Here's a tip:
Go live in a country where they pay decent wages for hospitality so you don't need tips.
Waitresses get about $13-$20 an hour here i think, depending on how old they are.
I am so mean

If I end up there for dinner some night when you're working you'd best be good.... Mrs. Hazard is hyper-critical of waitresses. If you impress her you earn large tip! |
A friend of mine used to be a waitress and she had to carry about 60& of her own change on her at all times. Not sure if they still do that, maybe it's only for bartenders now, but I think that's a shitty thing.

oh shit, you're in canada!
always thought that must suck for waitstaff/delivery drivers to have to carry so much change on you at all times
i pretty much only deal in bills and when someone gives me a handfull of change they get the evil eye in return
Alright, so I went into work this evening, and found that things were much slower, and I got to learn a whole lot more. I actually used the computers, and served some tables pretty much alone. With that said, I still don't feel like I know how to do everything, especially with the computer systems, and am not sure about half the shit that I am supposed to ask people etc.
But tomorrow night, I will be working ALONE (after 2 training shifts and MINIMAL hands on experience with the systems,) for dinner and CLOSING.
Ok seriously... wtf?!
#1, I am not getting paid (but I get to keep my tips).
#2, I'm not even sure if I know how to close a table properly.
#3, I don't know where half the shit is.
#4, I will be working the DINNER SHIFT ON A FRIDAY NIGHT!!! BTW, that is *THE* busiest night of the week.
#5, I am expected to close, which requires a bunch of different tasks to be done, which I haven't even been told about.
#6, WTF!!
I am panicking. I forsee tomorrow night being disastrous for me
I cry.
So I just wrote a letter to the ministry of labour asking about the laws in regard to training payment, and to my situation tomorrow night.
I think they are ripping me off.

| Originally posted by Theresa I think it's Friday night... but I could be wrong. Meh, I live in a city with 2 universities and a college, and to me it seems that ALL the students come out Friday night (seeing as it is hard as shit to get into any place). |

| Originally posted by Moral Hazard Yeah, anywhere within walking distance of University Ave is insanely busy on a Friday. It may be a little slower tonight though because all the festhallen are open. |
hey, the poor girl lost her job to a stupid bitch who sucks ass. please donate.
Oh yeah, those extra $15 Canadian from my trip are still sitting on my desk. I'll take care of that on Thursday.
