REMIX 1
Judge 1:
"I like the percussions in this track, it kicks off really nice, I'm not liking the sounds used for the main melodies, sound too typical , in a few words , not my cup of tea.
The Overall sound , well it sounds professional, I think the main melody could use a bit less of volume, but that is me. There is no originality in the structure of the track, even more, it seems like the producer all what he did was to change the lead sounds, add new percussions and some atmospheres, but left it intact as the original"

Excellent structure and arrangement. This is another guy who's used the original melody to the absolute full, and with some great new ideas added too. It's hard to find fault with this one really, the break is simply beautiful, it pulls me in and surrounds me. Maybe the percs could do with a tiny bit more variation, but they're still very professional. It gets a tiny bit repeditive towards the end ... not sure if I'd knock it for that though.

"Reviewing as it goes , I like the heavy bass applied right when it starts. Kick is Solid and like it's click. Percussions in general are decent. Background work in the first minutes are ok.
The sound for the main melody, I'm not satisfied with it either. I'm not confortable with the off-beat bassline used by this producer and sometimes I feel that it lacks of a good bassline sequence to guide the track. The overall sound is good.
As for creativity, this guy is getting low points from me in this area."

"I like the way this track kicks off, is just my style, the dark feel he gave to this is conquering me. The bassline sounds a bit lo-fi in my opinion , but then the Acid Bass on top of it complements.
I'm liking the intro, at least is something different from the previous two remixes. For creativity he won't go high but neither he will go low, but he is winning in the structure of the track, everything is flowing nicely.
He is using the typical saws that will never get old even if they are so overused. I like the build-up for the climax he made, and the climax itself tho is not spectacular is really nice, pleasant for the ears. Overall sound is not too great".

1:30 ish ... enjoying this bit very much. Very slow, delicate buildup - very well done.
Wow! This guy is good
He has an excellent take on the melody, his structure is basically flawless, and this is a very full track. Really superb production here.
I hope none of the other judges mark this down coz they don't "get" it. This certainly deserves a top 3 anyway.

Judge 1: "I like the beefy kick , then it becomes more stompy, really nice!! , Nice snare use!! oh, then all the high expectations went down with that bassline sound, too loud for the mix and the sequence ...
The Pads are too loud for the mix, and sound too in the front, Pads should always be put in the background. And the resonance of them annoys my ears.
I don't like the sound used for the main melody in this one, I see he tried to be original, but what he could possibly get in originality, was taken off the melody score. It just sounds... old school and cheap. Like made for a 8-Bit videogame. The Creativity, didn't get anything in this area in my opinion, it sounds like a failed attempt to update it. Sry, I appreciate your effort, but there is not many highlights here".

"Interesting percs in the intro. Some of his stuff is a little standard though. I wouldn't be crazy about the clap, and the kick ... hmmm ... not sure about this either. It's almost almost right, but not quite.
Interesting bassline. He's done some very nice stuff with the melody. The synths are generally very raw though ... far too much so really. Reverb needed across the board.
I'm not sure if we're supposed to dock marks for mastering, but I'm gonna knock a few off here anyway, this guy's trying to pump far too much into the c4-c5 range (esp. post-break). Some basic eq would fix that, and that's a producer's job really. I get the feeling this guy is more comfortable around hard trance really.
This isn't bad from a djing perspective. Maybe he should run the bassline to the end instead of his pads. Other than that though, structure is pretty good."

" The fastest paced rmx til now , I'm not keen of the intro, it sounds like Euro-Dance more than trance, of course he didn't specify what type of genre this remix belongs to, but since he didn't, I'm assuming is a trance remix, but it does not sound like one.
The whole percussion is really poor, the supporting melodies gives a new spirit to the main melody, but their sounds are.... poor again.
The Overall Sound is...poor .
I see he tried some cool things in the break down, but the strings there need spirit, they sound like taken from a music game.

150bpm! Yummy! Very different
1:20, he's not showing much imagination with melody. This obviously isn't wrong, but so many others have so far.
1:40, oh gosh! He's showing some imagination now, I take back what I said.
This kinda reminds me of clockwork orange, maybe coz it's so fast.
3:50, he could've brought that in differently I think. It's a beautiful change in the melody, but it sounds wrong at first. A simple crash would have done it.
4:29, bassline needs work.
The outro: not very mix friendly is it? You could run it with a (long) percussive only intro of something I guess, but the percs in this are a little sparse, so it'd sound a bit wrong.
This guy showed so many great ideas, but maybe he needs to work a little more on his stuff. If this tune had some more standard elements in it, I think it'd be excellent.

Cool break Beats used, it seems that many participants couldn't assign a suitable sound for the main melody, this is no exception, what a shame because the rest of the track is really cool".

Good take on the melody, and a very original change around the 3min mark. Is this an aristA vs artistB mix?
6:30 now, and I'm not really sure where he's going with structure. It's like he has lots of different ideas but couldn't pick just one, so he decided to use them all
All are good btw, but they shouldn't all be in the one tune I think!
Very mixable outro too. Good work. He'll score high on the dj-friendly bit, but his structure otherwise pulls his marks down.

"Nice ambient start, with the breakbeats and all, really cool start indeed. Oh wow, I like that bassline, it reminds me of a track "In Shades" by Sinsure, pretty cool and driving. Percussion nothing out of the ordinary but do the job just fine.
Yet another conteastant who failed in my opinion on choosing a nice sound for the main melody. The Pads , nice, right in the background, I oike the atmosphere of this production, and the breakbeats in the middle of the track. Some cool sounds FX in the background as well.
The build up for the climax was not impressive, it needed more excitement, and the climax, well, I thought he was going to unleash some sort of moster sound, but it remained the same, the only change were break beats for regular 4/4 kick". Overall sound is good.

Good sfx on the intro, a very good intro generally in fact.
Might want to look at the levels mid-track. The melody gets lost a little in all the sfx. He's got some lovely strings in the background too, I'd love to hear them a little more.
This guy has used the melody to it's full potential too, without actually going over creative. His use of the melody does get a little repeditive though.

Cool progressive Bassline, good intro leads, there comes the break. Nice Pads used, I like the background work, however, I don't like the sound used for the main melody either, and is a shame, because the rest is quite good, the main bassline, supportive melodies, background music, percussions are all top class, but the main melody which happens to be the most important factor here.... not keen of it"

The Overall sound is quite good, the sound used for the main melody failed to impress me as well. "Wow! What an intro! His beats early on are a little too disjoint. Nice though. He might want to have a quick think about what key he's gonna work in too
I love that piano sound he uses for melody. Needs a little more body though.
This guy is bursting with imagination. He could ease off on that snare though!
hmmm ... around the 4:10 mark, it sounds a little like a bad mix. So many great elements, but they're not really harmonious.
His arrangement could do with a little revision really. This'd be tough enough to mix nicely, and he needs to have a serious think about key.
I'm gonna hit this guy pretty hard everywhere except for creativity, where he gets a perfect 10. Music is more than just to cramming all the nice sounds you can find into a track, the whole thing needs structure and intent. It seems that he hasn't completely inverted the phase on one channel, but there is a certain amount of cancelling-out going on when you listen to it in mono. Percussions are nice, those Choirs are beautiful , there is not much variation in the intro but still is really catchy and pleasant for my ears. Nice arpy melodies here and there, and the sound is very good in this 4 minutes of the track.
Melody wise is really good the first 5 minutes.

An intro mix! Refreshing
Bass is a little over the top maybe ... *unsure* ... no, actually, it works here, it's good.
If this is meant to be an intro mix ... then maybe it's a bit too slow developing, I'd chop nearly a whole minute out of the intro if I could. Another skip in this one btw ... maybe it's my winamp or something.
Break is beautiful, ... OMG, some wonderful stuff around the 7min mark, me likes
. Mastering sucks at this point though. He's trying to push too much into the low treble/high bass area.
So wonderfully musical, very refreshing take on the melody. I like this one very much! He has struck a great balance between an intro mix and a mixable intro :P
I'd love to give a 10 for arrangement, but his intro is really a bit slow developing. Gonna give it a 9.5

FINAL RESULTS CARD
Ok, First of all to each and every one of the participants for the interest on this 7th Edition (Not 8th like I was misinformed in the begining) of TA Remix competition.
So before getting started with revealing the names of the producers of each remix, let's start announcing the names of the Judges.
Judge 1: is myself, I must tell you I didn't check out the remixes until the last week of the deadline for the judges to submit their feedback, but I renamed them to "Remix #" as I was getting them.
So, there was no bias behaviour, or anything like that.
There were some good remixes, there were bad remixes, and that is all.
Judge 2: Is TA Poster "Bricky", you can check out his webpage , www.brickaloch.com, he is a great friend, a kind person, and know a lot on the technical aspects, thanks to his advices, I am were I am now.
Judge 3: is Massive84, he has been judge before, I think you all know him.
Judge 4: Is Kopi Luwak, who recently released his new album, good luck to our pal.
To all of them thanks very much for your help and time.
Now, when I announce the winner, everyone except the winner can start sharing their mixes if they want, or try to get them promoted by your fellow Djs, is all up to you.
The winner, if he wants his track to get released (or at least the possibility) he must not shared the track anywhere. He must PM me with the real name , artist name , so I can provide all this info to Yahel himself, and if possible a 320 Kbps MP3 version as well.
As for the other prizes, I'll pm him about it.
The names will be revealed in a few hours, since I have to do something, else, but do not worry, the announcement won't pass from today.
Cheers
arrgh!
remix 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.. who is who??
