It is midnight on wednesday and this is the first oportunity I have had to sit down and soberly write a review.
IN MY OPINION:
Worst Bal en Blanc I have been to... worst event I have ever attended.
I am not usually one to complain about parties and I usually have fun wherever I go- Bal en Blanc 2006 was not a bad time, but nothing spectacular.
Cons:
-Alain Vinet ruining his career whith a 'what the fuck is this shit' set?
-David Cheezeface playing a great 45 minute start and turning into MC Mario then into a Rock Band with a high pitched screetch.
-The 27 million people everywhere puching me and being assholes.
- The inability to find my friends but seeing every other person in the world I didn't want to see. (This includes people I taught swimming lessons too when they were
"Elie, please don't tell my mommy I was here!"
-No magic to the night.
-The only way I was able to solve the bathroom problem was by NOT drinking. Gotta love my quick-wit.
-Mostly everything else that happened in the night.
-How can I forget Deep Dish sucking more than raw ham. They were my 'sure thing' untill I heard the Brokeback mountain theme music come on ... and then heard everyone around me saying THIS IS AMAZING while I puked. MONICA YOU WERE THE BEST THING OF THAT SET!
- Missing my boy Danny, probably the only other good house set played- GO STEREO! SOrry buddy
-That Stupid World is mine song.
-That amazing Drill song, only in the cons because it has been in my head for 4 days and was all i heard at the recovery party. I'm becoming dilusional.
PROS:
-GRONDIN GRONDIN GRONDIN GRONDIN - thank goodness. Thank goodness for him ... did what he could with the 2 friking hours he played.
-ARMIN ARMIN ARMIN - he has never let me down. Missed Rauhoffer because of him.
-Getting to hang out with Armin's managers by Armin's side while his set= Sherin you rock!
-Nic - for all of you who didn't want to come with me to the scary trance room, you missed something great.
- Getting to party with my Stereo friends somewhere other than Stereo.
-Niko Dancing!
-Leaving...
-Stereo security doing security and letting me in all the places I wasn't alowed to go!
It wasn't that bad ... just that it didn't have the WOAH! effect that all the other events I have been to have had ... no magic, no great memories ... maybe I am getting sinical?
The best part of my weekend comes after that, Parking monday (Stefane + Malek rocked it). I made sure I was gone before David Getto started making me puke again. Hung out with my Toronto friends all evening in their Hotel, went to Stereo- HEX ROCKED IT. One of the top 5 sets I have ever heard there. Couldn't leave till the last track. Spent the day having a blast at the hotel and didn't get to bed till 3 AM last night ... non-stop party. GO me ...
oh god, I discust myself ... to bed I go.
hehe elie, when i saw you entering the Palais you didn't even look happy to begin with
as if someone pissed you off!
MALEK!
Just because I don't know how to smile in pictures does not mean I am not happy :P
Gotta love those comedowns!

Vinet did suck. Grondin was the best DJ in the house room. Fanciulli did kick ass.
Pretty spot on Elie. Only difference is I thought this year was 298423278 times better than last year.
Alright here is my review FINALLY!! I have been trying to catch up on sleep and papers all week and my brain and body are NOT happy about it!!
Anyways, we were up since thursday and let me tell you the music this weekend was SICK SICK SICK SICK!!! Thrusday we went to stereobar, friday -Living and both nights were faking amazing music!!! Soo dissapointed that places closed at 3 am bc the DJ's had me going and going and going!! PROPS!!!
Nada, thanks for Saturday nite and the dinner get together, no worries that my meal was BLAH I still had a fab time and much appreciation for the effort!!
saturday nite went to St. Sulpice (sp??) and met a buncha crazy canucks, drank lots of canadian beer (and never missed the watered down american beer for one freakin second!!!)
Ok I am skipping straight to beb:
EVENT OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!
This event was sooo much better than last year, mostly bc the crowd and vibe were FANTASTIC!!! We arrived at 10 or so and got handed VIP2 bracelets for no apparent reason
WOOT!! and got t-shirts....sorry we prolly took some that people actually paid for, but we weren't thinkin of that at the time LOL
Marco G: FAN FREAKIN TASTIC!!!! (is that a word??) LOVED LOVED the beats he was putting out!!
WOOT! I am going to see this guy again sooon!!
Nic F: ok at this time I am embarassed to say that I was MAJOR sketch and can barely remember his set, I heard it was awesome lol....I remember sitting in VIP for like 2 hours...at one point dance2dabeat was sitting next to me and I was like "damn how long has she been there?" lol (sorry hun!)
Soo glad my sketch was short lived bc the rest of the night was ON FIRE!!!
Infected Mushroom Live: back to myself again....omfg!!!!!!!! faking crazy!!! THE CROWD WAS GOING NUTS!!!! I have to see them live again and I LOVE the fast BPMS!!!!! crazy guitars, great crowd interaction.
Guetta: Usually I like anthems/cheese, but I was feeling the hard beats that night so I skipped out on most of this...the end with Blur and Nirvana mixes had the crowd nuts tho!!!
Decided to sit down and met MANY MANY MANY amazing Montrealers...you guys are fakin great people, I tell you!!I chilled with the MTL crew for a few hours and returned around six for Armin!!
Armin: LOVED armin (dont I always??) Again, I was more feeling the hard beats that night but armin never goes wrong...he played Sweet Dreams and Shivers, holy the crowd was psycho!!
I love armin, I MIGHT have his child!! LOL (jokes) I think I got mere to like him too!!
Deep Dish: A little slow for my liking (they played a lot of prog house) but I had so much energy that I didn't care...
PREACH: OMFG PREACH PREACH PREACH I HAVE WAITED A YEAR AND YOU DIDN'T DISSAPOINT!!! You are seriously in my top ten DJ's and PLEASE PLEASE come to NYC so I can show you off!!! LOL Stayed till the very end with energy to SPARE!! (I thought I saw bunch of MTLTA's at preach (i was dancing right next to magikb and tordan) but I don't know your faces very well??) Let me know if you saw me...pic below..Preach was the #1 for me...especially since the hard beats were KILLING me that night..SICK!!
Party notes:
Vibe 10/10
Girls: 10/10 DAMN hot chicks...I was more turned on my the naked girls then by the men..where did all the straight good looking men go in MTL????
Men: 5/10 LOL and I am not even a lesbian lol
DJ's 9/10
organization: 9/10
To the toronto TA's Sorry I missed you all night, I was chillin with that fab MTL crew and lost track of time...where did the time go?? it went sooo fast!! I barely saw you all weekend but no worries

Cyberflow- what a small world? hahaha I totally remembered standing next to you by the DJ booth in the VIP and you asking me if I was from Mtl! and then the next day I was telling my friends about how some random guy asked me that the nite b4 hahahah....I meant to ask you at that moment if you knew of tranceaddict but I was kinda shy like shy to get my pic with Armin and I ran off hahaha what a geek I am honestly! twas nice meeting u and Taha THANK U for the BEST hug of the nite!!!!
and i was kinda disappointed that I didn't get to meet a lot of MTLTA's as most of u were at ARMIN! for e.g i really wanted to meet Marcus hheheheheh we had beef back in the days
If anyone is still listening
Now that my brain has finally organized and filed the event in my brain. I feel I can give a full picture of what Bal en Blanc was for me.
I had been looking forward to this event for months and It didn't disapiont. I got there at 10:00 with my friends and imediatlly headed for the trance room. I quickly made it to the front. Marco G imediatelly sent me in into a dancing frenzy warming up my legs for the rest of the night. I was really into his set. I also met my first TA during his set but I unfortunatelly forgot her name. She took a picture of me and my fiance and quickly disapeared.
When Fanciulli came on I danced for a while but I really wanted to check out the rest of the place. So I danced around the place and quickly discovered that out of the three b&b I've been to the decorations and visual set up for this years were the worst out of all three. Last years white flowers were amazing(atleast I thought)Also I know this might be something impossible to ask for but I do wish they would do something with the windows in the halway of the Palais des congrs. For me partying all night and seing sunlight do not mix(maybe just a personal oppion). The only visual that was awsome wasn't even put on by the event and that was the four guys dressed up like clockwork orange charecters. I thought that was amazing and funny. Did anyone get a picture of those guys i've been looking around and I haven't seen one.
After dancing around the place for a while I sat down and met a bunch of people. Wich brings me to my next piont. The vibe at this event was the best ever. All the people I sat next to were very cool and open to conversation. Wich in my opionion always makes an event more fun.
Before long it was time for infected mushrooms to make there debut and I wasn't missing that for any conversation. I've heard good things, I've heard sets but nothing could of prepared me for their porformance. I danced nearly through their whole set. But I'm old so I eventully had to sit down. The good thing was I again met good people. However this encounter was a strange one. The two people asked how old I thought they were and I olbliged. One looked older than the other but I've seen that before. They went to tell me that one of them was 17 and the other 40. Not only that they were father and daughter. I thought that was cool. I've never seen that before. I wish all parents were that open with their children. I later saw the girl coming back from the bathroom drenched in sweat with her dad pionting to the exit. Then again I don't If I'd want somebody there telling me what to do.
Went back to the trance room and danced for a while but the opening of Armin's set didn't impress me. So I went to the house room and danced for while. But I felt armin calling me back and I coudn't resist. I quickly made it to the front of the stage and wasn't disaptionted. armin's beats quickly took control of me and I was lost for the rest of his set.
By the time Preach came on my friends were exausted and my fiance was dreading the drive back through the border. I was full of energy but when all of the people your with say its time to leave you can't argue with that. Howerver I convinced them to stay for atleast one hour so I could atlest hear my favorite. PREACH. He didn't disapiont but it was soon time to head back across the border to the dark land of the United States.
Good to go back to my native land. Hope to be back soon and hope to meet more ta's next time. Malek you have amazing stage prescence.
alrite, here's my review of deep dish...it's about all i can muster up right now...
sharam came out of the gates flying playing the perfect "bojangled" sounding tunes that you would expect to hear at 8am from deep dish....the programming was excellent creating a great flow for the first hour or two of the set...but after that i feel the set just went down hill....and don't get me wrong here...it was still a fun last couple of hours...however flow just became non-exsistent....
for example...the simi and masterkeys remix of dreams followed directly by the axwell remix....2 songs that don't really go together all that well....another thing that seemed slightly off to me was playing the eddie murphy sample after party all the time...it just didn't seem to fit right...
but other than that...i'm still really happy with the set...it was on average better than alot of the sets i've expereienced from them lately....like i said...the first portion of it was great....but when spinning a set from 8am-12pm following an act like peter rauhofer....the set is going to need to have a really high energy level and great programming to keep the crowd into it....however, i could not have asked for a better final track than to hear ali's new toon being played...
overall, amazing night....amazing party....my legs are fawked...and montreal is a great city!
but wtf turning all the lights on in the place for almost every buildup in every song over the last couple hours of the party? so annoying. ew sketchbags galore. didnt' need to see that shit.
a couple tracks that the boys dropped...i'll try to add some more as my memory slowly comes back to me...
