maybe hes not so jaded after all
then i thought nahhh its only worth it if someones got a camera

I had a heap of fun for the time that i was there (i think until around 2am from memory), but the lack of effort with production and what seemed like a severe lack of organization and communication across the night seemed to let it down quite a lot imo. I had better sound in my loungeroom as opposed to what was going on when Strangis was playing, but it seemed to get a little better over the night so maybe they were wanting to arc the system, but i think it was part of the reason that it took so long for there to be any vibe whatsoever inside the venue.
Having said that, it was great to catch up with everyona and it was a great way to finish off a rather busy few days
Sorry i couldn't stick around to hear you Mr May, so you'll have to save my dose for the boat at Sunshine People
Yeah, this event was a bit up and down.....but overall definitely fun. The fact the turn-out was a bit poor and resulted in the closure of the upstairs interveiw room was disappointing, but alas....more dancing room overall. Decor was a bit average though, but at least i didn't have a problem with the sound quality.
I went for GTR, and although i enjoyed his set and some great tunes were dropped (esp. mistral & another you, another me :eyes
, i guess i just don't like that electro prog/trance sound all that much, of which he played for probably half his set. He got back to his roots though in the second hr, belting out a couple of classic gatecrasher style tunes....which i forget the names of, lol. Overall, he was decent, but i think my expectations were just a bit too high.
JOOF was my highlight of the night. The sound just sounded clearer from him (perhaps he notched up the gains a bit more) and he proved why his up there with the worlds best dj's..... his set had structure, incredible mixing and most importantly, heaps of energy. The opening tune was insane, and 'cj bolland -the prophet' was the standout tune of the night for me. I gotta admit, that psy sound is really starting to grow on me more and more.
Ben was great, first time i've seen him play in a really big club environment and he certainly did the interview team proud. Unfortunately I missed Jules opening set, and only caught the last 20 mins of strangis.....i imagine both would've cained it.
Glad i attended.

I'm sorry mate, would you like a glass of warm milk? LOLOLOL

where was it advertised that the night started at 9? because the set times here said jules was on at 9, which he was, but the tickets said it started at 10 and the guys out the front weren't letting people in because it started it 10 they said, even though jules was DJing at the time....ben came out and had to tell them or something...wierd...
also i was completely dissapointed in the production aspect, i mean the lasers were mad, but the lasers are mad every event. there was 4 blow up lions hanging around, and then 2 of them got pulled up later anyway! i was pretty shattered, i don't think my expectations were that high compared to what gatecrasher's reputation is like for events and production so i thought that side was pretty bad. i don't know anything about sound systems but i thought it was alright, i didn't have any problems, it wasn't too loud at the front like at sasha and digweed.
so i only got to hear the last few songs by jules but they seemed pretty cool, and steve was great as usual, i loved the 2nd last tune he played, reminded me of 'signum - first strike' but he wouldn't tell me what it was hehe. some nice deeper tunes in there.
i had no idea what dave lee was like, but i thought he was great! played some really good trance, including a recent nicholas bennison tune but i can't remember which one it was. i loved his set, even though it was only an hour. what the? he played a kinda tough but not cheesy trance, it was great.
gtr was crap at the start, except for punk. was pretty dissapointed with the tunes he was playing, especially the new one with lange or whatever, another me another you or something. compared to last time he was here at room, meh. although i did like 'fine day' and 'mistral' of course
i took the opportunity to try and check out upstairs, which wasn't open until about 1:30 or something. sorry for the guys who were supposed to be in there!
loved john's set, i thought it was better than at earthcore, some massive tunes such as 'the prophet', i could hear it coming in and i'm standing there thinking hey this tune coming in has the same sounds as the prophet, never seen him play it so it was completely unexpected, i went off though
only downside was fucking 'cities of the future', i don't understand what he sees in tunes like that
anyway he was mad, and his wife and gtr's missus came down to boogy on the dance floor too haha i thought that was cool. also new digital blonde remix was mad, haven't heard that out until then. shame he didn't play much of his recent productions, some people complain about DJ's that just whore their own tunes or the tunes from their associated label, but i don't think john does it enough. he has a massive single out now, why not play it!??? argh. haha anyway he was cool
only hung around for the first couple of tunes by ben, didn't know what they were, seemed a bit vocally for me but anyway.
i guess overall i really liked just about all the music i heard, but the production was a let-down. i was really excited about finally getting to go to a gatecrasher party but there wasn't anything that stood it apart from just about any other party i've gone too.
the bennison tune is cyphon (in my new mix
)
but yeah there were a few muckrounds -i lost about 10 paying customers due to door fuckrounds - and u gotta feel for blinky (whod been busting his ballz all week), may, bateman and nichol who all didnt really get to play.
the metro just got new management and the syndeysiders are based 2000km away so yeah shite happened.... ahh wellz next time gadget, next time.
ps KLF - Last Train to TranceCentral (dallas Superstars mix)
