hmm off-topic, i think a remake of the LAST DRAGON is being made also (OK now THAT doesnt need a remake either, um just leave the 80s alone pls, that movie was kitschy but fine for its time)

seems like trance and hollywood have something in common....
they like to make useless and horrible remakes

That doesn't mean anything, because the character Mr. Miyagi is japanese, and not chinese.

If jackie chan was supposed to play a japanese mr. miyagi that is ok, because pat morita didn't have a japenese accent in real life.

Anyway did some research it's not a remake. It's like "The next Karate Kid" just another story about an american kid learning karate.

Jackie chan is named Mr. Han, and will smith's son is name Dre Parker.

So it's the karate kid part 4. Glad it's not a remake.

Also, imagine my horror when I read that they were uncertain about including Bruce Lee clips from "Enter The Dragon" in the remake because this generation isn't as familiar with him -- um so what, a legend is a legend, dont f*ck with that

or better yet, lets NOT remake the movie. Problem solved

Cutting out Bruce lee out of the movie, wtf? that mean he can't be called Bruce Leroy, because it wouldn't make any sense. Unless they change his name to Jet Leroy. Anyway the movie is going to suck if they remake it.

Also that is one of the best movie soundtracks, maybe not all the songs, but some really good music in that movie. I can imagine it with todays music, and I cry.

kind of off topic. Did anyone else think Sho nuff looks like Booker T from wrestling. I mean he used to be a part of the harlem heat, lol.

2012 - It was entertaining but could have been more convincing in my opinion.

I thounght this was pretty funny about Avatar, it is a giant rip off of Pocahontas in 3D!

It's called an "adaptation", much like the lion king was Hamlet.

The Book of Eli was fantastic I thought. Denzel is the man once again. Always gets the best roles when it comes to films.

It just hit theaters today. Definitely check this out.

8/10 Wow. very nice drama. who did what

6.5/10 Decent film. felt kind of long at times, but it kept you interested long enough to see it through

6/10 first scene/act was near brilliant. Christoph Waltz carried the film on his shoulders, and each time he wasn't on screen, the film felt lacking.

Broken Embraces (Los Abrazos Rotos)
6/10 not the best from Almod�var, but still has his touch. loved the scene where she comes into the room to see herself confessing to the camara. loved it!

Saw "Daybreakers" last week. Terrible movie. Don't be fooled by the cool trailer.

Is it worth seeing or just barely?

if you are a fan of his work (Tarantino) then yes, worth seeing.
if like me, then just barely...



Food Inc. (documentary)
7.5/10 good journalist work. doesn't gross you out, but still plays at your emotions. what i learned is: we as consumers dictate what is sold to us.

FINALLY saw Avatar. I was hoenstly a little skeptical about all the hype. The CGI didn't look particularly real in the previews. I was blown away though. Saw it in 3D, and it really is an amazing movie...not even so much the story (which was cool btw) but visually it was really something. James Cameron is the man. I really hope it doesn't take him another 10 years to make his next movie.

7/10 in the hands of a better director this movie could have been solid. the transitions where Precious goes into her imagination, to escape her reality, are poorly done and if anything they make the film lose the momentum it had until then.



La Teta Asustada (Milk of Sorrow)
7.5/10 i enjoyed it but it is not for everyone. you may need to know some of the history of Peru, be familiar with its people. there are certain scenes where the director creates magic, but these are short and wide apart and then you find yourself back in Lima, a city i can not love.

El Secreto de sus ojos (The secret in their Eyes)
8/10 Wow, that ending. Ricardo Dar�n, my fav latin actor, does not disappoint. Another great film by Juan Jos� Campanella, great plot, and solid directing. can't wait for his next film, this guy has talent.

I'm just curious, to everyone cumming themselves over Avatar...have you seen other 3-D Imax films? Just curious, because I hear all these great things, but the storyline looks completely cliched. Besides the Pocahontas reference mentioned, it also reminds me of Dances with Wolves (having not seen Avatar), as well as a few other films I've seen. I just can't envision enjoying 3 hours of more copycat plot.

I guess you'd have to be Peruvian to really get it (are you?). I personally loved the movie (thanks Youtube), I just wish I spoke Quechua. It was a very cute, colorful way of showing the ignorance in poor settlements around Lima, always trying to rationalise everything with some mythical story tied to incan folklore. To peruvians, this movie hits home in more ways than one. In a deeper level, it's an almost poetic way to talk about topics that broke the country for so long and are still taboo, like terrorism in the 80's, violence against women and children, how poor people are exploited by the privileged, etc, etc, etc. Magaly Solier was excellent for the role.

I'm very happy it's nominated for the academy award, this would really get the ball going for the film industry to grow therefore bringing jobs to the country.

Law Abiding Citizen (8/10)
Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. Perfect Casting and an overall great suspense movie. Gerard Butler is a prisoner and hes able to kill people while being locked up...thats all Ill say youll have to watch the rest its worth it.

Gamer (6.5/10)
Once again, Gerard Butler delivered. Great movie if you are into Halo etc or have watched Dexter on Showtime since Michael C Hall is in it.
