Yay for Renault

yay for Montoya

Alfonso can wrap it up next week in Spa.

I love Spa, tis a great circuit but still pales into insignificance with the old circuit............ Always look forward to this race.

Quite a boring race I thought, shame cos Monza always seems to throw up something spectacular.

yay for Kimi

Yes folks we can all congratulate mr. Alonso for the 2005 WDC although id preferred kimi to win it. Unless something very nasty happens to alonso in these final four races . Cant wait for Spa hopefully some spills n thrills

Yeah, Alonso's got it in the bag now. Not a very eventful race, hopefully the new engine's next year will sort everything out.

Spa this weekend.. guess what, they predict showers! lol

would be the first time this year, though.. as far as i can remember, we haven't seen a wet race this season

6 more points out of 30 and Alonso champion

MICHELIN MAY DROP FORMULA ONE SUPPORT.

Michelin says it may cede supply of Formula One racing
tires to rival Bridgestone Corp. as early as 2007 if F1s
governing body decides to permit only one tire brand
beginning in 2008.
Both tiremakers supply the series now, with Michelin
predominating. The Federation Internationale de
lAutomobile says the idea of a single tire supplier came
from the teams and noted powerful but unspecified arguments
for switching to one tire maker. Michelin believes
that a single supplier will hurt competition without necessarily
reducing costs.
Relations between Michelin and the FIA turned
rancorous after last Junes U.S. Grand Prix at the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Michelin discovered flaws in its tires, and most of the field opted not to race.
In a blunt response to Michelins statement yesterday,
the FIA said the French company wrecked the U.S. race
and accused CEO Edouard Michelin of having an almost
comical lack of knowledge about modern F1 racing.
The brouhaha comes as two F1 teamsToyota and
Williamssay they will switch from Michelin to
Bridgestone tires next year. The FIA expects to decide on
the one-tire proposal by year-end.

What is the reason for having more than one tyre supplier anyway? Didn't it all work out perfectly when Goodyear was in charge of every team? Why does F1 goes around in circles, changing rules then coming back to them after several years?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Sep-18-2005 09:46:

Well, the silly season is already well and truly underway before the season is even finished.

Teams changing ownership:
Minardi -> Red Bull (not Red Bull Racing, but is gonna act as a junior teams)
Sauber -> BMW

Barrichello-> BAR
Massa -> Ferrari
Heidfeld -> BMW
Button -> Williams (I wonder if this is actually gonna happen this year )

anyyone else?

Oh, and as for tyres, I prefer having different suppliers. We have different teams, and different engines, why not different tyres? It is a competition afterall...............

Big news!

Button has bought his way out of the Williams contract.
HE IS STAYING AT BAR.

BAR's line up for next year is now Barrichello and Button.
Williams remain with one confirmed driver, Mark Webber. Very interesting story.

Cost him 20 mil by all accounts :/

Posted by TOR on Sep-25-2005 19:16:

well then.. Alonso took it. not in big style, but he drove a very good race

props to the Mclaren team, finally they got a well deserved one-two finish.
big ups to Michael Schumacher as well. i don't know how he managed to fend off Fisichella, but he did.

Posted by UnBracKo on Sep-25-2005 20:09:

Congratulations Alonso!! good work

Posted by noikeee on Sep-25-2005 22:14:

Didn't see the race but glad i didn't, can't say i like Alonso at all. Also, anyone else thinks the current points system values reliability a bit too much?

Talking about reliability, Tiago Monteiro retired... for the first time. The record of consecutives finishes by a rookie stays at... 18 races

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Sep-26-2005 04:31:

congrats to Alonso
also very happy to see Montoya win today

Posted by DarkFall01 on Sep-26-2005 05:00:

congrats to Alonso
It'll be interesting to see the last 2 races, McLaren is not going to let that constructor's cup go now that they're 2 points on top of Renault.

Posted by fcuk on Sep-26-2005 09:25:

I don't really like Alonso either but id like to congratulate him on being the youngest champion in F1. It now should be clear to McLaren that the Constructors cup must be won and hopefully next year to be on top form from the very beginning as it all adds up in the end. Hope to see Ferrari improve next year as it will be apparently be Schumachers final year

Posted by Trance Nutter on Sep-26-2005 09:37:

Good stuff for Alfonso.
I rate him, he is a worthy champion. Young, aggressive, and devilishly quick. And without a doubt he has improved markedly over his time at Renault, his success cannot be attributed solely to the car.
Bad luck for Kimi though, next year maybe.

Posted by retiro on Sep-26-2005 20:52:

Nice one Fernando!

So nice to see a new generation of young Schumacher beaters! Unlucky for Kimi, maybe McLaren can get it right next year! Ron Dennis says this: (Quote - Autosport website) "Fernando Alonso must still prove himself as the sport's number one driver this season, despite clinching the World Championship in Brazil on Sunday." Poor looser Ron!!!

Guess its back to square one for most with the in coming of the 2.4 V8's, coupled with the suggested new qualifying format! Makes for an interesting year for '06!

Other than giving a bonus point for retiring I can't really think of a system that wouldn't

It's been an absolutly dreadful season. Credit to Alonso, fantastic performances all season, but I'm never going to look back on this one with fond memories. McLaren deserve the constructers tho, outstanding achievement on the car.

Posted by Trance Nutter on Oct-09-2005 11:48:

Pretty good race by recent standards.
Storming drive by Kimi, 17th to 1st with a pass on the final lap.
Some pretty good driving all through the pack, Alonso was also aggressive as always. Webber did well to put that car 4th too.

Posted by TOR on Oct-09-2005 18:40:

what a great race.. awesome to see Kimi and Fernando storming through the field.

best GP i've seen in a while

Posted by Spad on Oct-10-2005 07:39:

Great race.

Proof that they don't need a new qualifying setup. Just get rid of it altogether and have everybody start in reverse order to how they fnished last race
