lol, paying for ringtones.

That's worse than paying for porn.

Posted by Abercrombie on Apr-25-2006 21:37:

ok, for those who don't have the sync cables and h4x0r software then...?

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Apr-25-2006 21:41:

I think people underestimate how simple all this "h4xx0ring" is:

1. Buy a USB data cable for your phone on Ebay for like 10 bucks. Every phone newer than 5 years has one. Newer phones come with it packaged already.

2. Use the software provided with your phone (if it has bluetooth, then it'll come with this software) to transfer whatever you want, and how much of it you want onto/off the phone.

Posted by VERTiG0 on Apr-25-2006 21:52:

Yeah.

Samsung's PC Studio 3 and the included USB data cable make life easy for me.

Posted by Abercrombie on Apr-25-2006 22:08:

got it...

I'm finished with my 2yr corp. plan with rogers, and never had a cable for my t720 poopophone.

Now, I don't want to spend more than $50 for a phone upgrade, or $100 if it's a really good deal to lock for another 2-3 years.

My current fav choices are;

$99/$49 for 2/3 yr plan renewal
Sony Ericsson W600i
Motorola v635i
LG 500

Several others are free for either 2 or 3 yrs;
Audiovox SMT5600 BlackBerry 7280 LG 1500 Motorola Razr V3
Motorola Razr V3 Black Motorola V186 Motorola V360 Motorola V551
Nokia 3120 Nokia 3220 Nokia 6101 Nokia 6820 Samsung 207 Samsung p207 White Sony Ericsson J300

I would like something small to fit in my pocket while at the guv.

suggestions?

Posted by VERTiG0 on Apr-25-2006 22:11:

If you want something slim, get the Razr. Everything else is a huge brick.

Or you could get the same phone I have, Samsung D820. *swoon*

Posted by 4-play on Apr-25-2006 22:16:

Yes, I know I am contradicting myself, but am seriously considering this.

I saw it at Holts today and just fell in love with the yellow leather and stitching. Plus I may strike up a good deal.

Or maybe.....

(It would be more conservative, but better when using the phone in front of clients)

Someone talk me out of this!!!!

The Razr seems perfect for clubbing, love that feature, however 2 things bug me about it... the polarization of the screen is verticle instead of horizontal so the screen looks fcuked to me, and 2) everyone seems to have it now.

The Motorola v635i, and LG 500 are nearly identical, but the reviews on the Sony Ericsson W600i seem to be the best of the three.

My phone, some pic I stole

Razr-thin slider, better camera, yadda yadda.

Too bad they don't sell Cale's Samsung at Rogers...

Now i'm really in the market for a phone ASAP since my shitty Motorola T720 fell out of my hands yesterday and broke in two pieces. The flippy part flew right off...

So I need some advice quick - i'm not sure what to get... I'm not a fan of Motorola and i'm not looking for a fancy, schmancy phone with camera and bluetooth, yadda yadda... i just want something simple!! But looking at what rogers have, I won't get what I want. All i need is a tri band or quad band (just to be safe).

Abercrombie - I'm also on a corporate plan and when I called they told me I get a $100 credit and they waive the Adm. fee if I upgrade. Depends what corporate plan you're on... supposedly I'm on a Tier A. But look into it nevertheless.

Got my phone - Samsung P207 (black)
Not that crazy about - it has rediculously huge numbers, the only game on it sucks, there are only like 10 ringtones and it doens't beep when I have missed a call/msg like my old one... ugh! Well I guess I'll have to get used to the bugger. The two freakin' Rogers stores I went to (Sq 1 and Sherway) had almost nothing in stock - they were "waiting for new merchandise"... ppfff! I guess I can't complain - I didn't pay a dime and all I had to do was extend my contract for a year.

ANYWAY - One last question: can anyone recommend a place in Chinatown or anywhere else in downtown Toronto that can unlock my phone??

Thanks a bunch!

I'm really really excited about this thing here.

Netgear's wifi enabled Skype phone.

Near a wifi access point? Fire up the phone and make some calls via Skype. So awesome.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on May-03-2006 01:53:

I wouldn't trust Netgear for a router. I'm certainly not trusting them with a phone.

I've never had a problem, it depends on your net connection.
