This is good! Maybe it will get others to join feelin the music true and sober. Life is a gift and people should treat it like one.

Now THAT is a mission.

i agree with what most of you guys said, i hate when i go to 18+ and everyone there looks like they have taken 5 rolls and thier faces are like zombies.i go to clubs all the time and can dance all night long with just a couple of red/vodka. but, going 14 hours like at ultra you kinda need a little something extra, eventually you get tired. so i understand why people do it, i cannot criticize what i do myself.

Posted by Mattivi on Jun-23-2004 03:28:

if the muzik is good, i have energy all nite, esp at space. majik muzik nite i showed up at ten and didnt leave to noon, my brother and rach can atest to that and i didnt do ONE drug. drugs are fun sometimes, but it is all a state if mind, if you think you can have fun without them you will, but it all starts in your mind.....

Posted by Slylee on Jun-23-2004 16:04:

I’ve partied on drugs, and off drugs. And I have to admit, that there were several times that I went to south beach completely sober and had the best time of my life. The most recent experience of that nature was Oakenfold at Space 3 weeks ago. We drove down there at the last minute, just the 2 of us (my bf and me) and drank red bulls (no vodka) and danced our asses off all night. I was so happy.

But a few Red Bulls or Coronas or Green Hulks wouldn't hurt TOO much either, would it, Stan?

Trust me I'm very into the musical aspect without any drugs. I listen to electronic music 24/7, whether it be progressive house, acid techno, or uplifting trance. I love the music and what it does for me on its own.

I've been to many, many more parties sober than I have on anything, even alcohol. Sometimes I simply choose to enhance the experience. Is that so wrong?

I think not.

do you still feel the same way as you did then, and now about the loss of that "majik" feeling with tiestos sets, etc. if i remember correctly that was thesis of most of your arguments. im interested in your response, you wont get flamed here at ta, because as you know its the polar opposite, alot more hating on tiesto than support. were at the tiesto forum, it could be very nazi like if you said one dissenting opinion on tijs. i remember your responses were always very objective and candid, so it would be refreshing to here your opinions, if you want to air them. peace

Well.....My feelings are ort of the same.

Really my whole contention on tiesto forums was how he changed for the masses and in a sense sold out. I am a strong proponent for the underground and when i first started to listen to Tiesto (circa 1997) he was a nobody.

The thing was that i would drive around playing Tiesto and people would laugh and say "thats fag music" etc etc. But today those same people claim they have loved Tiesto for eons because they saw him at Club Exit in NYC and he is plastered on every mix compilation from DJ Scribble's Platinum Shit Trance Collection Volume 36 to NYC Underground Big Beats CD, or any other token commercial jokes.

These people (the majority of tiesto forum followers) are conformists and like Tiesto because he is the "it" thing, basically they want to keep up with the Joneses.

People say i am bitter and selfish that Tiesto is not shared by only people like TAs but know what? I don't give a fuck..LOL. I admit it..because i have seen the "commercial success" movie before and i know how it ends.

The people i explained above will, for the most part, not think twice of Tiesto the minute he is not headlining their local club or hammered out on the radio every half hour.

So i would flame the fuck out of those tiesto forum kids...am i childish? Sure why not. But i was listening to Tiesto wyhen these same clowns where still listening to Wu-Tang Clan and Green Day in elementrary school.

The first time i saw Tiesto (Oct 2001) the place was packed but only of kids who knew their shit, 3 years later in the same city the place is so packed it is a fire hazard, with kids who claim they know Tiesto but never heard him before he became such hot shit LOL...(roll eyes)

Am i proud of Tiesto for going from spinning hardcore at the Sprock(sp?) to playing the Olympics? I sure am. But at the same time pissed off that with his success comes these knuckle heads. But it is ok soon he will become lost when the next big DJ comes and those kids will be back listening to MTV rap or whatever they really like behind closed doors..Hillary Duff or some shit.

As far as Tiesto's performing, i think has lacked..In fact i havent attended his last 2 shows in NYC because of his cockiness and the crowds. The first time i saw him he was energetic, loved the crowd and all kinds of shit (sorry dont feel like explaining LOL) and today he is kind of mundane. Newbies CLAIM i am wrong, but they only know the Tiesto of today and never saw him back in the day to compare...if they did they would udnerstand.

His trackselection was very poor for a long time. So poor i took a break from him and began to listen to Sander and Liebing. I still checked him out but it was too sad to stay with. Today i am back into Tiesto even though lots of the shit he is playing is utter Cosmic Gate type cheese that i would hear on the radio and change the channel.

I will ALWAYS love Tiesto. No matter what. I just am a rela fan that is able to critique. There is more to it then what i am writing but u get the drift.

I first joined TA in October 2001 to defend Tiesto against his haters. Talk about irony.

Anyway if you wanna know more lemme know....

As far as tiesto forums...LOL they are a joke...just look at the threads

"How to dress like Tiesto"
"How to have your hair like Tiesto"

junk like that...but they do have some good threads, but it makes no difference since they get flooded with useless posts from kids who are all concerned about post counts at the same time swetaing some Dutch chic named Merel who ride Tiesto's cock more then anyone i have ever seen before.

Anyway was this set recorded?...LOL

i agree with you on alot of points. the tiesto forum is now flooded with like 45,000 morons now, about 20k more than the last time you probably posted, but most of them dont post, they just signed up because its the hip thing to do. personally i used to like his old website forum better pre 2003. and funny you mention merel, shes is so blindly loyal to him its sad, talks about tiesto fruit of a looms and shit . i myself got into tiesto back in 99' after i heard one of his innercity sets, but didnt see him live to late 2001, and even then he was still alittle underground in the usa, and the sets i saw of him in 01' and ensueing 02' were suberb, and yes he did interact with the crowd differently, and he concentrated on his set and mixing, and he didnt get bombed off grey goose, unlike lately. and even tho i admit his sets have definetly devalued over the last year and half, i still enjoy myself at his sets, because he still is better than anyone else out there, despite his recent shortcomings. the exception being majik muzik nite, god he brought the madness, incredible energy, and nice track selection, imho. but about tiesto being cocky, ive noticed that alittle bit(ultra 6). i was in puerto rico in february to see him for the thirst tour, and got the chance to speak to him for a few minutes. he was very nice and answered my questions, and seemed genuinely friendly and affable, so my opinion on him is that he is still somewhat humble, definitely not a narcissitic demigod like jokenfold, now thats a cocky asshole, who has REALLY sold out to corportate interest, but thats another story. but yeah i miss the old majik days, but the musik has changed and so has he, ive accepted it, but i prefer the trance of yesteryear. 'just be' is nowhere near 'in my memory' as an artist album,i hope his next effort is better. i dont know. i also miss being able to go see him in a club and not come out smelling like some other guys cologne and with three broken toes. buts that the way it is. but as far as bangwagon fans that just comes with popularity, its an american institution, bandwagon university, become big and legions of mindless drones will worship you(conformist as you put it). i just hope tiesto doesnt lose focus of his real fans, maybe he has in a way he's so busy and everyone is on his jock. but i like you will always love tiesto, no matter what, because still no dj has made me feel the way he has. sounds sappy but hey, thats real. thanks for your reply, always interesting, post back if you want, peace

oh, the set wasnt recorded. probably the worst tiesto set ive ever been too. too much tech trance, but he ended well. he seemed exhauseted and detached to me, i dont think he was feeling the vibe, too many 18year olds on crank and xtc. you didnt miss much, markus schulz set was fab tho, he owned he nite.

One thing I forgot to mention about this night. One person I know REALLY enjoyed it. Patrick. (breakinbeats) He turned to me and said, "He's playing tech trance!! This is what I play!" I was happy for him.....

....but just bummed out at the rest of the set.

It was good to see some people had a good time though. I should have gotten trashed, but I was too cheap to buy any drinks that night.

LoL....i used to flame her everyday...dont get me wrong..she IS a nice girl and a loyal fan, but she is borderline insane with her devotion...gets kinda creepy.

i agree also....i think we are on the same page...we both love Tiesto, we both are loyal to Tiesto but we both find Tiesto is infallible.

I dont think he is a prick to tlak to...i just think he thinks his shit dont stink on stage....and that attitude has made his performances suffer.

i think this is where we differ. I think Tiesto HAS lost site on his real fans. One case in point can be playing NYE at the World for people who can only afford $300 entrance tickets..unlike the year before at Millenium Dome where it cost fans $30....i have many other little things that back up my point.

I agree again...I may check other DJs out but Tiesto is always in my heart and all other DJs have to live up to the standards i have for them that come from pre2003 Tiesto.

Posted by Mattivi on Aug-27-2004 06:18:

this is the thing tiesto14, and i know you will agree with me. tiesto has slipped up the last year and half esp, really since he won the first #1dj of the year award. pre 2003 he was so,ummmm......BRILLIANT! thats the best word i can desribe him really from 99-02 his livesets were superlative. i could rattle off a dozen sets, but you know what they are...they are a compilation of one of the most talented dutch trance djs ever to grace the decks... god some of his sets are just so damn GOOD, you just shake your head in awe, he takes you on this celestial journey, you dont want it to end, his musik is like heaven to your ears....MAJIK MUZIK... the neophyte and nuvo fans have no comprehension of what 'MAJIK MUZIK' is its just a catchy slogan they saw on his website or on a flyer...but to me (and you) it means much more, its the essence of tiesto(and he needs to RECAPTURE IT). ever since he won that award, your right, i think he has got caught up in the fame. i have still remained FIERCLY loyal, despite the lack of quality compared to the past(but the quality is still there sometimes)...but when i went to majik muzik nite wmcon 04'... i got floored...the energy was just so surreal so wonderful... the set just progressed so fluidly, smoothly, female vocals perfectly placed, energetic instrumentals, good mixing(he messed up once, but it was nearly a 6 hour set, and hey he doesnty use a laptop)...it was in one word...EPIC..im still not over it..i hope to hear a set like that again.... and thats the thing bro..only one dj can do a set like that again and its him!! i love ferry(this guy rocks), markus shulz, armin sometimes, and a host of other djs... but they could never do a set like that, they arent capable, tiesto is SO TALENTED.. tiesto at his best, on his game, is untouchable.. thats why i love him so much and still hope for the best.. and even tho things arent the same, i know he still has that majik in him when the time is right... i dont know if this post make sense but that is the way i feel...tell me your thoughts or am i crazy?

Posted by Mattivi on Aug-27-2004 06:53:

again, you make a lot of great, valid points.. the whole club world nye 02', 300$ is very steep, but do you think it has more to be that it is in TIMES SQUARE, probably one of the most expensive real estate locations in all the usa? just a thought, but yeah a 1000% increase over one year is conspicuous...is it all about the money? i dont know...
