headliner Techno, Shranz, Trance parties. Montreal is losing another one of it's great afterhours.

gummipolarbear - you took the words right out of my mouth. You are exactly right. Aria should have stuck to what it was good instead of using this circus formula.

BTW when I said that the owner of Aria must have made enough money I was being sarcastic. I don't understand- If the owner actaully cared to keep the place running he would have put some effort into promoting the club over the last year. The website which is extremely important was completly abandoned for like a year. The closing party is only hearsay and is not even on the current Aria website. It would only take a second to put this up. They didn't even bother sending an email to people on the mailing list to inform them that it was open last night. Its just mind boggling. Clearly who ever owns this place does not care.

I think if they would have went back and catered to the Techno Trance raver crowd they could maybe have revived the club. It was just plain stupid to try and compete with Stereo and Circus.

Oh well, I've been in the scene for 10 years now I guess its time to pack it in now.

I remember the first time I saw and met Marcus in coat check of Aria. We had a chat about the afterhour scene, Aria and how he'd never been to any afterhour club except Aria... good times.

All info out on this night so far are NON-OFFICIAL. These are infos that leaked out from DJs, and people around Aria but there's no flyer, no price, no press release about Aria closing, no complete DJ line-up revealed as we speak.

If there's one thing I learned in all those clubbing years, is to wait for the official info from the real source. As for today, the complete info of the night is not out.

I would be one of the first to know. And I will let you know.

I'll have a 3 hour drive ahead of me if this happens

Alright - at this point, I've committed to being in Montreal for Saturday night and Sunday, so worst case there's no closing and I hit Circus. Either way it will be a fun night.

Here's hoping Aria does some advertising, gets a good lineup, and the night's everything we all remember it can be...
