question re: boat party

Does the party end as soon as the boat docks? Or does it continue on for a little longer?

For the 12th year in a row, the worlds dance music disciples will descend on downtown Detroit over Memorial Day weekend for Americas largest techno-centric dance music event. Long gone are the years of in-fighting and dollar drama that once plagued this unlikely dance music success story. Whats left is the music, performed by over 70 top-shelf local and international acts.

Whats most impressive is how after 12 years, Movement continues to tap new and creative sounds and talent that fit perfectly within the historic mandate of the city that invented techno. And how the festival has become a showcase for electronic musc talent with an ability to draw crowds far greater than the average underground clubnight America. With that in mind, we selected a few of our favorite performers whose names wont appear in much Movement press, but are certain to rock Hart Plaza this weekend.

Really looking forward to checking out Claude Young, Space Dimension Controller, DJ Harvey, and Traversable Wormhole from that list.

I only plan to hit Circo Loco after party and Old Miami "Need I say more".

The new party added during the day Monday featuring Magda, Jamie Jones + Lee Foss called "Hot Natured" looks good, but during the last half of the festival??

Hot Natured is the best party you can hit at the end of the weekend, and it'll go long into the night...they do a party Sunday night in Miami after "music week/wmc" whatever you wanna call it to help people decompress and keep the party going and its always one of the chillest vibes, total degenerates that can't sleep yet and don't wanna stop
....not everyone will stay at the Fest til the very end, so this party will be good.
Disco set from Magda will be hot. Don't miss!

Posted by DPetey81 on May-19-2011 00:27:

That Hot Natured party would definitely be a good vibe at the end of a long weekend. I'm keeping it as a backup plan for sure but am really crossing my fingers for a last minute party like the Hawtin one on Monday last year.

and to all those speculating or "confirming" Ricardo as the special guest....dontcha think its a bit STUPID to be airing it out on an online message board? especially if you've been given "special information" from friends that work for Pax or any other promoter for that matter?
I'd be fucking PISSED if someone blew a secret like that (as the promoter) after I trusted few..
then again, this is TA...fucktards will be fucktards and wonder why shit gets messed up and cancelled or changed...

Definitely looking forward to that. I've bought a ticket, but I'll play it by ear. I want to check out Ramadanman, Scuba and Claude Young on Monday. However, I think trying to get into Hot Natured after the festival is over will be impossible. So we'll see how it goes. Also depends on the weather situation.

Sometimes you leak information because it's the quickest way to get to the intended masses.

You think any raveneck who is excited to see Skrillex knows that it's going to be Ricardo? Probably not, but the people who are excited for him, they know. And it's not even confirmed yet, which could be even better advertising or hype material, what if it's not Ricardo? There will be a mass exodus from the other tents at that time to go to the main stage expecting Ricardo, and maybe finding someone else as a special guest, could be better or worse than Ricardo depending on who you are?

It's about promotion, Paxahau is pro at it, hence where they are and what they do, they are not new to this. Why do think everything is announced in spurts, or blocks, and parties are announced week after week instead of everything all at once?

All this shit was planned months ago, signed, sealed and ready to go. But you sprinkle the DEMF dropping all the way to DEMF to get buzz and excitement.

That's what I'm worried about, but there is no way in hell i'm going to miss Fatboy Slim close the main bowl and festival.

Besides, who am I kidding, I won't even be functional enough to handle another party after 3 days...

They are fun... but making it to an from... after a day in the rain last year, Monday night was a degenerate night in, still full of degeneration, but in the hotel room lol!

Worm Popper

I haven't been this excited to attend DEMF since my first year in 2008, hands down!!!!

It's unreal how well Paxahau can organize a festival of such magnitude and pull it off so god damn smoothly. The amount of co-ordination, liaising, phases of promotion....blood, sweat, tears, physical hours that gets put into this festival is absolutely mind boggling!!

From that first announcement of when pre-sale tickets go on sale - I get that initial butterfly in tummy excitement....Paxahau loves keeping us on our fucking toes and should rightfully do so!! The speculation of who's gonna play this year...rumours & leaks start spreading like wildfire...the confirmation of rumours....initial B-class after parties get the ball rolling....first batch of acts released....A-class after parties announced...full list announced...time slots are released ... we start planning our days! ...and then they SLAM us with all this DEMFGOODNESS news a week or two before the festival!! Year round anticipation...fucking love it.

That CLR party is going to be fucking BONKERS!!!

As you can tell I'm pretty much at 90% full excitement lol!

That Hot Natured party looks super tempting....I think I'm going to buy tickets regardless...if I end up there then fuck ya let's keep the party going but if not I'm sure some degenerate will gladly take it

IT'S ON!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to get the first 2 24s, dump them in ice water and let the games begin
