American Techno is like American Cars; cheaply built and poor quality. ( with a few excoetions)

In defense of America...we did invent Techno and House

As far as TTA's comment on big DJs coming here to play...well thats because America will pay their higher salaries...case closed!

But who are the 'big dj's' ??? Are they American???

Fuck no.

We are just importing music from the rest of the world without really beening a significant contributor. This adds to the massive trade defict the USA already has

If it were indeed growing or big why the lack of radio stations? Why the lack of super club?? Why the lack of talent??

I'd love to hear your perspective on that Andy....

Is Christopher Lawrence, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Donald Glaude, Danny Tenaglia, David Morales, Deep Dish, Crystal Method, Uberzone are they small fish? I doubt it

Who cares what you import, fuck most countries do it, if people come out to see deejays at clubs, I consider that as a scene. The rave scene has not died in the states and I doubt it ever will. Does radio stations and superclubs make a scene, look to the UK, most of the superclubs are gone and radio was never that big but the UK scene is still decent, people are still going out to see deejays. Plus you are dutch, so you have no clue about the US scene, that's the other thing. Look at Holland, you have Ferry, Armin and Tiesto who are single handly bastardizing and whoring trance to a whole new cheap ass level, so you guys can talk about talent? What decent act that has not been ASOT whored or anything like that come out of Holland lately?

Show some respect.

Of course. Chicago and NYC in the 80's were King musically speaking. One can no longer make that statement now though.

But the growth has moved away from America ( circa 1988) and towards other countries around the world ( i.e. UK, Germany , Netherlands, etc).

To neglect this fundemetal shift is to neglect the global growth of EDM.

Posted by Krysta_101 on Apr-07-2005 18:43:

I kinda always thought Kraftwerk invented techno pretty much, and they're German. I have a feeling I'm about to get flamed for this statement though.

oh and you can say Holland's scene is not going to the shithole? You sir are an idiot, Chicago is still the hotbed of House, and Detroit is still huge with techno. America is stll growing, it's growing faster than Europe IMO, look at the staleness of Europe, Germany is not bringing out new acts, neither is the UK.

This brings us to the fundamental part of EDM, it's the same old boys network that still gets the major gigs. Not many people actually make it to the upper echelon of the deejay world these days. Besides Fergie and James Zabiela, you don't see many young ones doing that these days.

Ok give me a list of new house DJ's that are coming out of Chicago ??

Don't gimme some stale ass list from the 80's either. I respect the Dj's that made HUGE contribution ( i.e. Knuckles) but I am more concerned about TODAY not the past.

Also give me a list of new techno DJ's that are coming out of Detroit??

How are Knuckles, May, Mills and others considered stale ass?

They may be old but they still play amazing sets, c'mon dave piazza, you have to try harder and I know its you, what about another ban?

I agree...Detroit and Chicago are the biggest, if not the MAIN, step in the evolution of House and Techno...but not much of anything today but i important history lesson.

Stale like old, not stale like they suck.

You're missing my point. You keep telling us that America has 'new talent'. So prove it. Name the DJ's( like I said above)

LOL dude your threatening him with a ban cus he doesnt agree with you...lol sick

Posted by torontotrance on Apr-07-2005 18:57:

you are missing the point

you were banned twice under different aliases, why should you be allowed back on to TA

Habersham? (he's technically American)
Momu (old guys but technically new)
Burufunk (still going strong, last I checked)

but it all depends on what you term "NEW"

nope because he's been banned so many times under different aliases, why should he be allowed to try to evade a ban. People don't need to agree with me, I just don't care, now about morons who just keep coming back, then I got an issue.

Andy....U.S. techno is dead bro...lets get real....i mean there is some talent...but not like over-seas.

Posted by Krysta_101 on Apr-07-2005 19:01:

I remember the Matthias Paul alias, and then there was some other one that escapes me. For some reason I remember the whole "let's be retarded and pretend to be an idiot". T'was funny for all of three posts.

One thing you have to realize is that just because we don't have Carl Cox doesn't mean there isnt talent, or any good techno. Its just more underground imo. Techno is probably the favorite EDM style in boston atm...
