yah fuck this. at pvd, i got drenched of couese but week later i ended up getting sick with a cold/fever at times for a entire MONTH!, i even ended up getting strep throat within that time. im not shitting u 4 weeks of sickness. its not worth it. besides, i dont think EDM is made for outdoor events. clubs is what it should be played in. my $.02

Posted by Vlad on Aug-09-2004 05:24:

Are you kidding... if big events could be held outdoors more often it would be the shit.

Posted by glittergirl on Aug-09-2004 05:24:

the rain was a total rush!!!
but i know what u mean about the sick part.... that sucks.

and walking around in wet clothes sucks.

Posted by Vlad on Aug-09-2004 05:28:

I wish yall had my immune system... I get sick maybe twice a year, but my sicknesses would put a normal person in the hosptial.

Posted by MaDDHatteR on Aug-09-2004 05:36:

I get sick usually when the seasons change because of the changes in weather and things up here. But, just to jump back on topic put me and my g/f on the Definate list. I'll be there!

Well the car is more worth it than seeing Armin. You decide. Other than that, you know what songs he'll play.. Anyway, up to you.

Yes you can bring your own water...but only bring water bottles...if you bring a cooler its just gonna be a burden. I think you can bring blankets as long as you bring a book bag to put it in before the show starts. And Joints are VERY easy to smoke in there. Probably the easiest. Just hide it like always. But remember try not to bring a lot becuase once its 6:00 its chaos everywhere. No room to sit and shit. Just pure trancing.

If i remember corectly they have the entire area coverd in that fake grass carpet thingy. if its the same one from Paul June 25 then its gonna look like shit after all of us got done with it.

Question

Hey there guys!
I rarely post, but some of you have seen me when Armin's been in D.C. and New York. Short guy with glasses, used to have long hair but no longer, getting trampled on by you big folk! ~_^

Anyways, I definitely will be coming to see Armin in Central Park. However, in the midst of my planning, I kinda hit a snag. So I was hoping maybe you guys could provide me with some options. Here's my situation:

Funds are kinda low. I do have enough money if I need it, but after paying for car insurance last week, and with car inspection due by the end of the month (not to mention the meetup with my college roomies next weekend...plenty of alchohol and take-out!), I'm trying to be realistic. My original plan was to drive from here in southeast PA to my old hometown in Central Jersey (Exit 8 NJ Trpk). There's a bus stop right in the middle of town that goes to the Port Authority, NY. That's how I got to NY when Armin was there in April. From there I'd take a cab to Central Park, or wherever everyone was hoping to meet up at. That'd be no problem.

But getting back would be. Last bus leaving the Port Authority for the stop in Central Jersey is at 11pm. Armin is scheduled to spin until 10pm, but it's possible he could go over that. Plus, I'd need a cab to get back to the station. Those are 2 variables that, time-wise, could be cutting things REAL close, and leaving me real stuck! And therein lies the dilemna.

I could just drive all the way up there. But parking lots are expensive...probably cost as much, if not more, than my original plan. Plus, I was hoping to take the bus so that I could at least close my eyes for a little before making the drive home.

I could also just leave Armin's set early to ensure I make it to the bus. But I hate leaving sets early, and I've never had to leave early for any of the other times I've seen Armin. And with that damn $8+ fee ticketweb tacked on, I certainly want to see it to the end!

Now, I know about the afterparty. Money-wise, I certainly would not be upset to miss it. However, if I did go, getting there would be an issue. And then getting back to the Port Authority in the morning would be an issue.

I work nightshift, so I don't have to be in at work until 10pm Friday night (I'm taking off tonight through Thursday night). So if I did end up going to the afterparty, providing I had a way to get back to the bus terminal, I would certainly have time.

So what do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

LOL...my brother and I are very different; he can do things last minute, no problem. I like to plan ahead. But it wasn't until this morning that I checked the bus schedule! D'oh!

Of course, if someone was willing to give me a lift, or meet me part way, whatever, I'd definitely provide money for gas, tolls, etc. Got plenty of good music I could bring along. I even have over 1/2 a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila in the fridge I could take with me and share for some early fun! ^_~ However, I don't want to inconvenience anyone. I usually end up going to these DJ sets alone (my roomies from college are too lazy to drive out, my brother prefers dnb), so I was just trying to figure out how to manage this. So any thoughts/ideas are welcome.

wow...think this is my longest post here. ^_^

And I've been up since 9:20pm last night before I went to work...20 hours. Nothing new for this insomniac, though I think it's time for me to sleep now.

Alrighty...time for my usual milk, cookies, and porn before sleep.

...So what your saying is you need a ride? :P

Posted by CynepMeH on Aug-11-2004 03:16:

Thursday forecast for NY:

scattered thunderstorms, 60% percipitation. And of course, just like the last time, from 6pm to 9pm expect massive rain. Great... I dunno if I'd wanna go even with umbrella, I hated getting soaked last time around. I'd wear a scuba suit if I could only find one to fit my Arturoesque proportions

Posted by glittergirl on Aug-11-2004 03:31:

it was fun to dance in the rain, but at the same time, it kinda sucked. i hate the way wet clothes feel.

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Aug-11-2004 03:33:

...hate the feeling of wet socks...oh wells i guess ill dance barefoot but i rather not...-=P no white tees either xP

checklist of things to bring/wear

cleats
plastic baggies for your electronics (camera/phones, etc)
a non-leather wallet and bare essentials in your wallet lol. i was drying my money out for the whole weekend

don't bring an umbrella. i hated the obstructed views from some of the umbrellas for pvd, especially with the sick lasers

Posted by Ner0 on Aug-11-2004 03:46:

Arrow

I'll have a fairly big book bag since im coming directly from work, I can store some of u people's stuff, at least until the rain stops

Posted by glittergirl on Aug-11-2004 04:09:

even though i bought a "water-resistant" camera bag, i am still very leery of bringing my camera, even though i want to sooooo bad. and its the perfect size to fit my money, license, ticket, camera, and lipgloss.... all the essentials.

should i chance the camera? HOW resistant is water-resistant??
