But in all seriousness, if you're digging Anjunadeep, Jaytech and Boom Jinx are going to destroy Karu & Y with those tunes and even better tunes in a full on club setting. And you know the Anjunadeep room is going to be packed, even if the Anjunabeats room is kind of open.

if i end up going to this i dont see myself being in the anjunabeats too much. im just wondering is it worth it to spend $30 on a show just because i like ONE cd? i mean it is a damn good cd and id like to check out something new. but the fact that i have such a packed friday planned it makes it hard. i probably wouldnt even stay that long. by 5am i'd probably be out.

im really trying to justify going...

I think you answered your own question by saying you are tempted by Anjunadeep. That lineup owns and is worth the price of admission. Add to it the fact that you can stroll out to catch some Martin Roth, or check out Wippenberg's big room sound. Plus, there's some Mystery Guest, but I can't seem to figure out who.

i despise a&b so i would be nowhere near them when they are on. i caught wippenberg at mysteryland and wasnt impressed. emery and tyas im already getting friday. and dont care too much about the other guys. i mean i wouldnt hate being there (except for during a&bs set) but the anjunabeats room defiantly isnt worth it by itself. for me atleast.

its anjunadeep room that im considering... but lie i said in the previous post. $30 because i like one cd? meh. i dunno.

anybody got any other sets they could post that might make this decision a bit easier?

Well, I would say that a good reason is the club itself, but it's a little different for you since you live down there, so not a big deal. I'm assuming you are trying to decide whether to do this instead of staying in that night?, in which case it's a tough call and comes down to whether you wanna go out at all that evening, regardless of the party.
If the big room has no impact on your decision at all, I'd say it's probably a no go. But I would appeal to the idea that Emery and Tyas should be playing to a full house, as I expect this party to be much bigger than last year's and, along with the better club, it might make for a different experience compared to the next night.

honestly i didnt like karu&y much at all. but ive only been once. back in 07 for a&b, svd, & b&j. maybe its changed a little... hopefully. im assuming the anjunabeats room will be the mainroom... but wheres the anjunadeep room then? that little red room from when you come in from the ourside?

im kinda with u on that.....they put me to sleep!

I wish I had a Jaytech set laying around to link to you...his warm up set before A&B in NYC was better than A&B's set in my opinion.

I'm really looking forward to Boom Jinx too, haven't heard any sets of his yet, but I love his productions, so I'm hoping his sets reflect that sound.

i went to Karu & Y in 2007 before I moved to NY.. so early March ?!? (it was for a shadow lounge reunion thingy)

Karu is completely different from then. Last year it looked amazing compared to how it was before. The dj booth was lil and kinda boxed in.. I think what Karu did was purchase some of the Ice palace side.. cuz it is way bigger than I recall in 07.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Mar-16-2010 15:01:

there so u can kinda see how the mainroom was last year ^

trying to find one of the side lounge

edit - this is the Karu & Y I used to know:

@3:30 u can see how it used to be...

Does anyone know the set times yet?

Posted by element-y on Mar-16-2010 23:59:

THe AM only party made use of the main room better imo compared to Anjunabeats. Hope this time they go with a little more.

Might be hitting this up!

Count me in on this 1! + 5

Posted by snatonsb on Mar-18-2010 16:01:

SET TIMES:

Anjunabeats
10-11 Andy Duguid
11-12 Martin Roth
12-1 Josh Gabriel
1-2 Andy Moor
2-4 Mystery Guest
4-5 Gareth Emery
5-6 Wippenberg
6-7 Sean Tyas

Anjunadeep
10-12 James Grant
12-1 Jody Wisternoff
1-2 Jaytech
2-3 Boom Jinx
3-4 16BL
4-5 Jay Lumen

Bogus A&B screws us over with only a lame 2 hour set again.

Posted by trancension on Mar-18-2010 16:09:

Worst part is they're playing against Boom Jinx and 16 Bit Lolitas

I might skip A&B at their own event...kind of frustrates me.

And why is Jaytech only playing an hour? That's a fucking travesty. He should have at least 2 hours. This is the problem of having too many DJs at an event Just not enough time to go around...ugh.

Well just pick and choose wisely.

OT: but what song is that in the A&B video in the previous page...I know I know it, but it's driving me crazy cause I can't place the name...

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Mar-18-2010 18:34:

Martin
Jody
Jaytech
A&B for 1 hour
16BL
Emery

my night

Posted by element-y on Mar-18-2010 19:11:

wow only 2 hours? the 3 hour set at nocturnal was amazing. with 2 hours doesnt seem like any chance for a 45 minute oceanlab set. DAMNIT

timeslot is pretty messed up imo. all over the place. odd flow.

Posted by stepotts on Mar-18-2010 20:01:

Yeah, its ok, expected 2 hours cos of the number of acts on. Looking forward to 2 hours of James Grant to open, wish Jaytech had more too though. Then last few hours are gonna get dark and dirty though, Wippenberg and Tyas are gonna smash it out!

Posted by element-y on Mar-18-2010 20:09:

Im surprised tyas is on that late. He is the hardest style there. And wippenburg before him i think makes no sense. Wippenburg is probably the most mellow and proggressive of them all. He should be closing it out. If I had to make the set I would do it like this

10-11Andy Duguid
11-12Martin Roth
12-1Andy Moor
1-2Gareth Emery
2-4Above and Beyond
4-5Sean Tyas
5-6Josh Gabriel
6-7Wippenburg

Makes far more sense in my opinion for flow.

It's to keep people dancing at the end. They've done it at shows I've been to before, people get tired towards the end, so too much floaty trance and they end up stading around too much, and then leave. Whereas if they're smashing it out, you don't have time to notice that you're absolutely knackered!

Posted by element-y on Mar-18-2010 21:18:

yea but now you will be dancing, and then wanting to sit, dancing then wanting to sit. No flow. i rather dance non stop then sit down and listen to the rest.

Posted by hiram on Mar-18-2010 23:35:

kinda upset Tyas is last and that wippenberg isnt earlier. still looks great to me! i was worried i might miss either as i wont be getting there till about 1

Posted by DPetey81 on Mar-19-2010 01:06:

I've got a feeling that Wippenberg will play pretty hard in that time slot. The progression makes perfect sense to me, and seems to go from softest to hardest throughout the evening
