actually no, i moved around alot, caught 30 mins of schulz and ferry and when tiesto came on i was like what a douche im out. i listened to stanton warriors for like 30, the rest was in hardcore/dnb area.

dylan was throwing down hard as always, wasn't surprised subfocus's first tune was timewarp, robbie long playing an awsome set, caught another hardcore dj that was playing gabber but pitched up way to high, to keep speed with hhc i guess? i didnt see shimon, i saw him once in toronto

What remix did John Beaver play of carte blanche. It was pretty tight, nothing like the original, but still good.

If I'm correct that would be the new Cosmic Gate Remix of it.

Pro's:

Marcus's Set - Fantastic, also a very nice guy who took time out to talk with his fans.

Ferry's Set - Unbelievable, a real trip down memory lane there at the end. Wonderful moment there with all the flags waving and the confetti.

John B's set, he set the crowd off with the right mood. Also for his great friendliness and hospitality. He deserves an award or something.

Undercover SFPD was doing quite an crackdown operation. I suppose this is a mix pro/con depending on how you look at it.

Good sound quality and visuals from skills during their up time

Con's:
- The power outage happened more or less at Tiesto's "fire it up" point of the set, so a lot of people were left disappointed. I heard Dyloot say back stage that "everybody's coming for Tiesto", so I can only imagine how shocked Skills is right now. I also heard him say that Tiesto was not going to be allowed any encore or songs past 2:00, so I guess it wasn't the worst thing that could have happened. I wouldn't expect this from an event that was selling $80 tickets, however. I hope skills takes care of their customers, Henry and I talked to a couple first timers who were left with a very bad impression of the scene in general.

- Dyloot kicking John B's parents off of the back of the stage during the middle of his performance. I though it was very inconsiderate and they already had permission from other skills staff. John continued to get the crowd very excited regardless of the situation

- Security changing their mind about the definition of credentials half way through the show... you kind of had to play chutes and ladders with this one.

- This was my first experience with Daly City PD, and I was very unimpressed. Last time I checked, pushing the crowd back with your motorcycles is neither professional, effective or safe. I'm not so sure they needed to be walking around wielding batons at random people either... was there a small riot or something I missed? This doesn't seem like very standard practice for an "evacuation".

I think this was great of Tiesto to say, both on his myspace, and on his website.

Here is a message for all of us who attended POP. This couldnt be helped and even though it wasent his fault, he offered some kind of apology.

I have never been impressed with Security at the venues especially these massives and big event raves we have. Thats the only real complaint I have. No more grandma's. Some of the older Security ladies were even kicking some of the Male Security guys out from where they were suppost to be or were told to stay.

Message from Dj Tiesto:

25-05-2008

To all the people that attended the show in San Francisco at the Cow Palace
I offer my sincerest apologies for the power outage.

I was waiting in the dressing room until 1.45 am, at which time I was informed that there was no way for the party to continue.

I had an amazing time for the time I was able to perform and I look forward to coming back to San Francisco very soon.

Until next time, Tiësto.

Quite Honestly, this is one reason I do not attend very many raves nowadays.... I can see how you would want to appeal to a younger audience, but its hurting the scene more than its building it. Can we limit the younger audience raves?

I can understand being young and stuff, and seeing how the power outage videos are popping up all over youtube.. but man, seriously stfu.

Listen closely to what this one patron is saying. Kinda pissed me off a bit.

breaks room!

disappointing sets from schulz and ferry to be honest... of course i didnt catch it all but if you can't keep my attention within 30 minutes at a massive im checking something else... its a massive! just bang it out wish markus would stop playing the prespective space also thought it was just me but bumped into others who had the similar thoughts esp in the breaks room heh

caught the last 15 minutes of tiesto before the black out and it was good

also, Alain WTF

The only thing that i thought was pretty ridiculous was that they charged $3.25 for water. $3 is ok.. $4 is ok.. but $3.25!? Luckily i found at least $3 worth of quarters on the floor lol.

mobius, you realize that the Cow Palace isn't in SF, right? It's in Daly City. Daly City PD has a completely different mindset than the SFPD on how to deal with things.

Their crackdowns during shows at the COW Palace are a bit historical. I think cracking down is good, but the methods they use are rediculous and it's intimidating, even if you are completely sober. I heard from a couple people that they had dogs sniffing people as they were leaving. There were undercovers dressed up going through the crowd just filming everything. Things like that.

That leaves a bad taste in people's mouths. And it's the biggest complaint I have always heard in the past when it comes to people having bad memories abotu the place.

Anyhow, I have never, ever seen SFPD even remotely do anything like this....SFPD is usually very lax at events like this.

wow, first bad report I've heard on Markus' set... in fact, most peeps I know won't shut up about how good it was compared to the others...I missed it though. I arrived late and waited in line forever to grab my pass.

To each his own... acutally makes me feel a little bit better know that at least someone wasn't into his set after I missed it lol

I heard that PG&E had a grid completely fail. No, it wasn't some DEA covert operation. The outage affected parts of Daly City including several blocks around Cow Palace. This was early Sunday morning I heard it. I haven't really looked around to see if there's a more official word...just saying what I heard.

Posted by theSEAN on May-26-2008 10:05:

weren't there a bunch of blackouts all throughout SF on that saturday afternoon anyways?

even if Tiesto's much-better-than-last-July's set ended an hour early, it was actually a pretty good night (overlooking the jailbait). and yea, Markus' set was good, better than i was expecting actually. and this is probably just me, but Ferry's set was totally kickin. I was seriously gettin tired of the L.E.F. sound so it was nice to hear more melodic stuff from him... but man.. that power outage happened right at my peak then totally flacid after that..

those cops were srsly on riotbreaker mode... i mean come on.. was the aggressive motorcycle barrier really necessary?

I'm almost starting to wish I went.

I don't recall haveing heard a consistently solid set from Schulz in about three years (with the exception to the first disc of Ibiza '06).

As for the t/l, I'm pretty sure Foresaken worked its way into it at some point.

pics

This was my first official rave and I had a great time. Cool people, great music, amazing atmosphere. Is there a Pics thread or a site i can go to to check out pics and videos or share some of my own.

yea, i didnt mean to speculate about some DEA crackdown... but Tiesto even offer some apologies, even tough is not his fault... no apologies needed, but some official statement would be a nice thing for Skills to do...

Thank you for clarifying that Dave, I had no idea. I'll edit the post to change that.

well like i said, i caught about 30 minutes so im not sure how the rest of the set went but it didnt keep my attention. Hyper wasn't all the great either but it was more enjoyable than Schulz. Lee Combs was sick and I enjoyed Icey's power mixing Stanton Warriors started off good (Chemical Brothers & Digitalism tracks right from the start!) but then it felt like it was dragging on... so we went back to the main room for Tiesto who was banging it out!

Also it wasnt Skills/Cow Palace/DCPD fault for the power outage. I thought it could of been Cow Palace at first but when we got out, I notice the whole nieghborhood behind Cow Palace completely out as well

Also Blurr, that was a funny text!

Blurr: I accidentally went into the happy hardcore room
me: Isn't that your BPM?

next time don't come if you can only complain

WTF?! I paid $70 just like everyone else. I have the right to bitch if I please. Its my own opinion, and if you don't agree with it, too fucking bad. Next time don't read my posts.

And just to clarify... Never did I once mention that Skills did a bad job with the event. Read my post again, I was having a lot of fun prior to the power going out because of the party Skills had put on. I was just highly disappointed that the night ended early. Get your facts straight before you come at me like that.

Posted by drEamer on May-26-2008 20:40:

still a great night regardless of power outage or not.....Tiesto was owning people, even people i know who dont like Tiesto said they loved it....ferry brought it, Markus not so much, but to me thats typical of him not being the headliner.....he leaves it for them!!

Posted by GeminiZ on May-26-2008 20:54:

some tracks i remember through markus' set:

daydream
the perspective space
the legacy 2.0
let it flow
turn it on
perfect
