what 6 gig version? is it longer?

Posted by Froofy-D on Mar-17-2004 03:58:

guessing the 6 gig version is a better quality. TV resolution with sound is something like a few megs per second?

Anyway, outstanding job man. You need to get this on documentary on TV. Great soundtrack as well.

The "raw" video from a consumer DV camcorder is slightly compressed to a rate of about 300 megabytes per minute. The semi-pro camcorders like the one used for the Ibiza movie might put out even more video data, like 1 gigabyte per minute if it is totally raw and uncompressed.

I've got a 21 minute video of the big Dance Valley 2003 Holland rave. I editted it down from an SVCD someone gave me, similar length of time to Ibiza's Children, and my "big version" is a 650 MB MPEG-2 file. That's the same format used for DVD, digital cable TV, and digital satellite TV.

So MPEG-2 takes about 30 megabytes per minute, and about 2 hours can fit on a DVD which holds about 4.5 gigabytes. A 21 minute movie can fit onto a 700 megabyte CD-R for viewing on a computer, or on a similar size VCD or SVCD that can be played on most newer DVD players.

BTW I have that Dance Valley video available for download, but I don't have a lot of bandwidth. I have 40 MB and 80 MB versions. Not as good as Ibiza's Children, but entertaining. If anyone wants a look, send an email or PM.

I know it's been AGES since it was posted up, but for what it's worth, I loved it too

Top moments:

- The intro, so well pulled off!

- The sunset scene at cafe del mar, i don't think you could've chosen a more fitting track.

- Jon 00 Fleming's interview, lol.

- Where ATRC fisrt kicked in. I've heard it gazillions of times over the past year but for some reason when it got played on here it had more effect on me than ever before, just the background pads in the intro sent shivers up my spine.

All of it was excellent though, if there's ever news of a higher quality one (altho 6 gig is pushing it a bit to be fair.. lol) then i'd definitely be interested

shame on me for not watching it earlier .
nice!
