great time, for sure!
Awesome to see all the replies on here by ppl that actually attempted to identify the songs & form track lists...very sweet. To us newbies, learning the tracks and artists is tough enough, and it sure helps us out. This is my first post on Trance Addict, i mainly hang out over at www.houseaddict.com and posted a full review of the night there.
Great meeting a bunch of trance addicts that night, including Gypsy. You guys are a cool bunch, alright.
Sticky_shoes--surprised I didn't meet up with you gal! Haven't seen you since your bday @ TIL!
great event people, looking forward to the next.
^^ you're scaring me, Dave.
i thought you said that i'm like City TV.... everywhere!

john digweed transitions
yes yes all...
as a hard core trance fanatic I have to say me and my crew did not stay in KH to watch Armin nor Ferry who we love a great deal... We have never had the chance to see John D!!! Holy Flap!!!! This man was amazing live, and to hear it roll out on Guv's soundsystem, holy shiiiiiiiiit. Whipped my head!!!!my ass till six a.m!!!! KH was NOT happening, so we stayed glued to the bassbins in the mainroom. By far the best night ever at Guv, and yes..we oldskool still can do it up...for those who know ...lit up several hi-intensity glostiks for all you fiends to trip out too! hehehehehehe
Respect to all you young dogs that paid respect...see you around

Awesome, awesome time!! It was great to have my NYC crew there as well....4 more showed up after the block party, so there were like 8 of us or so joining you wikked tota's for the party
MO: He has always been an amazing opener, but I was barely paying attention bc I was getting introduced to mad people, and still tired from 3 hours of sleep the night before....I got over that quick when.....
Armin: What the fak do you want me to say?? everyone knows he is my fav dj by a landslide....He signed my little sign that I made in thanks for his epic Tobacco Warehouse show....He looked at it, gave me a big smile and a point, drew what I think was a little tear down his cheek (maybe a symbolism of shedding a tear after the last song in Brooklyn??) then gave me a little bow
hehe cute....problem was, random strangers saw the sign and wanted to take 50 million pics with me and the sign.....and then...ask me 50 million questions about NYC and why I was there.....shiiiite...whatta distraction all night!! ......Armins set was the shit and he played Helsinski for me so stfu to everyone who hates
Even the househeads were dancning....loved the mix of hard and soft...HOT!!! Can't beat the man biting his lip all night either...I wanted to pounce him
Chilled upstairs in the skybar for junkie...thats when I got hounded by Brooklyn-sign-lovers, so I missed the whole friggin set
Ferry: Shit, the man was killing me for the first 90 minutes, then after that showed me why the fak I love him so much.....I LOVE the mix of hard electro beats and trance, its the perfect combo for me. It helps to have friends who are ferry obsessed surrounding you....you could feel the love in that place (lisa, cale, Calvin (sp?)shay, etc) ....awesome as well that ferry remembered me....I hope he doesn't still think I am a prostitute!!
(for those who weren't in NYC, he asked me what I did for a living, and when I said I was getting my masters for sex therapy, his english "misunderstood" and thought I was a prossy...hehe we had a good laugh when he figured it out!!
oops! I shoulda clarified!!
In anycase, ferry had me dancing till the bitter freakin end, and I didn't wanna stop...I coulda danced for 5 more hours...not an ounce of tiredness!! I wanted to cry when the music stopped....
Overall great time....I looked faking disgusting by the time armin was over, and I wasn't even hot....but the place felt like it had water IN the air....just faking wet everywhere in that place!!
WTF guv, get on top of that shit!!
I am trying to look hot in T-dot and you are making it very difficult.
Whatta gross night..
To the tota's...you have great energy (especially KEFFKA...holy shit man you rock it, dood..now get in the labour of love red pumps and you might be nada)
Fahad, you were killin it too babes! WHAT!!
You guys once again made sure I was having a great time all night (wow, I never knew a buncha people could be so hospitable in a club, but thanks for reppin how great you toronto peeps can be.
I have a million fun stories, but my reviews are long enough so deal wit it !!
Maybe in a few days when my wrist recovers
PS: Sasha: holy fak you are tall!!
Who knew? Wish I had gotten to chance to say more than a few words, but hell it was loud and time to dance

It was pretty good, the place was way too overcrowded though and I pretty much didn't have any energy left after Armin's set, but I guess I was tired even before that because I had to drive from Cleveland. The music was great and I enjoyed every second of it. But unfortunately afterwards our car got broken into and our passports and stuff got stolen so we had to drive around and make a police report, and then wait at the border for like 2 hours because they wouldn't let us pass without the papers. Overall a pretty good experience aside from the break in part.

Thanks Nada.
The heat, sweat droplets from the ceiling, and the dense crowd was expected in the KoolHaus. But the water bottles and cans on the floor ppl were kicking them around while dancing and others would just step on them and would throw em off balance and ruin the flow. It sux.
Great vids ppl. SHAYA....OMG awesome video. Its the closest thing to being there! Great memories!

Travail de L'amour
Like I mentioned a few days ago, Labour of Love 2005 was the worst event experience I've ever had. It was the definition of crowdedness. I wasn't going to attend this year's because of that. Surprisingly, Labour of Love 2006 ended up being pretty damn enjoyable.
After getting home from Niagara with my folks I had to get ready quickly. I called Kat to inquire about the possibility of a long lineup and she told me it was already huge...It was 9:20 pm at the time and so I did a rush job; put on whatever I had laying around, makeup, foundation and all (kidding! lol.) Refused to TTC it down so I got my pops to speed me over to the Guv. Arrived at 10:00ish to see a pretty long lineup...it could have been significantly worse. Met up with the Clowns at the perfect time as we were able to finally gain entrance at around 10:30. Got in, made my rounds, and tried to get into the groove. Couldn't do it, and at around 11:20 I sped to the Guvernment and stayed there most of the night. It really pains me to always leave my crew during all access events...everyone always splits up, and I really wanted to stay and party with everyone in the Kool Haus, but there were 2 factors that outweighed my decision: 1) I remembered how horribly packed it was last year and didn't want to make the same mistake by staying in the KH all night. 2) Since last year I've become more of a 'house head' rather than a 'trance addict' so the Guv was the place to be. The crowd in The Guv was pretty good, even during the peak hours when it was pretty rammed. Lots of friendly, great dancing people, and hardly any asians in sight. Maybe I was blind? heh. The temperature never reached excessive levels of heat, although after 10 minutes I was already soaked. It seems no matter what environment I'm in I'll always manage to become wet...dancing up storms of water FTW!
What REALLY made me happy was that I almost ALWAYS had plenty of room to go nuts and spin in circles...I got a little bit dizzy.
lol. I rarely stayed in the same spot for more than 30 minutes...I was bouncing from different areas of the Guv, stayed no more than 10 minutes in the other rooms. Finally at around 7:00 I decided it was time for some Kool Haus, but to my surprise all of the clowns had dashed out hours beforehand....and so did alot of you. I was disappointed but still excited to see everyone else who I hadn't seen. The KH at that time was perfect...but assuming from what everyone else said, this hadn't been the case hours ago lol. Stayed until the end with my big brother David Ace. w00t!. Clowns don't die! Well...some do. lol.
Music! Tunes! Sex!...er ok, there was no sex involved, but with some of the songs I heard I'd like to believe otherwise
Caught about 20 minutes or so of Mark Oliver...Can you guess what I thought? Caka Merda! I'm already used to it though. On the brightside, as I was about to head out to the Guv, I heard the opening sound samples to the Dirty Clown Alliance's themesong!! I rushed as fast as I could so that I'd make it in time to do the dance that goes along with it... Switch - A Bit Patchy!!
Everytime we do the Fresh Prince of Belair dance to it it's good jokes. Unfortunately, as hilarious and fun as it was, hardly anyone outside the group decided to join...Pffft! And the song right after...Solid Groove - Red Hot. WTF! Donald Glaude flashbacks! Ass shaking time....Shake that aaaaaaaaass! Almost hit someone in the face with that thing. Grr. I'll give Oliver props for droppin' those two shiznets. Word.
Made it in time to catch the last hour of Luke Fair's set. He was the reason why I finalized my decision to come to Labour. He was a good opener for me, but his set at TIL was much better. He actually agreed to this after I had the chance to have a brief chat with him. He thought it was horrible, but I told him that was totally not the case. There wasn't enough energy from the crowd, but the mixing was good, and so were the tunes. Progressive omg. I was so relieved to be able to hear stuff that I don't on the usual basis...I'm sick of electro at the moment. Progressive house was definately refreshing. Alot of people will disagree but I think Guv booked a perfect non-commercial lineup for the Guv main room. It sucked not having my little prog partner Karina with me though...she would have died 100 times that night...I tortured her a bit tho
.
Hernan Cattaneo came up next. SET OF THE NIGHT! Seriously. Whatever he played last year doesn't even come close to the awesomeness that was his set this time.
SLOW DARK DEEP EVIL PROGRESSIVE!
It's so hard to explain the music that this man was playing...Ok..I just did, but imagine this...For me, uplifting and euphoric trance puts my mind in a dreamy state. Some of the stuff that Cattaneo dropped did the exact opposite. As I closed my eyes, my mind went through nightmares! I was shivering, and my goosebumps had goosebumps! It was truly a scary yet delightful experience. I couldn't ID any songs which was a good thing, but I did recognize a few.....I'm lying. I recognized one:
Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso - Click!!
<3
He also mixed so flawlessly that it came so close to perfection. I could not believe it...but then again I could, because his crowd interaction was so bland. Meh, I was too awed to care.
John Digweed's set was really disappointing to me. I had never had the oppotunity to see him before and my expectations were too much. He played some harder prog which was so great, but his presentation of tracks was really odd. The mixture of progressive house and trance did not flow well IMO. He played a little bit too much trance inspired stuff. His mixing was impressive, but he looked like a zombie on stage, which only made sense at the end of his set when he started playing uber evil stuff! Also heard some older spacey prog tunes that I tried to trainspot but couldn't grasp them off of the tip of my tongue. That kind of made up for the shitty parts of his set, but overall I was not impressed as much as I expected to be.
During Diggers' crappy peak hours, I decided to take a stroll up to the Skybar. The jungle in the Drink was hip! Lots of hoppin' and I tried to get my monkey ass into it, but I almost took a wipeout because of the wet floor. Almost all of the Drink was full of wet flooring!
I don't know how Billy did it, but he managed to never even slip! He was flying! lol. Made it up to the Drink to catch a bit of Benny B...Left 10 minutes later after hearing TWO fucking different remixes of Satisfaction in less than 3 songs...that and it was cold. Tunes in the Orange room were hard! Didn't want to stay long, but whoever was spinning at 5 am was kicking ass! Strangely enough, I stayed for about 40 minutes for Benny's set in the Guv. Was this the same Benny B? Mixing was decent, but the track selection was tres bien. I heard Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso - Click once again followed by Ame - Rej. Yes, I am aware that these tunes are extremely overplayed but it was good timing. His set started to go downhill right after though..
7 am, Cribby still ready for some more. Ferry Corsten was playing lots and lots of his funky electro which I was sick of...And then something happened...something I knew would happen...Ferry dropped a good 2+ hours of solid older trance. This is EXACTLY what I wanted!! Awesome! I went nuts, but it was weird dancing to trance. Took a while to get into the right mode, but it wasn't too difficult. Reminded me of the Ferry from last year, the first time I had seen him. Lots of friendly energy from him to and from the crowd. I remembered why I still hadn't given up on trance. Even though he didn't play ANY of the songs I wanted to hear, I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy to hear
RIGHT OF WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my all-time fav Ferry tune, and I had a blast busting out my newly gained trance moves to it. lol. Too bad no one was around to go nuts to it with me
Everyone had moved up front to the stage. But Wowzers! Flashbacks from the first time I heard that tune. Left at 10 am satisfied and dead. I don't know how much longer I can do these events sober...nah, I'm kidding. Clowns never die!
It was a pleasure to dance with and see so many different TAs and NonTas in every room. Sorry if I'm so antisocial, I'm in my own world when I'm dancing. The whole night I was greeted on many occasions from people I didn't know...Some dude said he recognized me from pictures where I'm humping pillars! And I don't think he's a TA...whos' been spreading these kinky images around huh?! LOL. Ridiculousness. Nice meeting Tricy_T, the lovely Gypsy and some others...can't remember.
LOL > LOL last year...in every aspect. One of the better events of the year, and for once I wasn't mad that I was at Guvernment. Did I mention...Clowns don't die? lol.
Oh yea...Not even 5 minutes after I got in...Dave goes nuts to the Chicken Song...bock bock bock..
Ahahahahahahaha. I love you Dave!
