I know when i have to do an 8 hour lighting show it takes a lot of physical and mental prep to do it. Standing in one spot the whole time and constantly thinking about your next move. I cant imagine what its like for a dj! |
I have no idea what Mark Oliver played...but I'm assuming he didn't play trance b/c he wanted to appeal to the people who came to see Sasha, most of which likely did not want to hear trance.

Excuse you???
Would you prefer putz???
Ok then putz...
I'd put MO over Sasha anyday...
I'd put about 50 acts above that crackhead...
I'd rather listen to fucking Infected Mushroom over Sasha. And I can't stand them...
And btw...
Mark has missed less Saturdays than I have fingers to count them on in the last decade...
And not one was due to "illness" that I know of...
putz...

I'm not gonna stop listening to Sasha because he has a drug issue and missed some gigs. Whatever man. Life goes on.
Your like 1 of 5 guy followers who will defend MO to the death. Your biased, that's fine.
Your opinion is no longer needed. Move along.

I don't care if this guy has H1N1...he should be spinning wearing a jacket, with a bucket next time while ppl go buck. Okay..maybe that's too extreme but if skips out on some other tour dates then it COULD be LEGIT, but I think he has something against T.O.
I'm gonna try finding that old conspiracy theory thread I brought up when he first cancelled for S&D....
I KNEW IT WASN`T BERKOWITZ!! |
I get being mad and upset that he was not there... but you sound just as ridiculous as you did the last time this happened.
Based on previous posts Sasha made it to Toronto and then was unable to perform.
Sh*t happens and we deal with it.

In Toronto, sure, I'll go with that. But world wide Sasha has 1000000x more supporters. There really is no comparison.

Mark could have easily taken the life of a travelling DJ if he wanted to...instead he decided family was more important. You would be hard pressed to find an international DJ who has played with Mark who wouldn't say he is a world class DJ

Right so the 200 or so staff that work at Guv keep a dj employed as the 13 year resident of the number 1 club in N America???

guilty...
and its because ive spent probably 1000 saturdays there. And ive seen the best come and go. Alot of them live up to or exceed their fame but a lot of them are complete over hype. And Mark has usually been as good or better than any of the headliners coming and going from the club. The difference is you dont get the flashy ballwashy hype as you do from the slick media PR campaigns that the headliners deliver.
Its easier for a headliner to come in, play the hits for 3 hours and leave than to sustain a crowd with a huge variety of tastes for 8 hours in a room with 2000 people. Ive seen many try, and most fail at this.
Perhaps those who work at the club are fans of oliver because they see this too..
Everyone has their opinion about music. But there is no doubt that mark oliver is a brilliant dj whether you like his music or not. As are a lot of the headliners that come and go.

I don't believe he was in Toronto. I heard from a very good source who spoke to Charles himself, that he missed his flight. A private jet was sent out, and then Sasha exclaimed he was sick and couldn't make it.
If he really was in Toronto.. then that makes me even more upset!

He satisfies the z103 crowd. That's all regular spin Saturdays are now, I don't know anyone who hits guv regularly to hear Mark, except maybe 5 people, like I said.

That's all mark does is drop what I would call mainstream house toones. Maybe throw in a classic trance toone.
Sasha's technical talent and artistic ear cannot be matched.

LOL!!!
I can assure you that mark plays everything from hits to more obscure records. As one could attest from last Saturday night. You have to mix it up over 8 hours, there is no doubt.
Just because you dont know anyone who goes to guv regularly doesnt mean no one does! I dont know anyone who goes to embassy but apparently they are rammed every week!! BTW if neither yourself or others that you know go to hear mark, how do u know what he plays every week?
Also, The Z 103 crowd AFIK tends to go to Century, Embassy and Nava LOL
.
To each their own... some people prefer some djs and others prefer others.
Ive seen people going nuts to a dj that ive rolled my eyes to and vice versa too im sure... Whatever!!

exactly!
everyone will have their opinions about each and every dj.
katie just seems to have a personal grudge against mark which makes her unable to accept the fact that some people will like mark over certain headliners.
this argument is going nowhere. lets drop it and move on.
opinions are like farts. everyone's stink except your own.

If anything I sound even more legit now. Maybe I was a little paranoid I'll admit in the conspiracy thread I started but now things seem to be looking better my way. I find it even more insulting that he may have actually been in t.o. all along! This guy is my favourite DJ of all time, and I have a right to take it harshly that he's bailed out on t.o. the second time in like a few years. You're acting as if I'm the only one who's upset over him not coming, but as this thread shows I'm not the only one.
Things haven't been the same since that wicked night with him and Lawler which kick started a flop Ibiza residency apparently that same summer...
You have to be naive to believe that he's just sick. What other top 15 dj has bailed out like this in the past few years?

Again, being upset is fine but you seem to be the only one who thinks his "sickness" is directly connected to a dislike or hate on for Toronto.
I think it sucks that it has happened twice in a year and a half but it really comes down to luck of the draw.
Past behaviour is a good indicator of future behaviour. Maybe next time you want to see him you should go to NY.

No I refuse to travel anywhere to see him. He SHOULD respect the t.o. fans enough to come here or we shouldn't see him at all. Going anywhere else to see him means he has won. I wonder how his Miami gig turned out
