so if I went earlier, the quality of the opening djs would have been better? . Either way I hope The Thrillseekers come back, I really loved his set .. just not a fan of bad openers

i wish Ronski Speed was coming sooner, he is one of my favorite djs!

what are the chances that avb, markus schulz, ferry corsten, cosmic gate, kyau & albert, and sander van doorn will play at circus?

No - check my earlier posts - I don't think they were great at all (they weren't that bad though either) but at least you wouldn't have paid nearly double what I did, that's all.

How much do you think is a fair price for entry this past Saturday night?

Cool

oh well, if there's one thing I'm learning from reading the "after the party reviews" of this thread, its that you can't please everyone, even when it was a great fn trance night!

im sorry for those who don't like Norin & Rad. They kind of remind me of Kristina Sky when she first started. a lot of love & hate reviews.

one thing I'm curious about from those who hated Norin and Rad's set is, what exactly did they do wrong? was it the track selection? mixing? I don't get it, there has to be a legitimate reason. (I would hope...)

And to Dave T : Yeah dude, of course locals should hype and support their up and coming favorite local djs! I mean, doing otherwise would be stupid. Any community who doesnt do that would find themselves w/ out local djs. They would all simply gtf out of that city or area! I know I would!

But yeah, to loop it all back, the biggest truth out there in club/music land is that you can't please everyone all the time. !

Posted by DaveT on Aug-24-2009 04:49:

As long as people keep feeding these locals false-positive feedback, then where's the challenge for the DJ to improve himself. I know DJs who can't mix worth a damn (like myself!!) who think they can mix with the best of them (which I, nor them, can!) when they are farrrrrrrr from it.

It does those DJs no good if no one sits there and tells them issues they have with their mixing, programming, etc.

IMO, I had a good time....although I was sooooo immensely sick that night...and still currently am. I still felt the vibe was good and all. For me it's always fun at Circus both as an attendee or performer. =D

also...I will have to agree with DaveT. ALthough hearing compliments about mixes and stuff are great. But there will never be any thought of improvement if one doesn't realize it. Although I'm always hard on myself. But criticism is always good...as long as they include "why"?

I was just about to say that and I'll say it anyway... YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE and there will always be someone not happy about something or other. Oh well, I still had lots of fun.

I liked all the DJs in the main room and was even surprised by the DJ before Norin & Rad. I like walking in a club and feeling the music grab me and make me dance. As for N&R, I think this is my 4th time seeing them and I've enjoyed all their sets. I like their energy.

The sound was way better last night than it's been in awhile. I was up in the front, in the back, the side, in the middle, hellz I was every where and the sound was pretty good.

My night was very much enjoyed, saw & talked to lots of peeps I hadn't seen it a while, met new peeps (hi Sergio, apeattack, and ??? hee hee hee) missed Rann, danced a bit and got a wee bit too tipsy, no quesadilla this time. I had a great time!

Now I hope to see some of you folks next Saturday. I along with M3 Productions will be hosting the back room.

Bring your dancing shoes!

the glowsticking, glowstringing, orbiting, gloving, and all other forms of light show was the best part of the event I can't see that at Ruby Skye

Re: VIDEOS FASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLET

[i][b]"The proof is in the pudding?" sorry for the short vids

I give thanks to you and in2muzikk for posting the Circus videos on YouTube. Short vids are better than none and now I'm thinking I've been going to Circus for ten years and should vid it more often - It's the last great big dance venue in Hollywood.

As for the music - I loved it. As usual, I was dancing like a retarded crazed weasel in heat, all over the place.

I would also like to give thanks to Loc for showing myself and Don the great job he did with the new lighting behind the main DJ booth. He said he worked all week on it and I think it's great. Although I always wear a visor due to eye-sensitivity to light, I think it was a beautiful sight for sore eyes. Your videos and Don's have already received several dozen hits on YouTube, and as of tonight I'm the first and only to give them a 5-star rating. Just one little click to show a little love and yet I guess that's too much for some people. Speaking of "Little Love" my new song is on ilike.com and my MySpace music page - www.MySpace.com/ChrisAable - the dance remix is coming out next month (shameless plug) .

Here's one of the comment I left on Youtube about last weekend:

Great video. As usual Circus was lots of fun and it was great being there. Half the reason I go is for all the nice regulars and staff - Michael, Charles, Malia, Trinity, Bob, Tom, Cole, Mario, Terry, Sunshine, Tony, Ernesto, Justin, Josh, Mitchell, Craig, Gil, Sarah, Cindy and countless others.
Five Stars.
Peace,
Chris Aable .....where's my visor?

I had a fantastic time at circus. The place was packed, we had a ton of the old spundae regulars out for support, the new lights were pretty sick too. See everybody soon!

Posted by technofriik on Aug-24-2009 18:02:

Wish I had heard more of the music on Saturday but 98% of my night went to talking to people. I couldn't believe how many old and not so old friends showed up! Myself not going out that much anymore nowadays doesn't help either so there was a lot of catching up to do. I didn't even have time to go get my quesadilla fix which was a big bummer.

I did catch only some parts of Steve Helstrip's set and absolutely loved it towards the end when he was banging it out! Also caught the end of Bob's set and he had me dancing like a crazy person. TG there weren't many people to witness it

Based on Don's pics, I'm glad to see I wasn't the only victim of Steve Helstrip's crazy antics (he gave me a face lick) At least I'm used to it since I've known him for a while and he always makes sure to do something ridiculous to me

Alpha.wav, nice "meeting" you on Sat. I didn't realize I've known you all along! I'm looking forward to getting those pics And Chris A., I didn't know you were on TA too! Or did I just forget...?

What a great night! I had a camera with me and managed to take a whopping ZERO pics...was too busy socializing and having fun!

P.S. Malia, thank you for introducing the other Finn at the club!

Slim to none. At least AvB, Markus, Ferry, CG and Sander are pretty much Giant's "property" Lots of politics in the LA EDM scene...

I wouldn't be too sure about that...In the last 5 years, I saw Tiesto at the Mayan, Circus, Avalon and Vanguard, Digweed at the Mayan, Avalon and Vanguard, and Armin at Circus and Vanguard.

The only thing truly constant is change...

Mayan are one off events. That doesn't count. Tiesto has NOT played at Circus in the last five years. Prob 8+ years, if not more. And he played at Avalon when Giant was with Avaland. Now they are over at Vanguard...and whala, Tiesto has played at Vanguard.

And Digweed was with Liquified for the longest time out here. Him and Sasha were very dedicated to them since I believe they know the guy who started it. Something like that, I forget. I remember it being a big deal when Digweed played at Vanguard and all that because Liquified was over with Avaland.

Armin played for Spundae in LA when they were at Circus. Spundae went to be a part of Avaland as Avaland pretty much stopped booking trance acts, so Armin (and other trance acts) started playing at Giant. This was all around the time when DJs personally started telling me that they wanted to play at places other than Circus as they didn't see the venue really progress over time. I heard it from a few and then suddenly about four months later the word was Spundae will pulling out of Circus again. But I dunno if there's any connection between all that.

*post is made of my own accord. my personal thoughts. simply put!*

Posted by nguyentony75 on Aug-25-2009 00:59:

yes alot of djs haven't been in circus since Spundae and Giant. We are changing it slowly.. We are currently having new Djs that have not spun in Avalon and Vangaurd. So Circus does get different talent as well. And how many times can you do Carl, Knight in a year I swear it been more than 4 times this year. But hey what ever works right...lol

I usually only chime in when Don or someone emails me and brings something to my attention. I'm going to start making short videos at Circus also. As Hollywood gets more dense, the big and great venues will become a distant part of faded history. I saw the same thing happen in New York City last decade. After graduating college, I lived in Manhattan near Times Square. I met Johnny Depp at the Limelight - he was very nice - at least that particular night. They had a club called the Roxy and it actually featured roller skating in the daytime and ...they served alcohol to skaters !!! Talk about drunk driving - I love skating, but after some of those people had a few drinks it was like roller derby.
