i dont really like the nu nrg project, Giuseppe Ottaviani is better if hes solo... even though he still uses the same trance sounds over and over again, he creates a good melody and concept

I got a kick out of it, but I haven't listened to anything trancey in over a year. I can see how it would be a let down if I'd been following pvd's progression at all lately. Ultimately though it is a pretty good sound. *shrug*
POD2 relative to POD1 is analogous to
Matrix sequels relative to the Original Matrix

Listened to CD 2 and really enjoyed it up until Close Horizon and T34 at that point it just killed the flow for me.
Nothing at the very end was a bit out of place as well and Believe going that fast wasnt a great idea in my book just cuz you can barely enjoy the track.
Now to listen to CD1
I like "Believe" sped up actually.
He cut out the climax in "Closer now" and "someday" 
Its all about the climax/break and he just skipped 'em...

Fuck all of you who say TPOD2 is shit. This is by far one of the best compilations I've heard in quite a while. I loved almost every track, and the mixing is alright. The only thing I dislike is that he put too many tracks on CD1, and as a result, tracks are too short.
This is getting old, you know. Every single release by Tiesto, Armin, Ferry Corsten, and PvD gets shitty reviews right from the start. Get a fucking life.

Heard the album at a Circuit City in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Very uplifting and a lot of pumped up beats that will guarantee to make this album an absolute success. 
The down side though is that i missed out on PVD's Central Park appearance.

I don't really care if the track are old or overplayed. I don't have access to much trance so to my ears this is a pretty decent compilation. Plus, I prefer the quality of tried and tested tracks (well mixed ofcourse) over a bunch of new track slapped together in a mix compilation. This compilation isn't amazing or his best work, but it's definetly good and very listenable.
EDIT: Ok, I don't really like disc two that much but disc one is pretty good.
Overall i think its a pretty good compilation...
CD1 is better than CD2 - very good imo
Well, got that mix last week. thought it would not be necessary to get it on the release date.
so: when I listened to it first, I thought: What the F...
I think it was because I was so curious about that mix that I concentrated that much on transitions and flow that the actual cd was not the main topic in my mind that time.
Then: when I listened to the first CD a second time, I thought it was much much better. If you concentrate on Paul splitting up �zg�rs Track,at first you wont feel comfortable with it, but later on you will think it fits quite well. (Worst track on cd two is track no. one)
I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought it's pretty good. CD1 is a buildup, you can't have it rough & tumble right from the get-go, it has to be gradual. Paul has mastered that skill over the years & his set structure is impeccable. CD1 builds to a grand crescendo with "Messages", which leaves a sweet taste in the mouth for things to come. And CD2 does not disappoint, in my humble opinion. OK, "The Other Side" is quite weak, but from track 2 onwards, it is classic PVD on the top form. The inclusion of the semi-classic "Nothing" was a surprise, but is not disappointing. Very reminiscent of Sasha & Maria's classic "Be As One". The fact is that trance isn't as good as it used to be in the good old days. Peoples tastes are varying - Tranceaddict has become home to houseaddicts, progaddicts, & all manner of other addicts. In these dark days of trance, it is good to find someone still trying to salvage some hope for the shrinking trance-massive. Politics 2 is not a classic in the true sense, but for what it is, an album in a trying time, I think PVD deserves kudos. A good follow-up to Politics 1 & a sign of a genius edging towards his best form again.

I actually like The first cd better than the second. I really enjoyed it.

Ok, Disc 1 is amazing. I haven't heard a trance compilation by anyone in a while that I actually wanted to listen to over and over again, and that flowed so well. I'm still not diging Disc 2. The first track just isn't a good track to start a set with imo (not to mention I don't particularly like it in the first place). Disc 2 just doesn't flow. Maybe if I give it a few more listens that might change my mind, but Disc 1, freakin' brilliant.
This really isn't bad
It's been awhile since my first post to this discussion, and I have had the opportunity to listen to both disc 1 and disc 2 extensively many times now. That said, I'm really starting to get into this mix complilation. It's not as bad as I previously thought (upon first listen). I stand in agreement with what has been said before...Disc 1 really does it for me more than Disc 2, but both discs are well worthy of being a "more than decent" mix release for PVD. The feel of this mix release is very different from TPOD 1...I mean the flow and general rhythm of the mix are very different from the original 2001 Politics of Dancing. The mixing on this is excellent, and an experienced listener can tell where PVD has done extensive editing to tracks in the studio on this release to better increase the flow and give a more unified, seamless feel to the mix.
That said, I definately feel like I can groove to this...it's a pleasure to listen to this mix, and it's not getting old for me just yet. It has the right amount of 'banging beats' and driving tunes to make it feel powerful, sexy, elegant, and groovy. I can jam to this. Too many mixes these days are filled with fluffy vocal tracks inserted in the middle of a mix which totally kill the good power and charge of the mix flow, this set keeps the energy going steady throughout the mix - Paul has a talent in his excellent selection of melodic tracks which are catchy and exciting to the ear (Transatlantic, Thomas Datt - Alone, Summerdream, etc), and he doesn't disappoint in this mix with his track selection.
My first impression of this CD (upon my first listen) was that it could not compare to his original TPOD mix (which I still believe this is true - you cannot compare the two). Paul varies his style of tune extensively in this mix, this mix is much more 'upbeat' and less 'low key' than the original TPOD, in my opinion. TPOD 1 seems to keep the beat steady throughout the mix, with nothing too manic or over the top (except for the exciting Nu-Nrg finish on CD 2). This mix provides a wide range of musical style in the track selection, but Paul meshes these tracks together to make for a roller-coaster ride of excitement through the mix - this one is definately not boring.
Now that that is said, I am ready for Paul to release another completely original production mix CD, like "Out There and Back." This is still my all-time favorite work that Paul has released in his music career, much because the work he did on this release was completely original productions by him, and he seamlessly stictched them into a mix release (we don't see many DJ/Producers making original production mix CDs). Every track on the CD was produced by Paul. Reflections was a production release, but the tracks were not designed to be togther as a mix. I believe Paul is an excellent DJ, one of the best in the world definately, but I believe he has a true talent that lies in production. He is an impeccably extraordinary producer, and studio technician, and he has a true ear for music and arranging melodies, producing colorful soundscapes and allowing his listeners to enter a world of their own through his music.
I was a bit disapponted that Paul did not include more original productions on this mix, but maybe that's because he saving them all up for us to hear later ;-)

I thought overall the CD was poorly mixed. I didn't like it that much, but I thought it was okay, but it shouldn't have been under the POD label, but instead a total different series PVD should of opened up. Getting Away was cut too short, and it looked like the first half on CD1 was influenced by Andy Moor, and he probably mixed it myself, as I heard him mix before(he's no good). Alot of tracks on the CD was stuff he was spinning back in early 2005 and late 2004. The Unknown, Messages, Yeah, and Shine were all tracks he was spinning on his Reflections tour in South America earlier in the year. On of my fav tracks, Falling Anywhere was ruined, the best part was the vocals that the very end but he spun in Lyeto a little too early.
