What's it like crossing the border to get to your hotel?
I have some free hotel rooms right across at Caesar's windsor I'd like to use up. Is it a simple/speedy process to cross? Can you walk across? ... drunk?

There are times that the hotels.com price only includes 2 guests. If upon arrival you have more - the hotel may charge you a surcharge.

You can't walk.

I cross the border on a daily basis, at all different times of the day. I go to school in Michigan. And I can tell you right now, is that it is 100% unpredictable.

There are plenty of ppl who live in Windsor or get hotels in Windsor and cross over for DEMF and come back in the evening. It won't be a problem. On average I'd say it'd take 15-30 minutes. But you never know sometimes it's quicker, other times it's a lot longer.

Can take up to an hour to get across, depends on the bus and traffic. Earlier or later you can encounter more of a wait for the tunnel bus since everyone is trying to get across. Depends too on wether or not there is a game/concert those nights too, it could take longer than expected. The part that I don't like is making the trip back at night, waiting for the tunnel bus, sure it doesn't leave you stranded, but it takes forever.

I've gotten across in less than 15mins before, other times it's been over an hour!

And if you want to afterparty in the D, better arrange a ride back home to Windsor.

That is why a bunch of us from Windsor get hotel rooms in Detroit... much less hassle, drunk (or whatever )

If you got the free rooms, maybe use it for the Friday and Monday night to just unwind and relax...

I made sure on my reservation... 4 Adults!

"Arrive : Sat, May 29, 2010
Depart : Mon, May 31, 2010
Duration : 2 Nights

Room Type : 2 Queens 2 Room Suite-Non Refundable
Breakfast not included

Room 1 : Sandeep Soor
4 adults
Non Smoking**
2 Queen Beds"

They better not fuck me when I check in!

I wonder if I call ahead a couple days, they might allow 3 or 4 rooms to be in the same hallway. Attached even...for at least 2 rooms. There is 4 rooms of us from Windsor, probably more soon...

There will be multiple after parties each night. People will be giving out flyers all over the place.

They'll likely go no later than 2ish. Detroit is very strict on their enforcement of how late bars can stay open.

Not completely true. Most of the after parties I've attended have gone until 4 am, one of which still served alcohol until then They probably bend the rules a bit during that weekend, because said place had cops outside of it.

Hmmm interesting. Didn't know that. It's definitely often cops that shut the places down at 2am. So you're probably right.

RE: Afterparties....

Bar/Club afterparties... depending where, yeah, most are done at 2am, those are the "commerical" afterparties.

Some venues wills top serving at 2, clear everything by 2:30 (quite forcefully too) and go till 4am or so like Cribby said.

Depending on the venue and where it's located (how deep in the hood and who owns/runs it), they may serve past 2am because they simply don't give a fuck, or rather, the people who should enforce it, don't give a fuck *** note, probably should stay away from these ones unless you go with someone who knows the place, area and peope ***

Other afterparties run from midnight till noon the next day as DEMF re-opens...

Like any afterparty scene, there is the money making afterparties, the advertised afterparties, the sketchy afterparties, the underground afterparties, the "what, there is no party" afterparties, and so forth...

I would recomend tho that you choose your after parties wisely, safely and carefully... You want to afterparty, but you need to save energy for the next day too! You can after party the whole year, but DEMF is only 3 days long!!! It catches up to you, quick!

Actually, I think they changed liquor sale hours last year to 4 am.

Looking forward to meeting some TOTAs this May

Glad to hear that parties are running past 2 am. In Philly, bars close at 2 although there is a smattering of all night, underground venues. But I think my favorite after parties will be in the hotels.

yea ive thought about that. i was just trying to confirm if Detriot dies out at 2am as my friend had told me. but of course, im sure there will be those that go beyond that bc, quite frankly, as a ny'er thats actually the time ill be getting ready to head to the party

You're the first person I've heard that from. Glad you had a good time. I talked to a bunch of ppl who were on the boat and said it was highly overrated.

Posted by PurpleHaze on Mar-19-2010 03:06:

it seems like a lot of people had a horrible time on the boat cruise....i dunno....personally i had a decent time, not a GREAT time, but definately not a bad time.

music was decent, $4 750mL MGDs just waiting in those icy tubs, nice layout, nice breeze outside...

ok the bathrooms on the other hand...LOOOOOOOOOOOOL, cant really comment...however - Gera all i gotta say is your story was seriously hilarious

but ya overall i'd give the cruise a 6.5/10, maybe it was just because we were all wrecked from the full day of being out in the sun all day, draaaaaained like a no name battery...but in terms of the actual cruise itself i dont think it deserved the such bad rep it got

2 months guys
