This is the complete vocal stem,dry. I am contemplating reworking the song and may have to use less vocal than I wanted {I swear this vocal stem sounds like someone is doing something in the background}
At any rate....I sincerely appreciate the assistance and feedback from all of you.
I also agree with a lot of your comments.
I do think the drop deserves more attention. Maybe a SC/Compress on the bass?
I also feel it needs some high frequency influence in there. I am envisioning a sort of pulsy driving stab kind of groove...now I just gotta do it
/sigh why don't they just make helmets that let us get our musical thoughts from our brain on to our daw

The issue I am having is that it almost feels like it is two different songs melded to mix only because of the bpm.
If you ask me...ditch anything you have before 2:09. After that, what you have sounds really good man and imho the "true" song.

I just wrote a reply and for some reason it didn't come up! Anyway. Yeah, the writings on the wall. I'm gonna piss of the gated synth bit and do a new intro that leads to the first guitar pluck section. Thing is, I'll need to use a synth to support the guitar, but this sound will also have to work within the rest of the track, I don't wanna use the choir pad used in the breakdown, if I can I'd like to leave it just in that section, if I can't come up with something decent I may have to use that sound, but I wanna avoid it sounding like the song playing twice within itself! I'll turn the gated synth bit into another song!

Nevertheless top notch track!

Your backing vocals 3:02-> sounds awesome! How many takes it takes for you to get your backing vocals sound great?

Here is one of my older stuff, i might actually finish this. I'll propably rework the entire intro part. Especially the drums. The lead which starts the buildup will come to play on the chorus too.

Those pops are from bittersweet as i have widened high chord lead. these pops dont seem to appear on the arrangement though?

spanking good track mate, no crits

So here's a dub mix of this track 'Are u' I've been working non

Transitions and vocals need more work.

The low end is missing and a sustained sub could help. The percussion is working very well.
I hope that helps.

I would take first 30 sec of this WIP and work with it - must say that this is really sweet concept with massive potential

Sean, this could be very strong track if you some how could add a 16 or maybe 32 bars with a massive lead playing some sweet melody over your existing morphing bass lines - this would create this really moving and driving melodic vibe which is the only one missing from this beauty - my $0.02

As I always judge and strive to achieve is production quality. You already seem to know how something should sound clean in a mix. Keep that up man. Seems only a little polishing is all you need.
Good sense of bass
If I could critique this piece I would encourage to build more swing to your percussion elements. Use different timing methods but build swing.
In other words,give it a groove =OP

From my first run sounds like this is the music she is recording to lol and someone already was trying to do volume automation this problem but didn't do a good job. You could clean it up more by doing it again (volume automation) and see if this is not going to bite too much out of your vocal quality.

Cheers man,

Darek

THANK YOU!! I thought I was going crazy
Yea, thinking the same thing. This is an awful stem and will probably just minimizing the amount of vocal in the track.

Here is the original steam (from vocalist) which I was ask to create remix from - you can see that if you have great stem your job is much more easy lol and you can be really creative. This original track was a trance one in 140 bpm lol.

Cheers,

Darek

Posted by Evolve140 on Feb-15-2015 21:39:

thanks for checking scorp. i will check out the groove and see if i can pimp it out a bit more. believe it or not there is a lot of different swing and timing component to all of the elements especially the drums. i don't use loops or anything like that in any of my tracks. everything is all by hand, but listening now i can imagine expanding on the percussion.

btw this is the first thing i've worked on in 3 months so yeah. not too shabby i hope haha

This has a nice originality to it, and I like the way you dare to be so Spartan. Nice soothing mix.

Posted by Richard Butler on Feb-15-2015 23:01:

My annoying WIP has changed again, now into something like trance, weird.
I might add a vocal?

Domesty's track inspired this by the way. Not sure if I have the bass right, esp' the timing.

Not mixed yet. Claps need centring etc, and more sub.

Posted by Evolve140 on Feb-15-2015 23:02:

thanks! haha what do you mean by spartan?

any thoughts on its completeness or what it may be lacking musically/dance track wise?

going to outro it, then it's done? the age old question

I'd say it could use a memorable stand out item of some sort, maybe a little home made vocal tribe thing or whatever.
Spartan - I mean nice and clean with few sounds at one time playing, often very effective.

I'd just call it electro house but you could also probably call it big room.

cool, nice singing mate. Hey What mic and pre did you use?

p.s. I still wanna here the hook section peak some more! Pulled out of the driveway yesterday and that hook just popped into my head, thats a good thing!

Yea man...much easier to deal with. And I know JUST what you mean about the 140 bpm. Those are tough as hell

Heh. I grew up in a Greek neighbourhood--this sounds like electronic bouzouki.

Yeah, sorry this track is already my remix version of 140bpm original one but the vocal is as it was in this trance version lol -> this vocal was really, really good and clean so my work was obviously limited as far as reworking and repairing - Amy is really great to work with and Dave can really conform that lol

This remix was about exposing the smoothness and lightness of Amy vocal and with some addition of leads (which I was trying to create some form of conversation between them like in 2:05 and more with piano parts) I was able to create this melancholic but vibe driven atmosphere.

Cheers,

Darek

Darek, your productions are always tight as hell man.
Thing that stands out is the piano movement...very bright.
That kick!
And you nailed the melancholy vibe...
(more bass /chuckles)

So which part did you like and which you would like to improve (if this is all up to you lol).
