Can someone clarify something for me? I thought I heard it reported that the UN action forbids foreign occupying ground troops, but that mercenaries were acceptable. Is this true or did I hear wrong?

"Police and the Basij, a paramilitary group suppressed both peaceful demonstrating and rioting using batons, pepper spray, sticks and, in some cases, firearms. The Iranian government has confirmed the deaths of 36 people during the protests,[33] while unconfirmed reports by supporters of Mousavi allege that there have been 72 deaths (twice as many) in the three months following the disputed election."
Stop making up numbers. You think 72 people being killed over the span of 3 months warrants a US attack on Iran? Gaddafi has killed thousands (so far) and has basically stated his intent to murder further mass amounts of civilians. You can't even begin to compare the two.

In the protests to this sham of an "election", over 150 people died. But the riots were pivotal in exposing the power of social media when a video of Neda Agha-Soltan being shot and killed by local police circulated all over the Internet (video embedded in this item.) It has been widely chronicled as "probably the most widely witnessed death in human history".

At least wikipedia has sources. The link you posted has no sources whatsoever. Very credible I must say.
You obviously don't have much familiarity with the Iranian government either if you think that it is a dictatorship. If the Iranian government wanted to get rid of Ahmadinejad, they could. The Tehran police is under the supervision of the Ayatollah, not the President.

You're conveniently leaving out the fact that that happened over a year ago
It doesn't count unless the rebellion is in real time?
I was talking about right now. People were saying "we should be attacking Iran instead" which makes the timeframe in which the rebellion occurred pretty important. Keep in mind that this situation in Libya is coming at a time where the desire for democratic government is spreading across the Middle East. The timing is pretty important.

"In April 2007, the Tehran police, which is under Khamenei's supervision, began a crackdown on women with "improper hijab." This led to criticism from associates of Ahmadinejad.[88]"
Another article about the "Tehran Police." :

So...

I don't know man... Hardcore Trancer is originally from Iran. No kidding. He probably knows more than what an American publication refers to as the "Tehran Police".
Shit, is going to hit the fan in the next few days.

I wonder what would happen if the citizens of the US revolted and created an uprising based on over-spending, misrepresentation, and economic turmoil? Would the cause be fighting against the National Guard, the US Military, the UN?
Here we go again. We just cannot win I guess. Criticism on Libya airstrikes.

I'm not sure how I feel about the UN and the US supporting "rebels". The only "crime against humanity" is Gadaffi terrorizing its own citizents. THere are tribunals and a courts for that. He should be hung for not adhereing to the Geneva Convention. But to invade a country. Side w/ rebels, in a midst of a civil war. I'm not sure I agree with that. I do agree with the fact that killing innocent civilians is terrible and should be stopped with whatever force. But, looking at the entire picture, I'm not sure I like this intervention.

I think this operations are different than the ones taken in Irak. This armed interventions are justified IMO, plus they are supported by the UN, The Arab League, and most important by the Lybian population.
is your turn
I just listen he is delivering 1.000.000 arms to hes followers. pathetic.
lol @ the far Left Congressional moonbats. Dennis Kucinich is calling for a possible impeachment of Obama over this (yes, even I think this is patently absurd).
quote:
A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday. Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the presidents actions during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part. Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq only to be blocked by his own leadership asked why the U.S. missile strikes arent impeachable offenses. Kucinich also questioned why Democratic leaders didnt object when President Barack Obama told them of his plan for American participation in enforcing the Libyan no-fly zone during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, sources told POLITICO.
