All DJs became so famous exactly with broadcasting a lots of their sets, so people can download them and give to his friends e.t.c. Maybe it's rediculous in Germany, when every weekend you can catch some star DJ in your city. But in Ukraine people know DJs just from internet exactly by broadcasted sets. I had near 30 Tomcraft sets before i saw him life in our city. I listened his sets, i liked them, so when i found out that he plays here, i knew, i would be there. I can find out if i like that DJ or no only with sets, not from their productions. Noone knew NU NRG, PvD played their Dreamland and i liked it so much, but it's only one track. But when here was posted their Orgasmatron set, it was a BOMB! Almost all people think it's a classic trance set of all times. It was so awesome sound with so many great tracks, that i even couldn't imagine when downloading it. After those 2 Orgasmatron sets NU NRG started to rise up with speed of sound. I still never saw them live, but they were top trancers for me and all my friends. And again exactly with their recorded sets. They could produce best tracks in the world, but if noone herd it, then they wan't get any penny for their great job. Without good managment, good music is nothing, because just noone can heard it. In club near 500-1000people can listen, but recorded set can be downloaded in 10 times more + downloader can give it to their friends. I have master degree on managment, so i definitely much more understand in it than PvD + his manager summary. I started to disrespect his a few years ago, when Armin replaced him in Djmag, and right after that PvD in some interview told, that those rating are stupid. What a f*ucker, when he was on 1st place he put that number on every posted and jingle in vonyc sessions (even year after it it was in vonyc sessions ), but when Armin number 1, those rating became stupid. Not ratings are stupid, PvD is stupid. What a shame when he can't loose like a man. Even Tiesto just left 1st place without any words. PvD even don't know what to do to get1st place back, he added keyboard to his ableton, but it sounds even worse than was before. Armin for the third time number 1, no doubt and then i wan't some new number 1. If i'm not mistaken, still noone after loosing 1st place get back on it.

You are missing the point, i don't give a damn fuck about how stupid or how hypocrite he can be, what is ridiculous is that you are predicting his end because he forbidden the broadcast for ONE set And do you think that such superstar DJ are managed by a buch of gigolos ? You think that the team behind him or the like of him are missing the management's basics ?

his wife natasha is managing him but she has no influence on his music or broadcasts. I hate all these specs. and we do all know that djash is a pessimist - if someone wants to cry, then do it at home - this is a forum just for the TLs. in every thread regarding PvD such discussions

so lets help finding some recordings or videos for reconstructing a better TL.

ONE, which awaited by so many people, besides, all those tracks were broadcasted a month ago on Ultra Music Festival, very strange decision. And i predicted not his end, but he looses popularity because his style changed into all-in-one-bottom, just a mess of all styles, so people, who loved his trance bangin sets now do not want to listen it => popularity falls down. But to forbid broadcast also influence on popularity. No broadcasted sets, popularity goes down. This will never rise popularity, if he thinks that if he forbid to broadcast, people will be more interestet what he played so excluisive, that even didn't permit to broadcast.

PvD update

the atmosphere was awesome. not really something new what he had played but the transitions were awesome.
If you can hear him live it's always better than any broadcasts.
The order couldn't be right after track 9 but the clusters of tracks.

Re: PvD update

I have 12-15 minutes of video during PvD's Mayday set that I will post when I get home, maybe it will help clear up the order of the clusters. You're spot on with the samples though, heard them as well, wondered why they weren't in the tracklist, but they were only a few seconds here and there.

I'll get as much video as I can tonight at VANDIT Night... I am disappointed though, flew all the way here from Seattle, and PvD is only playing 3 hours at Vandit Night tonight. Not the old days anymore I guess.

thats true

i understand Paul...

People just go crazy about huge names like PvD, Tiesto, Armin... If exactly the same set (PvD Mayday) would play some onknown DJ like Van Den Shmurgel, then everybody just stand and asking to get the fuck out there that DJ, but if PvD play Klubbingman's set, everybody would dancing, screaming and go crazy, because it's PvD highest ranked German DJ. That's my explanation. Nowadays EDM goes such commercial, that noone needs good music, people need just big names. That's why David Guetta, Fedde Le Grand e.t.c. was invited on every Sensation. They produced a few nig hits in pop charts and it ensure bookings for the next 3 years on biggest events and millions of fans. They do not vote for their DJ skills, just because of those few produced tracks.

Posted by Dream DJ on May-02-2009 19:07:

Yes, commerce, glamour and branding attacked ALL Electronic Music. In 90's main orientations of trance were exclusive melody, extraordinary samples, mixing trance with techno, house etc.
Today all trance producers are making trance with similar samples and melodies. Main thing - NAME. OOOO PvD, OOO Armin, OOOO Sander van Doorn. Music became narcotic for biorobots not for human like in 1998-2004. And it's terrible!

i disagree with this
PvD got his crowd playing the same music style over 10 years, that's why people is loving him, i am always sure i hear great music when PvD comes.

He played trance sets, check 2002-2003 years especially. For me best set Energy 2003. Not now with all styles in one and slow what the fuck (old shitty track) with fast trance tracks. Now his sets suck and fans who liked his style for trance music now forget about him at all.
