That's the creative challenge behind the game. It's obviously impossible to fit everything in, and once you realise that you can stop worrying about it and just have fun with it. I've really enjoyed seeing the different approaches people have taken, and what's pleased me the most is that almost nobody has done what I would have predicted.

Oh yeah absolutely. I had a lot of fun making this mix.

Sorry I didn't provide that alternate link guys, I've had a few things to attend to in real life.

well, yeah bas, good tunes, just yunno mixing and structure was a bit wonky. sometimes cutting is better than trying to mix something unmixable,,, but we already had this discussion on msn.

Pretty much agree with this. Great music but fade-ins or fader slams would have been better than the beatmatching.

As for the mixing, what I wanted to do was the sort of slam mixing where you throw a delay on the track going out and it stops real short...but I couldn't figure out how to get that to come out right. I think I needed an efx unit on a separate channel, and not Traktor's internal.

By the way Bas, I'm not a Liverpool fan but I am living in Liverpool for the next month.

Ion - Message From Dreamland
Always been captivated by atmospheric openings in mixes. This one is a particularly good example of how to set the scene.

Serafim Tsotsonis - Bicycles On Hudson
The way this track melts into a guitar break just took my breath away on its first listen.

Dale Anderson & Anil Chawla - Leftorium w/vocals from "The Village"
A perfect mellow track that compliments any mix. Dale Anderson and Anil Chawla won't ever better this effort. Mixed in a few wistful lines from "The Village" to enhance the overall mood.

Espen & Elusive - Pubic Bear
Elusive in particular has been criminally overlooked for his production skills (as his artist album testifies) and has created a number of exquisitely crafted melodic tracks. So close between this and "Internet Hugs" that I had to flip a coin.

British Sea Power - North Hanging Rock w/IQ - Intro
Wonderful folk-like rhythms and whimsical lyrics from the progressive British band.

The Cranberries - Everything I Said
The Cranberries are right up there with my favourite bands, the voice of Dolores O'Riordan in particular always has the power to move. Hugely soporific, I feel asleep dreaming to this track countless times growing up.

Mogwai - Hunted By A Freak (live version)
Live version of this beautifully dark take on progressive rock/indie. Don't slit your wrists.

Moscow Olympics - Second Trace w/M83 - Car Chase Terror!
Shoegaze is fast becoming my favourite "second-genre" and this is the track that kick-started the interest. Floating melodies against a backdrop of a pulsating nostalgic analogue rhythms.

The Spinto Band - Oh Mandy
Glorious mandolin-led indie-pop that infected my consciousness on a loop since the first listen.

Aerosol - Airborne
A nod towards the wonderful work of luminaries such as Ulrich Schnauss and Brian Eno in its cavernous ambience. Fits like a glove preceeding Pale Shelter.

Tears For Fears - Pale Shelter (long version)
I love the 80s. There was still intelligent pop music being made by intelligent people. Plus the films were over-the-top beasts.

Aspekt - Mobetta
Bittersweet track for me as this signified my tastes taking a more progressive slant at the time. Unfortunately Anjunabeats and the like dropped the varied stuff in favour of the uplifting formula soon after and things were never quite the same...

Private Taste - First
Heard this first on Guy Ornadel's progressive trance Slinky CD and it left me gobsmacked and dis-orientated by the sheer transcendental feeling, like hurtling through the cosmos. This is trance(Sparta)!

Massimo Cominotto - Iron Butterfly (cominhouse mix)
B-side to a BXR release, it didn't look promising initially as far as my music tastes went but I was way of the mark. Hugely original, the sonorous nature of the break still gets me after all these years and all the countless listens.

Chiller Twist - Stringz Ultd (shelley mix)
The one. The one track which evoked the strongest feeling I have ever had from music. The epic strings, the warm chants and the plaintive bells. A perfect meld.

skiggity. I need to catch up with this. So many mixes I've missed.

This is a really beautiful mix that draws together shoegazey electronic, indie rock and melodic progressive effortlessly. I really get a sense of what you like musically, and this is an excellent entry to the game all-round.

I know I'm perhaps not very well-known across the forums as a whole and to be honest that is my fault for staying in the DJ promotion almost exclusively. I do peruse all the other sub-forums but it all seems quite similar and fiercely-opinionated so I tend to just enjoy and read...maybe its time to get more involved, build up the profile

PS. I'm slowly listening through to the other mixes in this series and will comment back when I can make an informed opinion.

Jupiterone's mix I have listened to a number of times however as it is the first one put up. What can I say, in terms of distinctive, concurrent atmosphere its absolutely first class throughout. Particular highlight was Massive Attack-Three...beautiful.

Sweet, a new one. Downloading now.
