(Please disregard this if German language courses are requisites for your major of choice.)

I am taking it to keep my sanity. A way to have an outlet. Also, it is an easy 4 units to get full course load and maximum grants.

Why would an engineer take german then. Just for fun? I can understand that, but it is sort of a lot of money and time.

At 3 courses a semester, it's gonna take you 6 years to get that degree. May as well take a German course or two for sanity's sake.

I am very aware. I have already considered all this.

As I noted above, it is an easy 4 units/credits to get full financial aid.

I did that too, and I wish I hadn't.

i would imagine that learning ANY foreign language accompanied by a degree of any kind would expland one's horizons and open more doors upon graduation than had he not learned a 2nd language. lol i mean hello...job opportunities in germany? yes please

That is a nice assumption however I still feel it is a waste of time and money to pay for something you can pick up for cheaper faster elsewhere. And I do know a lot of people living/working in Germany. Guess what? They can't speak German.

While this is true (only just above 99.7 percent of humans if you want to split hairs) she should definitely pay heed.

i bet he's taking it because he thinks chicks that speak German are hot.

Posted by Slylee on Jun-08-2009 21:33:

i'm pretty sure my IQ level is average. i never paraded around here trying to act like it was more than that. i save that for when i need it. like in work, every day life, etc... not an internet forum.

and stop trying so hard to pick on me. it should be natural...like me walking right into something. you're trying to make things work and they just make you look desperate

Sorry but you're talking to someone whose ultimate goal it is to live in Germany, so excuse me if you're view on immigration seems completely childish to me. But then again you have the capacity of a dimwitted 8 year old so...

German is "goofy?" It always sounded very serious and somber to me.

I think Finnish sounds weird as hell (no offense to my Finn friends, you know I love you and your country).

Point being? I have a friend in Japan and he knows no Japanese. Does that make it any more or less important?

While I do find German girls hot, that is not the reason.

Most Germans speak English anyway. Especially those who are working in/with international organizations.
