How about you work on your english immigrant?

Its quite funny how ridiculously passionate you guys get over your trance. You remind me of soups back in the old days, but he's grown up now. So why don't you follow suit and realise that jumping around with glowsticks is rather childish, and cease sucking off a "mate" because he fiddled around with fruity loops long enough to produce something that a one Mr Van Buuren slotted in to a weekly radio show - full of other people who have done exactly the same.

I don't know this Nichol character, he's probably a decent bloke, unfortunate enough to have a pack of groupies so desperate to be under his wing. His track might even be decent, but that doesn't warrant the god status you think he deserves.

Are we on Trance Addict forum or Trance.Fan.com/8teens/allmusic.html??

Gumble, you're a kn0b. No doubt about it. Either you're super jealous, or you are a chin stroker of mass proportions. As a self admited chinstroket myself, I'm actually fkn pumped about a local breaking into the EU scene. As for Vman shortcutting his posts with fkn, and fgt...how do you assume he is an 'immigrant'??? Move to Syd you fucking racist piece of shit. Maybe you already are. God willing.

Who are you gumble?

Yeah exactly....

Besides, personally its not Mike's production that is the best thing since sliced bread. It has always been his technical ability to me.

Legend. Just booked him to play for me in New Zealand for the 5th time in August actually....

QFT. Nobodies bagging people who are actually doing what they love and being successful at it is rather... Stupid? Same as all the guys that sit there on forums and bash Sean Tyas. Heh.

You're bored aren't you Gumble?

Surely you don't actually think like that because you definately come across as a jaded knob jockey with the above comments!

You don't know Nichol but then again you don't know any of us either. To say we are a bunch of groupies is a rather unfounded silly comment from someone who no longer thinks trance is worthy of 'maturity' Everybody has there taste dude, you can't pay out on people for loving their tunes no matter what the fuck they're into. There's nothing wrong with being passionate about your music!

Yeah ok many others have done the same to get a tune on ASOT but not many from AUTA and considering that Mike is a really good friend of mine and others on here we, as his mates, we will not stop supporting him and congratulating his effort (that's what friends do!) If you don't care for us doing that then fuck off and stop reading this thread.

Fuck man, go get laid srsly!!

Deeman, thankyou for a decent and logical post there.

However, I do find trance to be childish. Its a gateway genre. The music is less than intelligent and a really confined genre. I think it's discovered by most people, and used as a footing to all the other great genres (electronic).

So yer, I loved trance for a while, and then moved on.. And I see those days as fun while they lasted, but then the novelty of it all wore off. So why can't I put into perspective the so-called achievments of others? I've done my time hanging out with DJs and getting fucked up at afterparties. Its all empty. But if thats your thing still, enjoy.

All I'm doing is restoring the balance on this forum. Basically because I feel like doing so. I have left TA a couple of times, but obviously not for good (not all TA is about trance). I think you'll just have to keep in mind that I will judge people on the music they listen to. And that may appear sad or jaded to you, but I don't give a fuck - thats how the scene surrounding my music is, and its how i get by.

I'm not angry either, I just choose to point out where people have taken it that one step too far. So I'll quite happily be termed jaded or angsty, or whatever else you've decided to label me. I'm happy being the way I am: and I'm not going to turn with my tail between my legs when a group of trance muppets get offended for me pointing out the obvious.

I appreciate what you've said Gumble, but wouldn't you say that continually involving yourself in a discussion about something you believe is 'childish' is equally as childish?

That's strange... Electro/Funky (MOS/Hed Kandi) House seems to be entry level dance music where ever I have been to. We must be living on different planets?

Name one succesful 'week in week out' Trance club in Australia/NZ for me?

Trance is one of the two most 'intelligent' dance genres as far as production values and level of complexity are concerned. Perhaps you are listening to the wrong type of Trance? However I doubt you have even explored Trance much in 2007, as you admit yourself, you have "moved on" from it. How does that make you educated enough to construct a solid arguement?

Heh. That goes to show that you never really had a connection/love for the music in the first place, nothing else really. I have been into Trance in its many forms for 12 years now.

Need prozac?

Sure TA is not all about trance; however the sites name is 'tranceaddict', is it not? Perhaps there is another site that might cater for your "intelligent" musical tastes a bit more, somewhere that isnt full of "Trance Muppets"?

"The Obvious" does not equal how things are at all, nowhere else other than your own ill informed mind.

Well in 98 or 99, whenever I started listening (totally a "noob" compared to you right?) trance is the club music everyone got into first, through Gatecrasher cds etc. Since most of the people on this board (au.ta) that signed up around same time as me followed that trend, I'd thought that statement would cover a majority of people. I wouldn't know any trance clubs now, nor really care. Ask Anomyst?

"Dance" music is hardly intelligent to begin with. But it does have its merits, and you can have an enjoyable time listening to it. Trance has no depth to it, thats why I think people move on. Theres only so many ways to have a "hands in the air" breakdown now isn't there?

Look at artists like: Fennesz, Murcof, Monolake, Biosphere, BOC, Tim Hecker.... Using the same electronic gear to make superbly produced music that is powerful and thoughtful.

I think I would qualify more educated than most here in terms of music, because Ive taken time to really explore a whole range of genres. I mean electronic music is only half my passion anyway. Im out every weekend pretty much checking out a local band or artist. So to label me not educated enough to form a solid argument, is pretty stupid.

Well, you are wrong. I used to love trance and progressive. I spent all my money on decks and records and went to every DJ I could. I used to jump up and down and defend against people who slagged either trance or prog. You being into trance for so long only provides me with an image of a very boring individual who is easily satisfied with whatever his DJ gods serve up, year after year.

I'm other forums as well, TA I'm on because Ive been on it for so long, and had some awesome times with a few of the members, so why not.

And Dean: No, I don't find it childish.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Apr-27-2007 06:08:

im really interested to know what qualifies as "intelligent" music, and even why "intelligent" music is considered superior? you could say that beethoven and bach and mozart wrote "intelligent" music, but does that mean it all sounds good? not on your fucking life.
