so yeah I was complaining about how lousy he's been this year, I basicly lost faith in him, so did the Marlins (he's a great guy though, and won with us the series in 97 , Woo Al )
so today I find out the Yankees got him over the weekend, Im like haha , how desperate are these yankees, how can they salvage this guys career
Pitching at Boston no less today
6.1 IP 3H 1ER 3BB 8k's
in the words of Leopold
..

I know, this is freaking awesome. I'm not sure it's gonna last but he pitched brilliantly today. 8 k's? He got ahead of most guys today which was so different than what he was doing with your Marlins. He was pitching like yesteryear. We'll have to see how this goes, I thought he was gonna suck too.

Leiter needed a change of scenery, some people play up to putting the stripes on(cone) and others players self destruct(see weaver and vazquez).I like Leiter i hope he can keep it up.And Shamez i agree i think the nationals are remembering they are the team formerly known as the expos

that's my gut feeling

even if/when they make the playoffs, i'll just end up doubting them the rest of the season and every point of the playoffs. I just think that the lineup isn't good enough, that the pitching will eventually fall back to earth and hermason will implode as closer at some point

having said that...

i hope and would love the white sox prove me wrong at every stage...i'd love to see you guys win a World Series this year and especially before the cubbies

Posted by Member of X on Jul-18-2005 04:14:

Well, they're like 12 games up at the moment, that'd be one of the biggest comebacks in the history of baseball. I'm not seeing it.

White Sox will win the division.

Well... I always felt the Expos were a vastly underrated ball club. And now I think they are a vastly overrated ball club.

As for Leiter... no change of scenery. The dude is done. Mark my words. That's the only good start he'll have for the Yankees.

Posted by Mebot on Jul-18-2005 14:11:

How are they overrated? Just because they're winning some close ball games now?

There's no real super-star players on the team(except for Hernandez and Cordero who were sent to the All-Star game). Their stats are average at best.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-18-2005 17:17:

the nationals know how to keep it close, and then let cordero shut the door in the 9th .. it's plain simple. why do you think cordero has i think 32 saves right now ?? that's f'n amazing .. looks like he is going to break bobby thigpen or eric gagne's record for most saves in a year ?? .. cordero is going to have about 60, because the nationals are going to be in many more close games in the future.

anyways .. who caught that brawl between the royals and tigers .. two underachieving teams duking their losing records out .. .. but of course, kyle farnsworth has to be "the man", and does a complete body slam on a royals guy .. he got owned ..

not as much owned compared to paul wilson, who was left to a bloddy mess when farnsworth laid him out two years ago ( ?? ) .. they showed that scene again on sportscenter.

Posted by Mebot on Jul-18-2005 17:19:

yeah i saw the highlight on SportsCenter of that brawl. Pretty funny to see him bodyslam him to the ground..

of course, if I was hit in the head with a 80mph fastball, i'd probably get mad too.

Posted by Member of X on Jul-18-2005 17:37:

All I know is that Kyle Farnsworth is the last guy in the entire league that I'd want to pick a fight with. First, he's a huge guy with a definite nasty streak. Second, dude's gonna remember and throw a 100 mph fastall between your ears. No thanks!

Great body slam though, he's gonna get suspended for sure but it'll take awhile with his appeals, etc.

if I was the pitching coach, i'd probably get mad that my pitcher is only throwing 80 MPH with his fastball

he doesnt have the control to do that

best baseball fight ever: Nolan Ryan beating the hell out of Robin Ventura.

hehe touche

Posted by Member of X on Jul-18-2005 19:10:

I'd say that in previous years but this year Kyle is sporting a 1.85 ERA with 51 k's and 16 walks. That's pretty impressive so far.

Jamie Moyer wishes he had a 80 mph fastball...

here's a good article on ESPN Page 2 written by Scoop Jackson on White Sox fans

yea that article is pretty much spot on. theres a lot of cautious optimism around here. i dont really get it. i think the fans need to sit back and enjoy the season. there were a lot of people complaining over the break because of the series against oakland. "oh i guess the cinderella season is over" and other similar comments. we've had the pitching to keep us in the games and the hitting has come through when we've needed it. as long as we don't have to play oakland (who we just absolutely suck against) then i think we have as good a shot as anybody to make some noise in the playoffs.

Haha, lol ... I was thinking about it too. The guy just has an allergy to cameras or something. Or maybe some cameraman has done something bad to him in the past. Whatever ... its funny as hell though, never heard of anyone so pissed off at cameramen ... mainly their cameras, actually

Maybe he doesnt like the way he appears on television?

Posted by verndogs on Jul-19-2005 12:14:

so the yanks are now in first...

and member of x is having fun calling the TAs in the NYTA board who suddenly appeared on the yankees bandwagon

Yeah i agree with that article as well and pretty much everything you said here.

on a side note...we (the nationals) are officially in the slump now I was at the game against the rockies last night and i was taking a piss when the winning run scored. I blame myself for their loss. i'm a horrible fan

well they say the camera adds 10 pounds. maybe he thinks they're trying to make him look fat.

i saw the second "incident" on tv last night and i was thinking to myself, why was that guy even videotaping him getting booked? rogers turned himself in, its not like they put out a man-hunt for the guy. i think the guy was trying to get him to do something.

of course .. the yankee bandwagon is starting to churn forward now .. .. especially with the way sheff and a-rod are hitting, the yankees could go somewhere ..

and why is kevin brown still their starting pitcher ?? .. .. the yankees should be smart, and use him as their setup man, because the more starts he gets, the more he is going to be burnt, which means his confidence is going down lower ..
