well thanks... but according to most people in here, its not hard, as all of the "mc prog" artists are cheap and the quality of their tracks sucks and they are only in it for the money... but at least u recognise that for some people its an honour.

Sig should give it away.
I'll let you keep guessing.

I think at the moment there is a bit of a prog-trance overload, but there is quite a few gems in there. At least its taken some heat off uplifting for a while..............

I was actually looking at it the other way around, The world doesn't know has obviously had a lot of work put into it, especially to create that sort of sound, whereas I know you're afraid is just jumping on the prog breaks bandwagon, and makes it even more generic by slapping in some overused matrix sample........

I think you'll find the people arguing with valid points, are actually the ones who like proper progressive, and thats the entire point of the thread

Posted by Ory on Dec-21-2004 15:03:

Man, you people are slow (not directed at Az).

I've told you over and over why I think McProg productions are shit, and you can't come up with a single counter argument.

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Dec-21-2004 15:14:

thats because we dont really care that you think its shit, and we arent as pathetic as you and therefore dont hate you back for the music you listen to, even if we think its shit. why argue?

Posted by rooibos on Dec-21-2004 15:15:

Here's one:

Shut the fuck up.

Thanks, aplz.

Posted by Ory on Dec-21-2004 15:19:

Listen to your shit music all you want, but you'll have to admit that it's badly produced, unoriginal and unimaginative. The alternative is... come up with a counter argument.

or?
I see another internet suicide thread coming up

Posted by AlphaStarred on Dec-21-2004 15:24:

all McProg producers/djs/supporters ought to be strapped to chairs and beaten with heavy mining equipment for their shortcomings.

end of thread.

j/k, though to each his own i suppose. there's no such thing as "proper progressive" as there will be perpetual disparity in opinions on what's "proper" and "good" prog. hence, the term: individuality...

No whats unimaginative is your idea of proper prog.

ingredients for a proper prog track:

4/4 kick drum
filtered loop
tape delay with a long feedback
filtered bass playing a 3/4 pattern
random farting noise

Posted by Zombie0915 on Dec-21-2004 16:05:

why do "proper" prog fans act like their shit doesn't stink?

There is as much trite boring unimaginative music in that genre as well.
Sure it isnt as widely exposed, but does that make it any better? I know you protonradio heads have heard shit you don't like on there before.

Remember the distorted deep voice + 4 note simple bass line + lotsa samples from "real drums" equation?

That shit is getting beat to death worldwide too

So you think that the new stuff is better? All your doing is adding some breaks and splicing in some electro now, ooooh, how original and innovative! Yeah you guys really are breaking new ground by pounding that deep sound, bleh.

Posted by UWM on Dec-21-2004 16:06:

This thread is fucking brilliant, but that lost post is shit.

edit - posted this at the same time as you unworldly, i wasnt referring to your post.

What makes you think I listen to "that other kind" of progressive you're speaking of? Hm? Now, either fuck off or come up with something good to say about McProg.

Thank you, come again.

Grow up.

Posted by Ory on Dec-21-2004 16:38:

I listen to everything that isn't completely overplayed. Breaks, chilled breaks, prog house (not just the "boring" kind), REAL trance, electro breaks/house, even old acid house from the beginning of the 90's. And let's see, that dirty Infusion/King Unique sound, don't know exactly what to call it. Oh yeah, DJs who really mix it up... like Laurent Garnier and Sander K... I like that.

You can't expect a track to be 100% original, but ASOT/GDJB is such an extreme case... well, you know what I think about those shows already.

I'd expect someone who was truly mature to either

a) Respond to my question.
b) Ignore it, and not fuel the fire.

Until you can do that, I won't listen to you.

I know, lets calle them "Global Underground Orphans" since the GU board shut down they all wandered over here and brought the shitty vibe that board had along with it.

yes, let's not criticize music anymore! let's let artists do whatever they want and not push them to progress at all!

instead, let's criticize those who demand excellence from electronic dance music! good idea, dirtysouth you're the man!

Posted by nettwerk on Dec-21-2004 16:43:

McProg is shit.
mmmkay, am I cool now?
