i ended up deciding to wait for the streak to come to aus cause of all the hassles, and general realisation that i was being stupidly impatient...

BUT in the meantime i ordered a second hand HTC desire off the ebay

wanted one since they came out, so should entertain me until the streak comes out here, probably in a few months, then my girlfriend will steal the desire, and i'll move up

was looking at the galaxy, and its guts are apparently a fair bit better, but the desire looks so much better

haha yeah impatience got the best of me too. Was going to wait but my phone was having boot issues so I got pissed and bought it. Rooted out already too. Lol

I've been planning on rooting my phone but I'm kinda waiting on Froyo to come out for it. I saw that you can root it and run a Froyo ROM but I'm pretty certain it'd be better to wait until the actual update is out.

Any advice on zees?

Yeah it is an awesome phone. I quite love it. Also, if you aren't going to use Swype much, if at all, I highly suggest disabling it and using the default Android keyboard. It has auto-correct and you can type much faster than with the Swype keyboard.

UGHH. My 'b' button on the keypad doesn't work when it's in vertical orientation. WTF. FUCK.

wtf serious?! Hard reset (factory reset) the phone. But make sure to backup everything you might need before doing it. That is probably what they will make you do anyway.

Also, try changing the keyboard from whatever it is (Samsung, Android, or Swype) to one of the others. And try rebooting the phone too if you haven't (I presume you have) already.

I'm loving the Galaxy S too! Thanks for bringing it to my attention Ben.

And yeah, Swype isn't very useful when using abbreviations, slang, etc. Just using the default keyboard makes texting a lot easier.

Yeah I just exchanged mine today. Glad I discovered the problem before I installed too many apps and shit.

Yeah I stopped using Swype since the Android keyboard works much faster for me when I type. No issues with multi-touch while typing as I did with Swype.

ps: The iPhone isn't god nor is it awesome. It is mediocre at best. The execution was just perfect to start so they only have to maintain what they did before. But if you have an old iPhone, you lose features. Name a company that does that.

I wasn't trying to make you look an ass, nor anywhere did I say iPhone was great or god.

Simply pointing out the fact (and I know this to be true) that if Pie had purchased an iPhone4 you'd have gone into tard overdrive slating it. Much as you started to just there. But since it's a phone and a company you happen to like because they are seen as the under dogs ro whatever, you excuse it.

You don't need to reply to this, because I don't want a debate on the matter, and I know we'll never agree. I also don't wanna fall out with you since I respect you opinion on tech. I will not withdraw the tard overdrive comment however. That's how I am.

Maybe I formerly would have, but I know that the iPhone has a purpose. It is great for those that are coming from a dumbphone and those that are coming from a joke of a smartphone that was underpowered and running WinMo/Palm OS. As such, it seems like a fucking god device. When it in fact is not.

I have both an iPod touch and the new HTC Evo4. I laugh when people talk about how awesome their iPhone is.

I hate the BB, but if you have to get one, wait. Otherwise, Droid X or Droid Pro (Droid2 with global roaming) is what I would choose.

I am eagerly awaiting the Android G2.
