Quoting that after fixing my little email issue. I now, with this post, am surpassing my total in all the "counted" forums with my total in this thread. This is 629. lol

I don't ride wooden coasters. I like the speed and the lateral g's on steel coasters.

Damn telephone.

i dunno the rickety wooden roller coasters are better because i feel im gonna die at any second! the hurler and Rebel Yell and that other one... damn whats it called? fuck i cant remember..its wooden at Kings Dominion and its so rickety you feel you're going to fly off at any second

Course someone did fly off the Shockwave tho. Flew halfway across the park and died.

Roller Coaster's are the shit and all, but for me they're just too, ummmm, *predictable*

There's nothing like the thrill of going insanely fast around a race track, except maybe that of a fighter pilot in a dogfight or a big wave surfer blazing down the face of a 30+ foot wave at Mavericks.

Well, you're getting closer. Hehe.

To date, I've only been a part-time powder hound. I need to get back to the slopes!!!!

I'm still dreaming of Jackson Hole... or Whistler!

yeah, I've done the backcountry at Jackson and whistler/blackcombe...Whistler is quite possibly the best mountain on earth, but for overall quality I love Vail, its just some of the best views while skiing ever

Posted by Mebot on Dec-16-2003 02:52:

wow we cleared about 3 pages in about 20 minutes..

Almost like that Hermaphrodite thread the other day.. now that was a good thread..too bad it got too random at the end and webmonstah swampah had to close it. ive never seen a thread ignite like that before.

But MR S is right i need to finish my paper now so quit yer posting or ill challenge you to a 154 rounds of bare-knuckle fisticuffs

Whistler has a major major problem which we learned when we got there 2 years ago.

It is too low. The peak is only at 6500 feet and the base is around 1000. Most places in the rockies start around 5000-7000 feet.

The reason this is an issue is when you get a sudden warm spell right aroudn freezing, as we did. It rained pretty much all week giving us nothing to ski on the lower 2/3rds of the mountain and a lot of heavy wet powder up top. My roomate went up one morning by himself and it was pouring rain at the peak. This was the second week of January too, not late season or anything.

Whistler village was pretty cool though.

I need to get in shape and get back into skiing. I was a pretty damn good skiier when I was 7, I learned to ski at Vail...parents have a timeshare there, but moving away from mountains meant I did not ski for close to 15 years.

While the Herm thread was prodigious I saw the next morning....this thread went over 300 posts in less than 4 hours with mainly me and daff and orbax in varied states of drunkeness lol.

I need to go to the grocery store before it gets too late. Hmmm.

yeah, true about whistler but skiing in the rain makes you a better skier, just ski for a few years on the east coast through ice, rain, sleet, and slush I love the rockies resorts as well. Vail, Aspen, Crested Butte, Snowmass, Deer Valley, Purg, Jackson Hole, Steamboat, etc... so many great places to get down in a hurry

You want "quality" skiing, try how my old roomate learned to ski. In Illinois, where the hilltop is at 640 feet above sea level and you START at the TOP.

It is almost always ice too.

God I hate skiing in the midwest....the only remotely decent places are in northern Michigan but you need to go in a year/time when they have a good natural snowfall.

MrS (needs to move out west baaaaaad)

... and i'm back! had a craving for mcdonald's fries and they were delicious

skiing is amazing, i went to steamboat the past two years. my friend has a condo there and we always have so much fun. i probably won't get to ski this year, which makes me sad i've never cared much for powder, i'm all about speed so i like the race down the groomers.

There is a place in PA where you start at the top of the mountain. Its called Jack Frost, not a bad place for the Poconos, but def. can't hold a candle to Vail...Nothing beats skiing out west. When I was on the slalom team at my college they took us to Crested Butte for a weekend and They had just had 1 of those monster snow storms that weekend. The powder was chin high

OMG, I totally forgot about Moguls...Although I used to love moguls I cant much anymore with my knees, but there is nothing better than going down "International" at Vail busting through an unplowed mogul field for 20 minutes while the green trail people cut across
