Might as well start a thread..."Matching tracks from PvD's In Between with already existing tracks"

OMG! I'm listening comlicated and I'm thinking, I've heard this track before and I remembered I heard it last year when pvd came to new york and here is a video to prove it.

as for my full review I'll post it after I by my copy , I'm so happy I have good memory.

Posted by RebeL9 on Aug-12-2007 00:02:

I haven't heard it yet but I must say I find it funny that everyone is comparing it with EoL. which was a horrible album in every way. Why do you compare it with such filth? I mean if you want to express how good this is I dare you to compare it with some good trance albums :-)

This Album rocks! This is a new Sound of Paul van Dyk, and this makes "In Between" so greatful. It's not only the same sound like Tiesto or Armin van Buuren, always the same.

Shows at www.myspace.com/paulvandyk

On this page, you can hear all Tracks of his new Album.
Paul van Dyk is the Best in this Buissnes!

An even more boring sound?

Seriously, I'd rather sit through a Bold and the Beautiful marathon than having to expose my ears to this album again.

Perhaps you should enlighten us then..since you feel it's horrible maybe you should make something better.

What leads people to believe that this is a reasonable statement is beyond me.

There are good number of producers and DJs who already do, no reason to listen to this crap.

To each his own... I can care less what you people think.

Point being album is good.

First of all, it's obvious that you do care, plus you used the expression wrong.

moving this post here:

this includes a nice ripoff of the egg - walking away (tocadisco remix)

also a HUGE ripoff of 4 strings - into the night.

and some upbeat pop music for use on the ellen degeneres talk show

tired sounds from a tired producer and deejay

in between is not a bad track except the break ruins it
any emotional content in 'detournement' is removed by that trite guido kick

and what the hell is with his homoerotic venice photos

oh man i don't know why i dont enjoy this song since it has a guido kick. i live for the guido kick!

My immediate concern is this: Would have preferred to have most of the vocals in the vocal tracks removed. Sometimes they are too distracting, imo, and it seems that a few tracks rely to heavily on the vocals to carry the song (instead of the vocals being a supplement). Too abrasive.

I felt that by crutching on the vocals so much that it wasn't what I was looking for in a PvD album. I think it is a fun way to really branch out and perhaps interest people who are acquainted with other genres. But I felt the people who have been fans of Pauls for a long time were kind of left behind... It's not that I disliked the album, but I wasn't floored by any means. That is what I wanted. I wanted to be floored.

And who cares if he recycles samples, like hi-hats, and kicks, etc.. omg, that is the great stuff! It gives music style and definite edge, as long as it doesn't end up sounding the same as every other song. I like some of the elements that were recycled from "Love from Above". I really like some of the PvD sounds, it is kind of like BT's album where he recycled a lot of his synths. It makes for a great style that reminds me who made the music, and I like it tbh.

I also liked the opening track, Haunted, despite the vocals, I thought they did the track alright. It was good at creating a good atmosphere for the track, which is something I have missed in a lot. I would have added in some warm bass to make the track a bit cozier to listen to.

I also liked the last track. Some unique elements that were there, and thought this would be just fine w/o the vocals.

All in all I preferred the more simple tracks that reminded me of the simple dreamy stuff that PvD released a long time ago.

What makes me sick about so many of the TA's that post in the review forum, it is always all or nothing. Not like: "I like this part blablabla, but not this blablabla". It's always like: "this whole thing is crap". I get so numbed from reading these type inane comments, and upset that TA has degenerated into a place where so many have nothing positive to say, ever.

This is a perfect example. Here is a guy who has done so much for the EDM community, and it really is offensive that people so callously come in and just crap all over his album. There are some things I like about the album, and many things I don't, but it is rude to put so little thought into your review. It doesn't upset me that not everyone will like this album. Be a little courteous when you state your opinion for a change. Maybe put a little thought into why you formulated your opinion instead of a quip such as "it's crap". It would be great to get the fun dialog we used to have around here instead of the typical conversation which follows this pattern:

post 1: Oh, this album is awesome. I really like the third track.
post 2: wtf, this album blows. total crap.
post 3: */insert grammar correction* wow, you can't even spell, your opinion is obviously wrong.
post 4: if you don't like it, make something better.
post 5: tiesto sucks.

I AM SO TIRED OF THIS. GO AWAY. GTFO and go to www.mercuryserver.com

I thought the same exact thing when I head those.

lol do you search for "guido" regularly here? you always seem to find my guido related posts.

on that note maybe i have something to learn from this album for 'guido ep'

Posted by spc on Aug-13-2007 22:22:

not really.. i already wrote a quick review of pvd's album before and was just checking up on recent posts... its really just a coincidence i run into the same threads where you talk about guidos, but you may have given me the idea to do daily searches of "guido" on TA now

Posted by Omega_Blue on Aug-13-2007 22:39:

listened to it on myspace. i didn't really like any of it, at all. i don't really listen to trance anymore, but i've always been a fan of PvD, i enjoyed bits of "reflections." this album just seems.. uninspired. it's hard for me to listen through the entire tracklist, not because it's trance, but because it's just plain boring. "another sunday" wasn't terrible. "la dolce vita" is listenable also. dude who sang "talk in grey" is talentless.

I see lots of great discussion on lots of music all day here on TA. It's funny that it's usually only these threads which turn ugly. For one thing, I can't understand why people take negative opinions so deeply to heart? Do people need strictly positive reinforcement to remind them that what they like is good? I like songs that people think are crap, and I like DJs who play sets many think are boring. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. The insecurety that reeks from these threads is ridiculous.

Every time someone posts a negative opinion, we see the same ridiculous arguments come back "You're just jealous", "make something better", "you probably never went to a club ever and u just sit at home being a hater asscunt". It gets really old. As if everyone has to be overtly positive about every release, and never post anything even remotely critical for fear that it might make someone else feel bad. Yes I agree just saying "it's crap" is a bit abrasive, but the same can be said about every childish two bit reply to those posts.

As for this comment:

I disagree. No artists will ever get blind support from me, I don't care who the fuck they are. Sasha could start playing happy hardcore and eurodance tomorrow and you can bet I'd come with heavy critisism. The people who are probably most enraged by an artist releasing a sub-par album are usually people who have been following them for a long time, I'd bet longer than you have, and I think they have every right to voice their disgust.
