Guess there is a fine line between professionalism and good social networking. Could make a better effort on grammar.

Grammar Police are already after me.

It is amazing how often people cross that line in the professional world

only took over a year...I'm actually surprised they got their licence. If they were able to put on the shows they did without liquor income then I can only imagine what they will do with that extra income. Ryan has even asked his patrons for ideas on where they want liquor prices at.

I skimmed through the first few pages reminiscing the anticipation as to whether or not Beta was gonna be a flop or be a raging success. Hard to imagine that this was more than a year ago.

It seems that the perfect storm developed. The mainstream's new found acceptance of electronic music combined with a flawlessly executed big club environment.

Its incredible that this is in buckfuck nowhere Waterloo.

I gotta tip my hat to Ryan and co. you guys did an impressive job. You've put all the skeptics to shame!

Oh yea Beta, if you're looking for a DJ to do sound tests (ie. let me spin tunes on that bad ass setup) let me know.

how come a&b at elements got cancelled? the manager clue in that it's basically down the street?

Good on Beta for getting their license. Hopefully this will allow for a few more techy events in the future.

I was by the club recently (outside) and quite surprised to see that it appeared as though the venue was closed down, but I'm glad to hear otherwise.

Well it has been closed for a few weeks now.

Now that they will be open pretty much every Friday and Saturday it will be interesting to see what kind of music they play every weekend. I bet they continue to have international DJs come in but will have them on off nights during the week like they have been doing for the last year. It seems to work so why pay the extra money to have them play on a friday or saturday.

LOL, rev? The only thing good about Rev is the purple room. The rest of it is rank; top 40 crap.

If Rev closed down, the only people that would cry about it would be the general public idiots with piss poor taste in music.

I wouldn't say they really beat them as that's a crapload of lost profits over the last 1.5 years. AGCO plays the same game all over. If they don't like you they just delay it for 1+ year and hope the venue goes so far in debt they fold before or shortly after they can get their license.

i was there this saturday... i dont wanna shit on their parade but it was unbereable. me and few of my 30+ years old friends walked out after 5 min feeling like dinosauruses lol. it was this huge, sweaty, stupid glasses wearing mess.

but, to be completey fair, we went to starlight right after and it was literally the same. starlight has been a hidden gem for us in the past few years and it was my first time seeing that crowd in there. so im thinking maybe students came back or something.

ill check it out again for sure

school is back in so I would expect you will continue to see the 19 - 23 year old group of new partiers out every weekend.

Posted by chris_leslie7 on Jan-11-2012 20:29:

To be perfectly honest I saw that kinda crowd to (Its also frost week), but I think because its now the "new" club again and frost week you'll continue to see this for a month or two, than we'll have an established crowd. Not to mention students think 7$ Cover and 4.50 drinks are expensive... good clubs not for you than.

You do realize that Beta is in Waterloo right, walking distance to 2 Universities and Conestoga campus, are you surprised ?
There hasnt been EDM club in the region for what the last decade, so who do you think is going to be at the club in a University town.

I was there on sat as well, the crowd was young yes but finally legal. Music was a little trancy for my liking but I had a good time.

Things to mention COATCHECK is still a clusterf*ck and never has room. I also hope Beta stays open longer in the future i.e. 4-5 am.
