What kind of attitude is that? You would see some really great results if you kept carbs under 30g/day. I rarely ever have sugar/carbs and no other thing has given me the results that this has.

I'm staying longer now just to make sure I don't go more than 2 times per week, gym costs money...

Dude that is overkill. You should be in and out of the gym in 45 mins to 1 hour tops. Most people over train and don't even know it. Planet Fitness is $10 a month, maybe $15 at the most for a membership. I'm sure u can find a gym that's comparable to this. Money should be no excuse. Break up that extremely long workout to 4 days instead.

i refuse to deprive myself of stuff i like. if i do say so myself i'm in great shape and overall i eat much better than probably 90% of people. i just like having something sweet once a day; i'm no glutton.

Awwww u glutton =p I'll have some dark chocolate...the 85% stuff that only has like 6g carbs for a half bar sometimes, but I never even crave that shite luckily. Your not depriving yourself of anything. The body does not need that junk to survive. It's mind over matter. I see people who eat like 2 tiny bites of ice cream or something similar, and all it does is just make the cravings worse. If u stop altogether, the cravings will subside.

Posted by chimera66 on Oct-28-2008 19:01:

one day i might try to see if i can go a week without my normal amount of sugar but i doubt that day will be soon. i realize i don't need it to survive i like it and that's all that matters to me. i like having cake on my birthday or candy corn around halloween, that's just how i roll.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Oct-28-2008 19:04:

I tried going without carbs entirely and didn't like it.

I have seem to have more energy when I eat a pretty low amount of them, though, rather than snacking on a bunch of chips / pretzels.

Ah yes, working out......

I forgot all about that for a while. Arse!

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Oct-28-2008 20:10:

let the games begin - i have entered into 2 more biathlons for next year. Swimming starts in 2 weeks in a 13m pool - looking to run a good 8-12 laps per session.

I haven't ran in a while so I'm hoping tonight when I get back on the treadmill I'll be semi-able to make it past the mile marker.

I love the challange self deprivation is so win on so many levels. I fucking own my body and mind.

Posted by chimera66 on Oct-29-2008 02:11:

you people and the self deprivation are out of your minds...i will cut back on the candy though. i ate too much candy corn today and feel ill.

Posted by chach on Oct-29-2008 05:54:

eww first of all candy corn is freaking disgusting

Posted by chimera66 on Oct-29-2008 12:34:

i'm done with candy corn for at least another year...it really is all artificial colors and straight up sugar/honey. either way i can't eat anymore.

I've started hitting the gym up again. I'm sore but it's getting better and I'm almost back to my usual weights.

Also started to run a bit along the beach with a mate but we need to run at 6am because he goes to work after and I've got uni, plus it's exam time for me so we haven't done as much running as we should have.

I really need the cardio too as I weigh 100kg when I should be around 95kg so all the gym work that I do is covered by those annoying extra few kilos of fat. Especially the abs

I live in a (technically) rural area, there's only 2 gyms near enough to be considered. This one I go to is right next to my home (less than 1 minute on foot...) so I don't want to change.

Well, I'm hardly an expert but I don't think I'm overtraining... I take a long time at the gym but spend a lot of time relaxing between exercises, and I don't spend 2 hours going at the same muscle groups. I go with this guy who is doing some recuperation work after a knee injury, so while he does his thing I do stretching and arm rotating, then 20 mins of bike, and then sometimes 3 or 4 machines to work legs... when I can be bothered. Yesterday I did 12 mins of running and 2 leg exercises instead.

Then after that we do either a bicep, tricep or chest+back workout, and this one is the harsher part. This consists of several double exercises, done 3 times. Example: doing 8 reps of lifting a bar with weights, then straight-away to "chest openings" with a weight on each hand. Relax for 2 or 3 minutes, repeat again, relax for 2 or 3 minutes, repeat again. We do 3 different kinds of these double exercises for each bicep/tricep/chest days.

We alternate these days, I basically end up working out these sets of muscles only once per 2 weeks, as sometimes I'll skip a day and do only a gym day per week... this can't possibly be overkill. The only possibly overkill part is doing upper muscles on top of legs - is this that bad?

And at the end, we do abs. Then stretching again.

2hrs isn't all that much if you think about it. i'm usually in there at a minimum of 1.5hrs with a 30min treadmill run. I know for fact the saturday morning lift + swim will net me a good 2-2.5hrs. I'm excited for my saturday mornings now, i can only imagine what an hour of lifting then an hr of swimming will do for me. I need to stretch those muscles out from lifting.

Wai - I plan on getting back into bikram, do you want to go sunday's at 1pm? it's a beginners class so we can start from scratch together.

Posted by chimera66 on Nov-06-2008 17:47:

so today i felt like what a 70 year old woman must feel every morning. last week i sucked at exercising because of stress plus being kinda sick for the past two weeks. either way healthy now and didn't ease into my normal routine so went hard these last two days and this morning my entire body hurt. i shuffled not walked around my apartment and to the train like a senior citizen!

perhaps send me details! i am just so lazy about exercising on weekends with the exception of walking a couple miles or going to lay in the sauna which is my favorite thing ever. although that would be a nice new addition to my workouts...fyi still doing the core stuff you showed me

Posted by winston on Nov-06-2008 17:50:

I've been running the usual 5 miles daily this week. I'm also trying to run errands by foot instead of driving, and it makes me feel good by the end of the day. I will probably hit the gym today after running, we'll see...

Posted by tubularbills on Nov-06-2008 17:51:

five miles a day? shit, i'm lucky if i get in 5 a week

i've been so lazy since i've been down here in biloxi. all i do is play racquetball, run 2-3 miles a week, and pullups and thats it.

Posted by winston on Nov-06-2008 17:54:

yeah, i don't know where all this energy comes from. i'm in need of competition.

Posted by chimera66 on Nov-06-2008 18:18:

i truly wish i enjoyed running...good for you! exercising gives me all the energy i have because without it i would crash

Posted by tubularbills on Nov-19-2008 23:05:

ran 3.5 miles today...with about 1.25 of it uphill.

Monday i did a fake PT test.

1 min pushups - 65
1 min situps - 51
1.5 miles run - 12:12

not too shabby, considering all i did over the weekend was drink and be lazy.

Posted by chimera66 on Nov-20-2008 00:03:

i'm skipping the gym and hitting up a wine bar....so worth it

Posted by Silky Johnson on Nov-20-2008 01:06:

Haven't been to the gym in months...broken toe and shit. But I quit smoking as of yesterday so that I can get back into running and the gym. Yay!

Posted by Fledz on Nov-20-2008 13:45:

I'm gonna get back into exercise tomorrow

....maybe.
