No security out there made for a potentially VERY dangerous situation.. damn I'm getting old I guess lol.. VIP only from now on.

Hernan killed it, and Sasha played via 2005.. I loved it! much higher energy for this event..
can anyone ID the song that sounds like it says
" this is just a flesh wooouund, this is just a (beeeeeee).. " something like that. .Heard Mark Knight play it a few weeks ago too. Fucking huge.

*edit - found my video from Mark Knight

Enjoyed some Lawler at the end and got to meet him at an afterparty. Spacebyrdz rocked that house until we left back to SD around 8.

Sorry I missed all the TA's and meetups.. the cattle herding bullshit was a major bummer and music was the only thing that mattered after that.

the tune is Calvin Harris - Flashback ERIC PRYDZ REMIX
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBWPMjU0m3w

and lol flash back - flesh wound

I loved this years MM. Thought the setup was great. Main stage was massive. Sounded good from front to back. They placed speakers in VIP so it sounded good back there too. Was glad to be outside. Plenty of great music to be found. Walked right in with no problems with lines. Guess it turned into a cluster fuck right after we got in because some of the people on our party bus had to be just minutes behind us and it took them 1.5 hours to get in About the only thing I didn't like was the fact that it ended at 3am, not 4am like the flyer said. I don't care what they say, it was officially 3am when it ended. And we never made it into the arena because the line to get in was a joke.

Not sure but I think the bus was $750 for 30 people or $25 each. And it was sooooooo worth it!

Heard 3 tracks Armin played... CHEEESE! oh man, those garbage 90's vocals and cliche synths are so funny to me!

Hernan making the speakers dump on everyone was the sickness

I had a blast and an open bar = win! Highlight was when Pete Tong was playing Flashback since I still can't get the track off my mind and also talking to Zabiela for a good while during Tong's set.

oo that is good.. i paid $30 per head for a F650 limo in vegas, but it included a drink and free access to sapphire with my friends deal.. i think a party bus is gonna be in order for next massive which will probably be EDC.

i thought the sound was way better in the crowd but still was happy with how VIP turn'd out.

we walked in to Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone

but i guess i'm being a snob but i thought it was kind of funny to see kids tag up walls on the inside arena. Was like some of you don't really belong here but it's LA what can you expect?

I probably saw you, then. Were you the guy with dark, longish hair and grey shirt?

Posted by djjoshuaallen on Nov-03-2009 21:53:

about the only good thing about this party was the VIP line to get in and the line for free booze and bathrooms in VIP.

But you couldnt even hear the music or see anything while in VIP which made it pretty boring to hang out in there.

Hernan and Sasha played great, and Lawler had some great moments

but god damn that party was so unorganized and messy. You would think they would have it down after throwing the same party there 10 years in a row. I was never even able to find my way into the sports arena once. There was absolutely no place to just hang out and sit and listen to music. That was definatly the last go venture massive I will attend. We should have taken that party bus to avalon!!!

Negative, I had a white hoodie with a black shirt. I was with two friends, one a short Asian girl and the other, a dude dressed as Scooby-doo.

Zabiela was killer, Lawler was deep and dirty, and Sasha played the spoookiest set I've ever heard.

Entrance SUCKED but what can you do??? I hope they figure something out for next time.

Wasn't going to wait in line to get on the main floor in the arena and waste my night standing there... Sucked they kept closing off the arena, I missed half the sets I really wanted to see.

Flames at the Tomb of Doom = O.M.G. Set up there was MASSIVE. Incredible... Good sound and just soooo big!

If that's the case, I apologize.

My whole reason for that, was that you were assuming, without even knowing any of the facts. Neither do I, but you have to give them the benefit of the doubt until you ascertain otherwise.

Oh, I didn't see you on the stage. I asked if you were that one guy I described since he was by James pretty much all night.

Cool you got to talk to him though, I only got to talk to him for a few moments, I was too nervous to really say anything.

I guess we got there just at the right time. Our Bus dropped us off at 8ish. We where able to walk right in pretty much. Some people in our group who also had VIP had to wait over an our since people in GA stared a riot, moved the gates and jumped over the fences!

If they where expecting the largest crowd ever there should have been more then one way to get in!!!

The Vip area's where much bigger them last year. That was nice. I never had to wait in a long line to get a drink. The bathroom situation was pretty bad. Just 1 trailer and the Lawler stage had out houses! By the time Lawler started they where all over full. When we where walking around I did not see any bath rooms out side

I could see why they had Tomb of Doom outside. It felt like there was 100,000 people at this years event! I did miss that arena feeling though when you can look around and see the place packed and going off. The arena added extra energy to the night.

I heard horror stories of people trying to get in to the arena this year. We tired but we ended up at the exit and where told to go around. When we did there was a line to get in!! (really???) so we aborted our mission.

As for the music. Did not like Egil's set that much. For me his track selection didn't really have any flow.
JOC's set was Meh.. Due to the other events we have gone to we have seen him 4 times in 2 months. So we opted to walk around and check the other area's out.
Don't really remember much of Hernan's set or Sasha's either. (opps)

When Sasha was about to end it started to get way to crowed. Every one was pushing each way and it was hard to see. I need my space now at these huge events. So we went back to VIP to enjoy Armin's set.

Armin's set was the one I was there for and he did not disappoint at all. I loved it! However we got robbed of our hour!!!! If the event was going to end at 3 when the clocks moved back they should have advertised that it was going to end at 3

Thank god we had the bus taking us back so we did not have to deal with the parking on the way out.

Over all I had a great time at Monster. Then again I always do. I just hope they fix the kinks for next year.

From almost every single report I have read from the large parties this year, it seems people had the most fun at the smaller venues this year. Some of my other close friends did a Burning Man-style party in the Hollywood Hills. I had a blast at House of Blues in Anaheim. I had a great set and made some new friends The bathroom line was non-existent... free drinks all night... no entrance fee... they pay me!!! Wow... what a deal!!!

Awesome costumes, Michelle! You guys rocked it! Did you make them or special order?

Posted by sweetcandy girl on Nov-04-2009 14:59:

I wish I could make something like that!!! I got everything on line threw various sites. When it comes to dressing up I tend to go all out

Posted by DaveT on Nov-04-2009 15:33:

I have never seen a major event that occured on the night time went back get an extra hour because of it.

Permits, the hired cops, the union workers, etc don't usually account for time-change.

MM used to happened on the night time changed all the time before 2007, when it was the last sunday in october you changed it on. (as MM usually occurs on the last Saturday...though it's happened on Friday before, too...ala 2003), and I don't recall it ever going on an extra hour.

Guess Armin kinda gave a false-confidence about it when he made his twitter post saying he'd get to do 3 hours because of the time-change, but I've personally never seen it.

Posted by GPC on Nov-04-2009 17:08:

I have never been to a massive on a DST time change but have been to clubs and they always went the extra hour and served alcohol an extra hour. Are they so clueless they didn't realize the date MM was on was the end of DST? If they said it ended at 3am on the flyer, I wouldn't be bitching. But when you pay $300 for 2 tickets, I expect it to go until the time stated. Could have easily been prepared for. I guess it just proves how unorganized they were.

What time did Vanguard go to?

Vanguard didn't go the "extra hour" either but they let Sander play 20 extra minutes which was really cool. I've been to clubs and events before when the time is changed and they've never gone the extra hour or served alcohol longer.
