Up til the very last moment I didn't know whether I was going to this or to Footwork. Finally decided that I was in a good mood and could brave the Guv's crowd. No easy decision either after the madness that was Sasha/Halloween.

Got there shortly before midnight and it was still filling up. Caught the very end of Mark Oliver's set and then Deadmau5 was on. Very unexpected start - almost tribally-tech - which I quite liked. In fact, I was expecting his set to be pure electro and it wasn't, there was a lot of bassy tracks. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Wished he had brought his mouse head with him.

Zabiela was so much fun, it's been too long since last I saw him. Mostly glitchy stuff but a fair range of proggy, techy, minimal tracks too. Seamless mixing of tracks and genres. And of course, he's a very happy dj, always smiling and even jumping around during the big tracks. He ended just after 5 and I left shortly after (why people stayed to dance to a recorded cd is beyond me).

Overall, I have to say it was a surprisingly good night - though it filled up there was always room to dance at the front, the crowd was very good and the music was top notch.

Does anyone know the track that Deadmau5 played where it's like a hospital like beep in the background and the song's bass is somewhat like a heartbeat?
