Try using a distortion plugin, it has worked for me to fatten up some sounds...

I think you shouldn't use Reason for making progressive tracks. Reason is mainly useful for trance tracks, I think, at least it is mostly designed for this type of music.

To produce more progressive orientated tracks, you should use programs like Cubase SX, Logic and with them samplers like the Halion, or Kontakt from Native Instruments. These let you play more with beats and stuff, which is essential for progressive tunes.

Hope this helps!

*lol*

it's possible. In fact you can do awesome manipulations to loops and beats if you know what you're doing. If I find the time, I will post some examples...

Arrow m.o.r.p.h. - mxm overdrive (3rd mix)

Hi people,

This thread is really useful.
Thanks Trancevision for creating it.

Well I have one question:

If anyone of you heard m.o.r.p.h - mxm overdrive (3rd mix)
maybe you noticed this awesome sound which starts at 3:22 mark in original mix.
I cant understand how did he do that sound.
But I think it's modulation of filter envelope parameters.

If someone of you understand what I'm talking about ,please
let me know what you think about this great effect in this track.

Thanks.

Post a sample, Fractal, you're more likely to get a response. : )

ok:

probably an astonishingly obvious tip, but ive only just noticed it....so one or two n00bs may find it useful or something:/
We all know those meaty thuimpy kicks, like the ones dumonde use sometimes, but a more acurate example is the one used in Talla 2XLC - can you feel the silence (club mix)..

Anyhow, you get a meaty/heavy kick, then you compress it/eq it to get it 'thumpier' so to speak. You may want to take the volume down at this point. Anyhow, then you layer a snare over the top. The kind of one that you would use in a trance snare roll...not a really hard snare though. Then lower the volume so the effect is still ntocible, but it isnt opbvious that its a snare.
Ive found that this has given a nice little edge to my kicks....

anyhow theres the crappiest tip in the thread over and done with

Posted by >everest< on Aug-03-2003 23:26:

dont know if this has been mentioned before, but ive noticed Dumonde kicks sometimes have a very quiet, very short, reverese kick going into there main kick. if u can do it right it can add alot of energy to ur tunes.

Posted by arctic on Aug-04-2003 02:46:

Yeah i've noticed that as well ^^

i've also noticed that some kicks seem to have a closed hat layerey with the kick/snare as well.

Posted by >everest< on Aug-09-2003 01:11:

Please ignore this if its been already mentioned (This thread is far to big for me to check all the posts), or i am stating the obvious...

I find that wacking an envelope on your hi-hats can keep the rhythm of your tracks nice and tight. any who has a high hat sample that they're using with alot of resonance after it might want to consider this...

like i said, im probably stating the obvious...

ok i dont know if this has been posted before and im not going to check cus im lazy so just bair with me...

how to make underwater noise is reason:

1) create a subtractor
- lower volume -
2) draw bars on ever note (-c2 to c8), change polyphony to 99
3) change the amplitude and filter envelops of the sub so you hear one flat steady sound
4) make sure osc 1 is off: mix = 127: noise decay, color, and level = 127;

- raise volume -

5)so now you should just have steady noise on every frequency

-press the stop button so there is no sound- (it will be really fricking loud once you connect it to the vocoder)

6) create a audio spider
7) create a vocoder
8) connect to output of the sub into the splitter
9) connect the splitter output to carrier input left and modulator of vocoder
10) put vocoder in vocoder mod
11) at 16 bands, raise band 1-6 all the way and lower 10-16 all the way
12) draw a line with the mouse from the top of band 6 the bottom of band 10
- make sure all levels are down -
- press play -
- slowly raise volume -

13) pray to god it sounds like water
14) if none of that worked dl the rns file from this link:
Underwater
15) tweak as you see fit

how to create sounds

I was curious as how to produce these sounds:

-Gabriel & Dresden's floating echo effect
-How to do the appegiated vocals like in infiniti- shadow (dj hyper mix)

also need to know best software effects plug in. I mainly use hardware for sounds and compression but need more effects.

thanks

Not a perfect cover, dynamics of the track are different and the bassline progression is just halfassed. Was mainly going for the main lead synth sound which I think i got.

Pro 53.

sounds awesome man!!
could use some more fx tho.. and some notes aren`t right, but the rest sounds almost identical

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Oct-14-2003 16:21:

You can still clearly hear the "software sound" in it though...

Posted by Joi Lamusic on Oct-14-2003 18:17:

State of Matter, really nice sounding loop there But how U did that? or whit what??

Let us know, please.....

Posted by State of Matter on Oct-14-2003 18:46:

Updated with better dynamics, a more surrounding pad.

Mr. Mystery why don't you seem to approve of anything I do (you've answered everything i've said with something negative/condescending)? Anyways, what do you mean by software sound?

I used pro 53 for this btw.

Posted by Joi Lamusic on Oct-14-2003 19:14:

Pro52..that is the VST synth?

Posted by State of Matter on Oct-14-2003 19:15:

Pro 53. And yeah its a vst synth. The best.

Posted by Joi Lamusic on Oct-14-2003 19:18:

Well...at least it sounds really nice in that loop U made IMO Did U use the Pro 52 in Fruity?
