Yeah....i had fun last night, but it wasn't the best event i've been to, last time i went to room was for Meat Katie and that was what i call a good event. I think promotion was lacking a bit, and the fact that those not really into trance pretty much don't know who christopher lawrence is But he dropped scorcher

My highlight for the evening was definitely Charlie Z....he played awesome I was with Springhit most of the evening and we had a blast.....I also remember saying hello to Gerry, and kicking it up front with Phil and Teflon Teapot for a bit....u guys rock. Anonymyst's set towards the end in the side room was pretty good too.

Catch u all soon

Posted by Light The Fuse on Apr-08-2006 10:10:

i had fun - got scorcher signed and had a bit of a chat. top guy.
got to hear vendetta -ch00nage.
the mixing was hmmz but yeah i dunno hes still my fav. bit of christopher walken about him i reckon lol.
cheerz to u guys that came down early for my set - much appreciated -hope ya's enjoyed it. shiloh - dream on (chable mix) is gunna be an anthem d:

thought steve and scott were great - had the joint going pretty bannanas a few times there. heard a bit of paulie, lister and ben - great stuff.

it wasnt as empty as made out - but yer a LOT of comps due to some promo probz..i delivered about 300 of those comps on thursday lol.

umm what else? got pretty drunk farkin 30 dollar cab home.

good too see a lot of u down and meet some new ta's - springhit u is a kunnyfunt.

oh and teflon has the softest hands i have ever shaken lol.

well i managed to have a good time while i was there teflon and i pwned the dance floor early on loved jpl as i knew i would scott and steve played some awesome tunes too! lawrence's first track OMG ftw!!!! i was only there for the first hour, the last few tracks i heard around 2:15, 2:30am were insane. some of the mixing yeah was a bit off but oh well he's only human big thumbs down for the lame security guy trying to kick vi and myself out of the dj booth, i was standing there with my records about to get signed and he goes you have to leave, i say im just waiting to get my stuff signed, he says no you have to go to the other room now, i say im only going to be a minute mate, he says NO LEAVE NOW!! far out what a dick crowd drifted off as well partway through lawrence's set....dissapointing. anyways good night overall, just a shame that i couldn't stay the whole time.

lol well the man played it so i was happy good set from CL i thought (some of the mixing was but apart from that) very driving trance if i had more energy i woulda been dancing non stop!

also marsh (if u read this) that track u were asking about was Pulser - Point of Impact (Mike Koglin mix)

Posted by tachyon on Apr-08-2006 12:57:

the morning after when we were back from room .. we put on the nicholas bennison promo cd .. and i automatically thought to myself that this is what chris lawrence shold be playing, this is how he should've mixed it..

can't understand completely why something like that would happen, especially into the persona of non-popularity top 10 trance dj.. although at some points i would blame myself in part because i came in with a certain expectation of what he would play, but then i saw him play, even though it breaks my heart, i would have to say that his set was dissapointing

nevertheless, going out to have fun and forget about what shits you for most the weeks is what this exercise is all about

(Anomyst can vouch me for that )

lol you crack me up sez

well i had a good night, phil you crack me up it was awesome just spinning absolute shit with you. all the ta's played really well. spent most of the night in the main room and after lawrence finished headed into the side room. really liked what benny was playing, that tribal sound really suits you man i think you are onto a good thing with it and you had alot of people dancing late in the night when the main room was almost empty.

i thought christopher lawrence was awesome for about 30 minutes, that first track was insane but i think he started to full on and got repetitive after awhile. but i still enjoyed it.

big apology to gerry who i freaked out in the side room when i thought two cards appeared infront of me and i went to grab them and just snatched at empty air

500 comps wtf???

Great too meet you Jules, thanks for glist Dissapointed 2 have missed your set!!! But will catch one soon

---------------------------------------------------------------------

What a great night I know a few are disapointed, but I really enjoyed myself & so did 'Groova' who I hung with for a large part of the night

Hadn't seen or even heard CL live so can't say i'm disapointed in what he played, it was pretty much what I expected & it kept me movin'

Steve Strangis Vs Scott Bateman: Very good, these guys got me into the mood for a big one

Papa Smurf: Played quality tunes!

Ben Evans: Like Ben's style played "I know your gone" which is one of my fav. tracks.

Scott Alert Vs NFX (Live): Brought back memories of Deluxe/Hard Kandy alotta older rocking tunes, surprised the floor was 90% empty!!! No NFX?

Matt Belleghem: Quality as usual!

Got to meet more TA's: Won't go into naming, you know who u are, pleasure meeting you all -

Posted by batemanscott on Apr-09-2006 09:02:

I had alot of fun but as a few have already stated CL 06 was like a completely different act to CL in 05.

There were a few promotional issues but when you have KvA 2 weeks prior then for the first time in 3 years PVD at $60 a ticket, you have to expect a difficult night.

Great to meet so many new TA's, I had no idea how many ppl have joined the boards lately!

Unfortunately Nick (NFX) fell ill on Friday and was not well enough to play. Hopefully he'll have the opportunity to get some more exposure and show a wider audience what he's capable of in the near future.

Fictvision vs Phynn - Escape.

WAS PLAYED

Posted by Renegade on Apr-09-2006 13:44:

Quality night guys. Was really empty to start with, but I thought it filled up pretty well in the end. Definitely a long way from the emptiest I've ever seen Room, anyway (I think Phil K vs Zabiela - which was also promoted really badly by Room - wins that award).

As for the music, walked in just in time to see Scott and Steve's set and liked the really driving sound they had going for the most part. I'm thinking you guys should play together more often, cos you seem to complement each other pretty well. As for Lawrence, apparently he wasn't as good as he was last year, but he was about what I was expecting. Really liked the way he started off (I'm told by Jules that that was psy?) and finished, although it was a bit too hard for me there in the middle for a while. Spent the last part of the night in the side-room listening to Paulie and Lister, who were quality from what (little) I can remember.

Also cheers to Scott and Vi for their hospitality afterwards. I was planning on having a pretty quiet night beforehand but eh... like that was ever really going to happen.

thanks man, feedback is always appreciated. a last minute setlist rearrangement meant I played a different set time, set length and style to what was planned, but hey, I had a heap of fun doing it.

Posted by Teflon_Teapot on Apr-10-2006 00:40:

does anyone know the first song that CL played?

Posted by kelsta on Apr-10-2006 00:40:

Had a good night, enjoyed JPL & Scotty vs Strangas' sets
Left towards the end of CL's set, he didn't play as expected (as already mentioned 50 times in this thread ).. was a little hard I guess? Not sure how to describe it really.

I thought it was pretty busy quite early considering, did start to quiet down during CL's set. Pretty mixed crowd which isn't a bad thing.
