01. Ten Seconds Before Sunrise
So the guy wanted to start off his album the same way he did on 'Just Be' with 'Forever Today'. It had a 2 mins long orchestral piece just before the trance part of the track started. This time, Tiesto's album began with a chillout-like intro that puts you in the mood to listen to some hardcore-ass-kicking-trance. And I wasn't satisfied with what I heard afterwards. At around 1:30, the trancy part of the track starts. Hmm the build-up reminds me of 'A Tear in the Open'. I don't know if its just me but, I hear some double-beating, I hope this was done on purpose, but I really dont feel it... The rest of the track has a proggy-feel and doesn't have much to offer to be honest.
5/10
02. Everything (feat. Jes)
Hmm what can I say about this one. It sounds like an unfinished piece. The vocals by Jes are superb but the instrumental part of the track sounds the same from the start until 5:30-ish, which is almost the conclusion of the track. Anyways, I don't have much to say about it, I love Jes' voice but this definitively needs... a Solarstone Club Mix. It will sound alot like 'Like a Waterfall'.
7/10
03. Do You Feel me (feat. Julie Thompson)
First impressions. Housey vocals. And same feeling as 'Everything', the track doesn't sound as if it was completed. Weak beats too... Oh and there's this sound that appears at 2:30-ish, sounds UFO-ish, pretty cool actually. lol reminds me of X-Files. anyways random thought. Another great vocal track ruined by the instrumental part.
6/10
04. Carpe Noctrum
I'm starting to wonder why I'm writing a review for this album. Same comment as above; there's something missing, this song has no fucking soul. Reminds me of 'Traffic'. SANDER VAN DOORN HAS TO REMIX THIS AND TURN IT INTO A ASOT HIT. blah.
6/10
05. Driving to Heaven
I started liking this song after 2-3 listenings. It's different. I absolutely love the guitar-ish sound. It has Junkie XL's style in it. Very ear-friendly and easily listenable. I wish this song would last longer than 4:42 mins.
8/10
06. Sweet Things (feat. Charlotte Martin)
Another vocal trancer. This vocalist is new to me and I'm really liking her voice and what she is singing. EXCEPT at this point where she says "sweeeeeeet things"; I hate it when vocalists tend to do fake orgasm while singing, reminds me of what Kirsty Hawkshaw has been doing in 'Just Be'. Oh and I forgot Tiesto's part in the track. Hmm... catchy riff here. I like it even though it gets repetitive. I'm sure there's a single coming for this one.
7.5/10
07. Bright Morningstar
This track is a little more techy than the rest of the album. You can hear that BT had alot of influence on (or maybe even produced it) this track. You can hear the infamous 'slutter edit'. Anyways, good album song, but I wouldn't see it on the dancefloor or air on the radio. Unless there are remixes coming.
8/10
08. Break My Fall (feat. BT)
Got this one for awhile now. But the final cut sounds different from the one I had. Oh well. One of the only vocal-tracks that doesn't have a background beat that bores the shit outta me. BT voice is just beautiful, good to hear his real voice and not a too-distorted one like in 'Somnambulist' or on a too pitched tone like in 'Love Comes Again'. Speaking of LCA, it sounds pretty much like a part 2 to me. I hope there's a single for this one.
8/10
09. In the Dark (feat. Christian Burns)
Second (or third if you count the pirate track) single off this album. Very energic beat. It has been said many times already but I am going to say it again, sounds like an Indie or Alternative track remix, because of the vocals. But unlike most tranceheads out there, I don't mind that and even though it doesn't follow the whole definition of trance, this song is catchy and pleasant to listen to. It's a radio bait.
7/10
10. Dance4Life (feat. Maxi Jazz)
I don't even wanna bother reviewing this track.
2/10
11. Elements of Life
Title song, this is for sure going to be one of the future singles. The melody's got some potential but like every other songs of this album but its missing something. Needs a huge-ass Ron Van Den Beuken Remix to boost it up. After the breakdown, its too... omg.... Adagio for Strings-ish. And one more comment about it, nelsoncrj just reminded me,... that bassline sounds too much like Deepforces, that Hands Up producer.
6.5/10
12. He's a Pirate (Tiesto Remix) (by Klaus Badelt)
Okay yes, Tiesto remixing the PotC theme was a really bad idea. But I have a different opinion about it. Even though it's simple and cheesy for most tranceheads, I'm liking this tune, yes I said it, I like it.
8/10
To conclude. I repeated myself many times for each tracks, I'm aware of that. I mentionned many times older Tiesto tracks from the 'Just Be' CD. So I can say that this album sounds too much like Tiesto's 2nd artist album. Also, I think that Tiesto has to work a little more on his vocal productions; the lyrics are well written most of the time but there's always a lack of complexity when it comes to the instrumental part of the song. He has to consider it as much as the vocal part, music isn't only about vocals, it's about harmonizing every elements. I'm sure he knows that. In a way, as Tiesto announced himself, 'Elements of Life' has alot of styles mixed together. But in another way, every track sounds like others.
Overall I give 'Elements of Life' a disappointing 6/10.
I expected alot from this but I guess I shouldn't had.
Elements Of Life
Driving To Heaven
Ten Seconds Before Sunrise

I'm being asked to put down my views, probably because I am usually the one supporting or defending the guy around here. So...
What can i say really. I've had faith in this album for a while. The attitude and 'voices' coming out of the Black Hole made me really truly believe we would be into In My Memory territory, or at least, somewhere OTHER than Just Be country.
How wrong i could be. You won't see me wasting time defending this one on TA or other fora. Thats for sure.
The only saving grace on this album is that most of the filler tracks have some predecessor that i related to, and loved and enjoyed. If i find the same sounds in the next year of Tiesto gigs, then i will be semi-happy. Clearly Elements Of Life is not a derivative of "these are the 4 elements in the world etc" There is no rational explanation or placing within the new Concert thematic. However. With all the older elements in these tracks - it is clearly reference to how they took samples from his previous work and cobbled together this album.
Playing the actual 'original' tracks would please me. But thats not really possible. So these updates. Will suffice. I mean suffice - because just with PoA... these tracks won't be remembered with any fondness in 5 years time like the impact IMM had.
Conclusion: The best tracks of the album, we already have known about for 6 months. How that will affect the longevity or appeal of this album for the duration of the next 12 months EoL tour. is well, beyond my thought process.
I like the tracks. But i'm not overly excited by them either.
p.s Wild Bunch - Groove Lounge & Dibaba - Hold You FTW!
Overall a completely gash album. I liked Ten Seconds Before Sunrise the most, then Bright Morning Star, though the latter half annoyed me as it lost all the sway it had going into it, and I liked He's A Pirate. Though that too also rips off of Flight 643 and the synthwork seems to be a bit overdone during the climax. This album is very hollow sounding throughout. Carpe Noctum and Elements of Life are blatant rips offs of Traffic and Adagio For Strings (respectively) and the second one is a piss poor imitation. Elements of Life is easily the worst track on this, but all the others follow in at a close second.
2/10.
Maybe. Maybe.
Liking the album thus far
'Ten seconds Before Sunrise' is tune of the album for me
I like Elements Of Life, Everything and Do You Feel me a lot aswell! 8/10
where can u hear the album?
is it out to buy already?
I haven't heard it yet but I give it a 10!!!!
The only good tune is 10 seconds before Sunrise for me. Pirate's has already lived its sell by date. Pity Tiesto has a lot of scope to shut people up here and failed pretty miserably. It sounds like half an album with tunes with random sounds thats sound thrown together with bits and pieces of previous tunes. The remix and 12" packages will have to be extremely good to turn my head
So far Im on In The Dark... I'm liking this album, though a few weren't so impressive so far.
This song though (IN THE DARK), I dunno what about it, but it's really appealing to me, I can't tell why, but I like it a lot.
Dance4Life could've been a sick track if it wasn't for those awful vocals... wtf!
And I dunno how some morons could possibly compare Adagio For Strings (great fucking track) to a trashy one such as Elements of Life... I dont know what, but that track tries to be something big, the one that's most memorable, yet fails miserably.

Someone just upload the album already so we can ALL just bitch and moan.

gotta say not that bad of an album
i was expecting much worse.
This same thing happened with In My Memory and Just Be. Elements of Life has sounds for every taste. You can see that by just reading the reviews around here. At least a couple of tunes seem to be decent in every review. Each person has one or two satisfactory tunes, although nobody consider the whole album is great. Well that is something that never happens with an artist album, so the usual bashing is something we saw coming.
Elements of Life will be a success for Tiesto career because it is headed for different EDM markets. It has vocal songs like Sweet Things and In The Dark, which by the way is the right choice for his next single; we'll see it raped on MTV and every single radio station for the next few months. But it also has 100% trance tracks like Bright Morningstar and Ten Seconds before Sunrise, which can be heard at a club with no problem.
In my opinion, Driving to Heaven is the finest tune on the album. It reminds me of that magik feeling from the good old times, what a masterpiece. The only 9/10, lets just hope for a full release.
I understand why Pirates and D4L are included in the album, well not everybody is a tranceaddict who has already heard the tune.
What I don't understand is the fact that a great tune like Magikal Circus was left out.
Overall good job for what Tiesto has accomplished, this work will surely maintain him at the top 3 spot or even higher.
So for those of us that don't participate in p2p or bit torrent, etc., when do we see a U.S. release date so we can "officially review" the new material?
April 10 I believe.
zomgwtftrancebbq I can't wait that long!
lol.. this thread still alive?!

) and yesterday it was a bit like nah.... But today while listening the full album without skipping through the tracks i must say I really like this album. Its an album in a way an album has to be for me (besides D4L, carpe noctum). To listen to. When i'm listening an album at home i don't want banging hard tracks between the softer and more emotional tracks. What i'm hearing is a nice selection of some sort of chillout tracks. Ten seconds before sunrise reminds me to the old magik days, which a very good thing.
