| Originally posted by Kapedan So, all of our "great" soccer players are under the age of 16. This does not make any sense. The reason why we arent a powerhouse in soccer is because first of all, soccer isnt our number one sport, more like 6th or so, I dont even know. Not close to top 5 for sure. Having said that, all the money goes to the NFL,NBA and MLB, NHL etc etc, so we do not get all the great players in the world, but we do get all the players from those leages the best from the world. And most importantly, its not in our culture. You can see some soccer moms taking thier kids to practice, but when these kids get around 10 or 12, they forget about soccer. Ive played for American high school leagues and it sucks. I hardly see kids playing 5 v 5 on the streets here, most of them play football or basketball, not soccer. That tells alot. Im sure I can get on details here, but thats they way I see it. I mean, we should be happy with this, and getting in the 16th, we should celebrate. Lets only hope. |
