I'd just like to update the list of sites in the USA and confirm that www.vadj.com is NO LONGER in business. the owner was working full time and didn't want to continue to run the site if he couldn't give it quality attention.

Too bad, i ordered some great stuff off there.

Posted by 2rip on Aug-31-2005 06:44:

this thread is too long to read anything other than the first post and i can certainly testify against HTFR. however they have gotten me legitimate copies of some great tracks, there are other times where the pressing is shady as fuck.

but so is anything that comes from overseas.

Would it be possible to have a vote for each record store, so that the user could rate them 1-5 stars? Then it would be easy to see, with 1 star that HTF record sucks.

As if it is not enough, I just want to say I love Chemical Records. I offer my two thumbsup on that service.

DOTVINYL.COM!

Amazing white labels, mashups, bootlegs, and all. That's why I didn't mind paying the exorbitant price of shipping to get records from them sent to the US from the UK (even after the GBP --> USD conversion).

AFTER WAITING A GODDAMN YEAR AND A HALF, with e-mails and international calls sent back and forth, and reaching NOWHERE, would you believe that I actually went to the UK (when I was travelling around Europe), took an hour's train ride to their damn shop next to Buttfuck Egypt's Domino's Pizza, yelled at their asses for half an hour... before they finally gave me credit back and 3 free vinyls?

Funny part is, I told them that I still want my order, but that they can't charge my credit card until they ship the order.

Still haven't received it, and don't expect to any time soon.

Fucknuts.

My first experience with http://www.euromusicworld.com and I totally regretted trying them out. Was searching for two records, it was stated as "AVAILABLE" so i happily purchased them. I got worried after two days as my order was still being processed so I emailed them. There was no reply but as I checked my account it became apparent that the items were "BACKORDERED" and I would have to wait 2-3 weeks and this was not confirmed in terms of availability. What's worse is that they have a cancelation policy in which if items were backordered during the time of cancelation there would be a 50% charge for restocking. While i understand this but why the hell did they have to put AVAILABLE when it is out of stock? It's ridiculous, I have yet to receive a reply from them till now. I canceled my order yesterday and there is no reply from them still. Just a note for those people who would come across this site.

We need to make some kind of voting system so we can rate all these stores and keep a list.

From my personal experience:
Juno - Good
Chemical Records - Good
Vinyl Warning - Good

If your in Aus dont buy your records from anywhere but VW.

Posted by Endlesswave on Dec-14-2005 07:06:

How long does juno take to ship regularly to Canada? I've ordered from them before but forgot how long it takes to get to me.
I have a gig on Friday I NEED the vinyl for (first gig ever really) and I forgot to click on fed ex. FUCK.

as far as british record stores www.abovethesky.com has good fast service, no complaints.

I've used Chemical for 4 years now and i've never had a problem, in fact, to compare them to htfr. my mate ordered a pioneer djm-600 from htfr, £630, £10 shipping, on a thursday, i ordered a pioneer djm-600 from chemical for £620, £2 shipping, the following tuesday. i got mine on the wednesday (next day)! he still hadn't had his. Above the sky is ok, used them a couple of times, but Chemical is by far the best site i've found in england. '4djsonly.com' in holland is also awesome, very cheap vinyls from there.

anyway, back to htfr
Now, i live close to htfr, it's about 30 min journey. Other than there being a general feeling amongst me and my mates that they are a bit up their own arses, so to speak, they now have a new layout of the store. What this means, is, where you used to be able to look through all labels and years, it's now closed off. Problem is, if you ask them to fetch something from in there, you CANNOT listen to it before you buy it, you buy it, take it home, and if it's not right, then and only then can u take it back to receive................a credit note.

My mate's had loads of problems with back orders from there, he's had stuff on order, gone into the shop, FOUND IT ON THE SHELF, therefore bought it and a week or so later, lo and behold, he gets one in the post, with htfr refusing to refund his card!!

Make no mistake, i do go in there from time to time when i'm record shopping in Birmingham, but it's always as a last resort to try to grab a 'special' tune, but i NEVER shop from there online, and never will.

Me and a mate went to Birmingham last week, it's damn annoying that you have to ask for everything you want. I wasn't too happy about the spanish inquisition when I went to pay either.

vw is a good oneline record store, a tad behind with their products though, also if they could update daily instead of weekly that would be so much better.

[i][b]to those complaining about shipmenttime it's not them but the postman

I work at the post and believe me, shipping time is down to the companies sending them. Companies which ship 1st class, you'll get them 9/10 times on the next day, occasionally the day after, i mean, i usually order on a friday afternoon (from chemical), and most the time i've got them on the saturday morning, if not saturday i'll get it on monday. but i've had problems before when a company's took 5/6 days just to post the order.

Only real problem I have with Juno is wen they run out of a vinyl you can't find it on their website anymore, if they at least listed it as out of stock it would save me the worry of whether I imagined it being released :S

Advanced Search -> Out of stock items.

VW updates when they get their shipment in which I think is twice a week depending on what style.

I reckon it's good because it started as an online store before they had an actual store. So there's alot more effort put in to the website as opposed to recordsonline.com.au which is OneStopDeeJay in Sydney. VW also has better shipping costs.

Fair dos, they should have it listed as out of stock on a normal search though, why should I have to do another search to see that they used to have it in?

because it theres tracks they're never going to get back in they'll still have it listed on their website... potentially u could end up with a lot of dead results... it makes sense to me... typically ppl search when ordering and they can't order something that's out of stock...

Take HTFR records for example, if you search for a record that is out of stock, it has a big cross by that column and won't let you order it, but you can ask them to order it for you by a click.

That's all i'm asking for from Juno!

i'd like to add one well respected shop (at least i think it is) here.

www.city16.com

they've fucked up my order i placed about 6 months ago. they only sent me one cd and that one was fucked too. then i had to send them numerous emails to get them to reply and fix things. then after months they send me one more cd and a replacement to the one that was fucked. then after that half of my order was still missing and they haven't replied to me ever since despite of numerous emails i've sent them. i've ordered over 100 cds from them in the past and at first things were great, but now they've totally screwed me over. and they even went and changed the site, so i can't see my past orders or change my details or anything anymore. i'm so fucking pissed off at them. i can't believe they just take your money and don't even reply emails. they have the worst customer service i've dealt with and that saying A LOT.

I only read the first post about the experience with hard to find vinyl store and that dude. so I thought maybe I would would share and tell you guys whats happening with me right now with ProAudio America www.djmart.com, they dont sell vinyls, but they have so many dj equipments.

ok so, on Feb. 15 (which is like 2 months now) I went on djmart.com to order turntables, mixer, headphones, cartridges, so basicly a whole dj setup, and i made the order. I recieve a call 3 days later, they tell me that they have a problem with the shipping and its going to take them 2 weeks to ship my items, I said Fine, 2 weeks it is. so, 3 weeks later i get my 2 turntables only, i emailed them since they dont give out a phone number to anyone and asked them about my other items, and they apologized and told me that the mixer, headphone & cartridges i ordered are out of stock and they wont be available till next week, I said Fine, I wait 1 week and i got no email yet about them shipping the stuff. so i send them an email, they replied back by telling me that they will ship next week. a week later also nothing, i ask them again when they gona ship them, and again they said i have to wait 1 more week. till this day they have not shipped them yet and the last 2 emails i sent were ignored, they are not replying to my emails anymore, and i already payed for the stuff. i hope tomorrow ill hear something from them.
I really dont want any of you guys to go thro this, it sucks. they made me wait and wait and wait and now they'r ignoring me. and if something is out of stock they should mention it beside the product so ppl would find something else, but making ppl make the order and then call them a week later and tell them its out of stock, thats just unethical. and they lie by telling me everyweek that they will send it by next week and they never do.

after i get my stuff, God knows when. Im never getting near ProAudio America www.djmart.com ever again.

thats my post up here, I just wanted to tell you guys that i realise now that i have been ripped off by www.djmart.com for 400USD, so now i dont think its a big deal if anyone think he got ripped off by $10 bcoz he recieved a bad vinyl, I payed almost $1000 for equipments, and i only got the turntables which were worth $600 both, they ignored all my emails and never sent the mixer, headphone and cartridge. Beware of Djmart.com.
